There is something rightly poetic about Black Adam flopping because the Rock couldn’t let go of his grudge against Captain Marvel thinking he was too good to share a movie with Billy Batson

What does he have against Carol?
I loved this movie. I suspect it failed because of extremely poor writing that then had to be fixed up by re-shoots/semi-poor writing. I think under Zaslav, the next one will be fantastic and loved by all.
I honestly believe that critics are boycotting WB movies because of Zaslab.
and I'm 100% behind them.
>le it was falseflag operation
cope the movie was bad thats all
That's not at all what he evens said but okay
Worse than that, it felt like no one on the project saw Shazam. Hey remember how Black Adam was supposed to release the Seven Sins on man, which is what got him banished in the first place?
Rock’s just an ass
He got too famous and he got too rich and he started believing his own myth. Or maybe it's that he's started doubting his own myth as he gets older and took too many "feel-good family roles" and now he's overcompensating trying to be the heel version of The Rock™ again.
The movie doesn't acknowledge the existence of a modern champion or champions at all. Levi could have been with Cavill in the stinger
I’m pissed they send Superman. He’s literally the worst person to fight/intimidate Black Adam.
Why? He's the most powerful.
Magic is sort the thing that bypasses his super toughness
DCEU hasn't encountered magic, though.
Not unless it's specifically super toughness bypassing magic. Even Black Adam can't just outpunch Superman.
See all the times Billy jobbed to Superman.
it's weakness to direct magic, being turned into a frog, not indirect magic, being punched by a magically enhanced fist
...Sure thing buddy
…yes? Supes and Marv can wail on each other all day because magic imbued muscle is still muscle. If a wizard cursed him to shit his pants, there’s nothing he could do about it. Unless it was silver age, in which case he sewed an evil eye talisman into his costume behind the S, which reflects the curse to, say, Jimmy Olsen.
>things from the comics
>things from the movies
Pick only one.
Superman's comic weaknesses have nothing to do with his movie weaknesses.
Otherwise, I'll just post page 1 from Action Comics #1, and say that he's weak to WW2 weapons. Trying to claim the WW2 weakness is like trying to claim comic weaknesses on movie characters.
>He's the most powerful.
Imagine being so obsessed you save things under filenames like that lmao
Because writer fiat has let Black Adam beat up Superman in the comics despite being Shazam's resident jobber
>most powerful
>lost to Spectre, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern etc
I'm pissed that Waller is somehow the authority aka "Not-Fury" they've gone with despite it being really weird. You know if they didn't frick up Wonder Woman so bad, have her first movie in modern day instead of WWI, we could have had Steve Trevor do this
Steve could have been made immortal thanks to Amazon purple ray bullshit or something
Now if only all eleutheromania propaganda films flopped. Unfortunately, that will not happen as long as eleutheromaniacs continue to infest the population and companies continue to to cater to them.
It will not happen as long as you spam that fricking word like an autistic moron. No one likes you shut the frick up
He’s larping as 2 different schizos at once, I can’t tell if it’s genius or moronic
have a nice day, troon, no one likes you
Actually freedom is based as frick. (You) just don't like it.
OP don't pretend you know how hollywood finances work.
It wasn't really bad but not that good enough to be recommendable either, that's the problem
The Rock just knows how this whole thing works. He has to establish himself as a face right away despite the fact the character is intended to be a heel.
Did it actually flop?
It made 300 mill on a 200 mill budget
and considering the Rock was involved they were probably expecting like a billion dollar return
source: my ass but you know its probably true
Yeah.
I mean basically yeah it needed to make at least 400-500 million to be a return on WBs investment. And considering the “Star power” of The Rock they probably were expecting it to at least make a billion
It apparently didn’t profit
This isn't Cinemaphile, anon. Surely you mean Levi, right?
Well it worked for Shazam but not for Black Adam
Shazam had a much lower budget and had barely any marketing also it was actually good so it got plenty of good word of mouth to mean it at least was a moderate success
Shazam has a very sexy handsome protagonist.
I kinda get it. Black Adam would be awkward if he went to anything but Shazam and was suddenly super violent and so instead of muddied beginings, keep them segregate until you can do a worlds collide gimmick. It gambles all future plans on ignoring the key element to the characters everyone is really wanting to see, until down the road, but it undoubtedly would make their eventual meeting more impactful.
Rock's utterly unearned hubris is a huge factor, as well, but in this case there is some method behind the madness. I think it's also obvious that Rock doesn't actually care about the IP and sees the characters as action figures with price tags attached and that disdain cannot be hidden by his overt nice guy act.
OK, Ladderbro.
Why ladders?
what a gay
>flopping
Huh?
It’s apparently not even gonna profit
They put all their eggs in the Dwayne Johnson basket and it backfired
200m production budget vs. 360m worldwide box office, factor in the promotional budget and the fact that most of that box office comes from overseas, and that's a movie that's not drawing a dime, brother.
Movie felt pulled in 30 different directions
watched it last night and it was typical cgslop
Like how Alan Moore got btfo by DC execs over Watchmen soon after he wrote a b***h where Billy would've been bound and gapped before getting his neck snapped by Martian Manhunter disguised as a hooker.
I love how everyone that tries to mess with Billy gets put in their place.
Not Superman
Captain Marvel Curse of Shazam!
*wrote a pitch
This is what happens when they let Hollywood Ego trump the established character and it's fan base they're "adapting"...
Maybe Hollywood finally needs to figure out how the fans and the works they enjoy actually work together?
dwayne has the thinnest of skins
>He sees Black Adam as a his own personal "Brand" and not a character other people have written and drawn up to this point
That's his fricking problem.
What is it with these people thinking a character is "theirs" or "their brand" just because they played them in a movie/cartoon/game? You got Rock acting like Black Adam is his own personal brand, and you even got complete nobodies in the grand scheme of things like Tara Strong claiming that Harley Quinn is "her" character.
Because they're normie parasites who don't care about other people's ideas or effort or production. They just see themselves and only care about the attention they get.
They can't be bothered to read actual comics. They just see something they can dress up as and get attention for. Like they really do no think
>Someone else created this character I like, let me honor them and respect them.
Thought doesn't even cross their mind. Only attention-seeking crosses their mind.
At least Black Panther is underperforming. I’m sore that they didn’t go with the recasting.
>made over $180M in one weekend
>underperforming
blatant cope
It is underperforming. It won’t come close to a billion. But this isn’t about Black Adam.
Hopefully after how much of a disappointment this movie was, Black Adam 2 will be canceled and we'll just get Dwayne as the villain in Shazam 3
He endorsed Biden. He's Cold Product now.
>disservice to the character
Di they actually think Black Adam was a household name?
No, “disservice to the character” is just code for “Dwayne losing to a child”. And he can’t be a bad guy, so that same child can’t convince him to be a good guy.
Dwayne doesn’t care about Black Adam, he cares about being a superhero. It’s why he wants it to be a Superman/Black Adam rivalry rather than the natural Billy/Adam enemy relationship. It’s like if the guy who played Zod demanded to fight Batman just because Batman was more popular, it’s gonna look weird
