Doesn't Alucard get blacke?d
No he got japanesed
Nah, Rice'd
>posers automatically say that it is the best video game adaptation ever
Only counting shows, what else is there? The Mario and Zelda cartoons from the 80s? An anime adaptations of some weeb game? Cyberpunk which doesn't count since it was released later?
>Only counting shows, what else is there? The Mario and Zelda cartoons from the 80s? An anime adaptations of some weeb game?
Thanks for disproving your own point.
>The Mario and Zelda cartoons from the 80s?
those were great and you are a brainwashed zoomer if you think otherwise. They are as accurate to the source material as it could get, and were cultural icons for nearly a decade.
Not growing up with them probably affects my opinion too much, they just seem corny and dated. Though it's not fair to compare those shows to a modern adaptation
It was a genuine question since the other only notable game adaptations I knew were those and the Persona ones
>It was a genuine question since the other only notable game adaptations I knew were those and the Persona ones
Either you are implying the Mario and Zelda cartoons from the 80s are worse than Castlevania (they are not) or excluding anime for some reason.
>they just seem corny and dated.
And Death's speech isn't 9 times worse?
>t. BBC lover
>Cyberpunk which doesn't count since it was released later?
Edgerunners is the best adaptation of a game's open world, it genuinely feels like they simply "filmed" the characters' in 2077's locations and it makes it all the more immersive
You've got a problem with BEYONDO ZA GURAVU?
I do, fuck the second half.
Castlevania had the convenience of being from the initial batch of "infamous Netflix adaptations," before most people caught on to the trend. If it were just coming out for the first time today it'd probably be criticized much more.
>If it were just coming out for the first time today it'd probably be criticized much more.
The IP being dead for years probably helps, too. If it was something like Zelda or Metroid getting this kind of adaptation you'd probably see a louder negative response.
headcanons can never be better than actual adaptations. there's no single definition of "good" and you don't speak for the rest of us, homosexual.
>consoom the goyslop you ingrate!
>still no new game
At least IGA's doing well on his own but this shit being the main Castlevania thing with no signs of a game is depressing
Can't believe they didn't even make a game for this when it was airing, but they did some mobile game that they never got out of beta anyway before shutting it down too
>At least IGA's doing well on his own
IGA didnt invent Castlevania you massive homosexual
Smart anon, all metroidvania shit reeked of homosexualery, alucardfags are just weebs that hate their dads and believed Alucard was cool instead of an even faggier version of Lestat.
nah thats you
Season 3 was shite, but for the most part it was enjoyable. I liked the takes on Trevor and Sypha. Alucard was... tolerable. At times.
And I have to say, the Varney twist was excellently done.
Perfect? No. As much a mix of good and bad as the Sonic movies with the weird "let's all go to a black wedding!" stuff? Yeah.
And it made me laugh more often than the Mario movie.
Jesus fuck the Mario movie sucked. A more "accurate" adaptation, but utterly without charm.
>Jesus fuck the Mario movie sucked. A more "accurate" adaptation, but utterly without charm
Is it weird to say the movie feels hollow? The visuals are there, the references are there, the characters are there(kinda) and it's pretty to look at, but that's it
It's easy to get turned off when they suddenly play anachronistic pop songs.
>Is it weird to say the movie feels hollow?
No, that's absolutely accurate. The movie is as hollow as Illumination's Grinch and Lorax movies. It took something that was never really intended for a feature length adaptation, did it anyway, and had art that was mostly "on point" so it gets a bit of a pass, but with the most paint-by-numbers characterizations possible, and MAYBE five decent laughs in the entire runtime.
>the characters are there
>(kinda)
pick one
It's still heads and shoulders better than the previous Western adaptation of Castlevania III.
Not really.
>alucucks still seething
He's been a "confirmed bachelor" since SotN at the latest, you just don't like seeing it in action. Richter is also canonically the worst Belmont, being the only one to get possessed at the height of his power
Konami didn't really go into detail about how Richter got possessed by Shaft
That was a fun week.
somebody post the blackwashed character
It's funny because most japanese adaptations are even worse.
>Battle Network anime
>DMC anime
>Sonic X
There's something about the property-to-anime process that manages to drain any intrigue from the premise, every single time. I grew up with Pokemon so I'm biased but a lot of people will tell you those are worse than the comics too. The Kirby dub is kino though and I accept no argument
>shitting on the BN anime
I hope you meant just Axess and everything afterward
Anon it was garbage from the jump.
>Lan having a NormalNavi
>getting MegaMan from a software update
>what happened to the NormalNavi is never addressed
It got a whole lot worse once CrossFusion was introduced but that first episode was a 50-square-foot red flag.
Naruto quality animation, I see you agree with me. And that you're uncomfortable your self-insert is revealing things about yourself you'd rather stay closeted.
It was probably a conscious decision to not have MegaMan.EXE be made from what is basically the soul of Lan's dead brother in the anime, for better or worse. Don't like it but that's understandable
>It's funny because most japanese adaptations are even worse.
>trevor fights a screensaver
>shit fuck shit fuck
>Isaac power+privilege plot armor fights Carmilla so that Hector will less to do
>t. projecting homo
The OC shit was more enjoyable than the plot that had the actual Castlevania characters in it
You like Mary Sues.
I don't think he said anything about liking Alucard, no.
>you pile of secrets
That got me
Trevor Sypha and Alucard slaughtering Dracula's Generals then facing off against him was the best part in the show.
I enjoyed that too, but that was basically just two episodes worth of content.
Following the trio after that means having to go through Trevor and Sypha doing dumb village shit while Alucard mopes in a castle with some exotic asian hookers (before going to do dumb village shit)
You're not going to find many defenders of season 3. But if the show had ended with season 2 I would've been more satisfied than I was with basically any video-game adaptation in years*.
For god's sake, some retards made a Carmen Sandiego show where Carmen Sandiego teaches that Stealing Is Wrong. And don't get me started on the "Mega Man has a secret identity" show.
* Sonic Boom was pretty funny, mind you. And I guess it was technically accurate... to the Sonic Boom setting.
>But if the show had ended with season 2 I would've been more satisfied than I was with basically any video-game adaptation in years*.
I'm gonna go further and say if the show had ended with Season 1, it'd probably be remembered the best. Season 2's where the trend of benching the alleged protagonist Trevor Belmont starts, as do all the tedious Game of Thrones plot threads. Leaving off with Season 1 would leave people wanting, but still enjoying what they got.
Had Season 2 been about the guy on CV3's box art like most of Season 1 was, then I might agree with you.
I'd agree that if it'd ended with season 1 it'd leave people wanting more.
Buuuuuuuuut there were enough DAMN good moments in season 2 that I'm willing to take the bad with the good. And I wish it had ended there.
Although I did love Varney being such a smug shit.
>race swapped self-righteous hypocritical bitch
>race swapped self-righteous hypocritical bitch (male)
Wow that looks like shit.
The background here looks like a 3DO game damn. The characters themselves look like a below-average timecrunched anime, but that's admittedly still above average for a non-anime cartoon.
>webgen animation + CGI backgrounds that don't blend with the 2D layers
Lmao at the people who praised this shit.
>It's funny because most japanese adaptations are even worse.
I won't allow you to say that when they gave us that kino SF movie that blows 99% of adaptations out of water.
On that note the Darkstalkers/Vampire OVA was excellent too (as long as you can accept that Donovan is the main character).
>most japanese adaptations are even worse
I have read plenty of kino manga adaptations of japanese vidya. Some of them are considered even better than the source material by the fanbase. Your problem for choosing bad stuff.
>DMC anime
Is canon to the games, plus Dante being bored and depressed when he's not being challenged or in a mission is in character.
The BN anime isn't quite as good as the games but it's definitely closer to the mark than Netflix Castlevania is.
In fact it actually acts as supplementary material pretty often, actually using characters that were mere cameos in the games like Pharaohman
people always mention Sonic X but more than half the show was completelly original, only adapting SA1 and 2 and arguably that one GBA fighter but not really.
didn't Warren Ellis come out and say that he didn't care for the games' story and was basically given carte blanche to do whatever
Yes but that doesn't stop retarded cartoon reviewers singing praise for it.
because everything having to do with video games has to be "dark and mature" now which absolutely definitely isn't a reflection of the people in the industry having an inferiority complex over their choice of medium having the stigma of being "for kids" and looking back on old 1980s-2000s era stuff like it's an old shame despite hypocritically banking on it for nostalgia bucks
Some of the outright best adaptations come from that period where they completely leaned into the characters and the stories without trying so hard to make things "better" and just ended up making them bland and milquetoast
Castlevania was never meant to be “dark and gritty”. It was inspired by Universal and Hammer horror. In fact, being faithful to its roots would’ve helped it have more staying power rather than going the generic route of “dark and gritty” and fading into obscurity after all the buzz died down.
i absolutely hate that homosexual
He got metoo'd and that's a big part of why the show stopped being relevant lol
KWAB
It's hilarious that you think this is as bad as adaptations can get.
You kids have no idea how spoiled you are.
Unironically better than Netflix Castlevania.
>defending this
it is
its just the butthurt religious posters who hate how it savages Christianity
atheism is cringe
The OG Mortal Kombat came out in 1995. Castlevania ain’t got shit on it.
This. The funny thing is while the Castlevania adaptation edgefies the source material and completely sucks while the original Mortal Kombat movie softens everything and it's the best western adaptation of a vídeo game to this day
OG mortal kombat movie was pretty on point.
The second movie was a piece of shit, but the first one got it right.
i actually found Johnny Cages antics funny
>Barely use the music
>Dont use the monsters
Fuck this shit
>doesn't bring up the history between the Belmonts and Dracula
>doesn't even expain the importance of Vampire Killer and treats it as just a "kind of magic wipe"
I dropped this shit midway through season 2 for not doing those two basic fucking things that every Castlevania adaptation should do. Those two things are major parts of the lore
How do you make a Castlevania show and not use the music
Your watch that show and you clearly see the artist wanted to do Castlevania, but the writers didn't want to do Castlvania.
homosexual writers should be fired and blacklisted
They admited that they wanted to do GoT
absolute fucking homosexuals the ironic thing is the game of throne writers didn't want to do GoT in the end KWAB
Your know whats funny? The protagonista never meet Isaac or anyone else in that story.
I just don't understand why there was so little adventuring. The title literally refers to a magical castle that defies the laws of space and time and contains snapshots from other worlds and is inhabited by beings of every mythology and pantheon.
And the writing would rather keep the characters out of it and just use generic demons most the time.
I could forgive stupid character writing and arbitrary changes if what we got was fun and interesting. Instead it almost gets there in season 1 with the cyclops segment and encountering Alucard then just slowly loses momentum from there, eventually just feeling like a bad soap opera. The people working on this clearly didn't see the potential of the setting and would rather chase trends.
Feels like the writers were TV writers who are used to having characters talk in a single room so that's what they did, >Maybe if someone with more animation experience was on the helm they would do more interesting stuff with the setting.
But to say something nice about the show, at least someone was trying to put as much castlevania in the background as they could, every story important demon looks generic but once in a while you see a game accurate monster, or a background detail straight from the games.
WORST ADAPTATION COMIN THROUGH
They went OUT of their way to make this shit bad!
It's Jonah fucking HEX. All you had to do is go into the WB vault, find a decent western name-with-no-name plot, revise it to have the hero scarred and have Jonah's background mentioned maybe once, and you're done!
But instead some retarded exec took a break from fucking wannabe actresses to go "this is a comicbook and therefore a superhero story, therefore gotta have superpowers and fight some big monstrosity final boss!"
And so we get this piece of shit where Hex's scar is directly related to the big bad, the big bad has some giant cannon tower tank thing, and Hex has some native american superpowe to raise the dead souls. Also Megan Fox is there.
