its awful, even if you're not a fan already, the characters suck, writing is dreadful and the storytelling is an unnecessarily jumbled mess, cavill and the music are the show's only redeeming features but both are wasted on this

I played 2, 3, then watched S1, then read the books. then watched s2+

The books are worth it. The games are worth it (especially 3). Season 1 of the show is really good in spite of some netflixication. The show falls off a cliff with each new season.

      lmao no it really isn't

there is literally a scene where yennefer gets blacked in front of an audience and they all clap. I know it sounds like a shit post, but this is an honest to god scene that netflix paid money to create.

      >skipped first game
      >Season 1 of the show is really good
I almost don't buy you've read the books, I dropped the entire show immediately after finishing the first episode because only half of the episode was good, you can guess which half was it, it was the half that adapted material from the first book it was supposed to adapt. Renfri's story was a great story to kick off the season with and it's only half the episode, the other half is unrelated to anything in the episode gibberish. Instead of shooting straight it felt like they were even touching any book material through gritted teeth.

And play the first game for frick's sake, it's a good game man.

literally just didn't work on my pc or I would have played it too. Season 1 is a fantastic adaptation aside from 2 giga miscastings.

People who hate S1 fall into 2 categories. "Too dumb to follow time skipping" (which is also instrumental in the book's storytelling as well)
        or
People with giga autism who don't understand an adaptation will never be 1:1. It's an adaptation. The books and the games are also different. Waaaah? Waaaahhhh??

          >"Too dumb to follow time skipping" (which is also instrumental in the book's storytelling as well)
in the book the chapters are interlaced and split into 2 separate parts, it's a lot more clear there

            >The books and the games are also different. Waaaah? Waaaahhhh??
The root problem here is you're too dumb to understand the difference between an adaptation and a sequel, and the differing standards one might apply to each.

My autism appreciates both of you falling in to your designated box. The universe is truly beautiful.

I've never seen anyone confused by the time skipping, its just sort of a dumpy shit of a show.

There has not been a single articulate complaint levied against S1 besides "I don't understand what's going on" or "Black folk!" People who COULD articulate something have nothing negative to say. People who have negative things to say can never articulate anything.

              >There has not been a single articulate complaint
There have been, many times, but they're likely flying over your head given that you're too stupid to understand the difference between an adaptation of an existing story and a continuation of brand new material. You're experiencing confusion caused by your low IQ and inability to parse simple statements, and that very same low IQ then causes you to interpret your own confusion as everyone else's problem. Unfortunately that happens a lot here, more and more every day with the proliferation of smart phones and the browning of the internet.

I agree the two Black folk reduce the quality of the show, especially since they're miscastings. But one of them can act and the one who can't act plays a very small role in S1.

but to pretend that the whole season is ruined because of them? HUGE reach IMO.

The first seasons keeps teetering on the border of being a good adaption. Mostly due to Cavil.
But you can always tell the people who make it just grudgingly follow the source material so they can inject their awful politics and hire none-white sexual deviant friends of theirs.
After the first season it just goes straight to shit, because they trip over the line.

The later seasons were so mind-blowingly bad that you're starting to see a prequel/sequel effect where people fool themselves into thinking the first season was only half bad or something. But it wasn't, it was the drizzling shits from the start. This show never stood a chance.

Yea it was already really bad, bad acted, and the only highlight was Gerard's acting. The rest of the cast sucked, were too fricking brown and gay, the extras did a bad job in the background, the sets were uninspired and boring, it was just shit all around.

All the parts that don't revolve around the travesty they made of the sorceresses were kinda okay, even though they fundamentally changed EVERYTHING about the stories they were allegedly adapting. I would say skip the show entirely, read the short story collections, and play Witcher 3.

The games are excellent, especially 3 which is legitimately one of the greatest video games ever. The books are fun although the main saga drags a lot. There are also a bunch of comics which are pretty good. The show is an abomination.

3 is fine, but I’m tired of hearing it’s one of the greatest ever. Generic combat with batman vision and 90% of the map is pointless bloat like a sunken treasure chest or a monster nest.

Not him, but I think it's perfectly reasonable to say that Witcher 3 is one of the greatest. Your point about the combat and batman vision is true, but that is not the main selling point of the game. It's the story, atmosphere and immersion. On those metrics, it's probably THE greatest video game ever. I've finished Witcher 3 three times, but I got bored of Elden Ring in the middle cause it felt pointless to run from boss to boss in a video game world. However, the combat is better so if you say ER is better, I won't argue it.

The series is filled with all the modern ailments, but the actual Witcher scenes by Cavill were genuinely enjoyable. I'd rather play the game though.

I play games for the gameplay. Crazy, I know.

I don't see how anyone can knock the combat in W3 unless they picked sword and story. You have to utilize ~everything~ in the early-midgame on blood or death.

In the lategame you become an unstoppable death machine no matter the difficulty but you're done with the game by that point so I dunno.

          I loved it.

This is one of my biggest gripes with modern games. I'm playing the witcher 2 right now and it's also the same. Hard as balls at the beginning, yet the game gets easier the further you get. Developers these days just can't get difficulty curves right.

But that is simply the fate of all players who decide to go through every nook and cranny in RPG games. When developers give you chance to control your build, you will inevitably end up with some world ending build they couldn't foresee.

Very sad and very tiresome. They were praising cavill at the beginning for being a big fan of the material and would say how he'd constantly add input to keep it consistent. Then they decided he was problematic because he'd put the brakes on the more moronic shit and had to let him go. Then replaced him with a soulless golem prostitute who will toe the line and not ask questions.

Believe it or not the original books are very close to the TV series (girlbosses everywhere, Geralt basically disappears from the books after the short stories, and then gets killed during a race riot) and yet the producers still managed to completely butcher it.
