Guess the focus will be on Nubian hunters.
Denzel is a great actor and always good in his roles, there was a black guy in the Spartacus series who was also a great character in that show. I don't really have a problem with this except that it is Ridley Scott and he will make a shit movie.
Aethiops.
Inb4 MOORS
Moors didn't exist back then and moors weren't black
Yes
>t. thinks Denzel is black
This. Denzel is just wearing blackface. It's a prank that's gone one for too long tbh.
DAS RITE
There were no flat-tops in ancient Rome!
Fr
yes, the potato moron is unironically more out of place
There were blacks in the original film
There were Ethiopians in Rome at the height of the Empire.
Maximus' buddy in the first one was Djimon Hounsou. The real problem is Denzel is old as fuck to be a gladiator
>happens in the 1960s
>it's kino
>happens now
>it's woke garbage and you won't even give it a chance
why is this?
I gave it a chance and was pleasantly surprised as recently as Expeditions:Rome, but I don't trust modern writers, which is the real heart of all the woke whining.
Writers don’t have a choice a lot of the time - if they want to write the script they have to follow certain guidelines.
having some black as an exotic gladiator is one thing, having a black centurion is another
>thinking they won't have senator bikethiefius and emperor Nigula
>emperor heliogakwanius
Times changed. These people openly admit they have an agenda constantly so there is no denying it. Perhaps it won't be woke but hollywood has fucked up so many times you'd have to be clinically insane to give them the benefit of the doubt.
The times didn't change, you did
No I didn't, gaslighting gay. You can put old films and new films side by side and the differences are immense.
And what would happen if we put the old you side by side with you now, hmmm????
>implying they're mutually-exclusive
Ooferino!
Denzel has been my favorite actor for the past 20 years but writers and producers have time and time again chosen to let quality suffer to push an agenda related to race and I have a feeling that they will do it again. Hopefully that isn't the case this time but I very much doubt it
There’s no room for it in Gladiator. My guess is that he’ll play the part of and older and wiser slave who wants to see other men get freed by training them for the arena the best he can.
>why is this?
Context.
A man that is beating another man on the ground looks like a bully. Even a criminal.
If you learn the man on the ground is the town rapist you will see the situation quite differently.
I'm not saying it's good or bad to jump to conclussions in this particular case. I like Denzel Washington (although I think he's a bit old for action roles, I don't know what will he play) but considering the current context of things I can understand people jumping to conclussions (i.e. Denzel being involved in some corny race bait).
I was being ironical. Mixed race casting especially in period pieces has always caused outrage among staunch racists.
My point is that the film could easily still be kino.
Fuck off the constant monologues of slavery bad was mocked back then. it was so incredibly cheesy at times it was unwatchable
They were more like mercenaries, most of the africans people talk about aren't morons but north african like berbers or mixed populations from the surrounding areas, there were some Ethiopians but these were more like the elite of the empire so they would not be warriors, which i imagine danzel is going to be playing one
>another DiscussingFilm shill post
Fuck off
There were aome in egypt and there was trade with ethiopia, so black gladiators and ethiopian merchants would be okay for exampls. They'll make half of Rome black though
THEY DIDN'T HAVE BOYZ II MEN IN ANCIENT ROME
rome was ethinc, whites were barabrians and had no relevance during the period of history, whites entered the conversation of history after romes downfall
>Ayo we wuz romans n sheeeit
Brownoids and nigs are pathetic
modern world has no resemblance to the pasr, the modern world is artificial and a blight to natural expression
You're Yakub's failed experiment
>You're
I don’t talk to, nor listen to lower (poo coloured) “people”
Dimwit detected
>ethnic
got back to incel tv shitskin lmao
dont know the meaning of the word
I wouldn’t mind having a pow-wow with her if you know what I mean.
This one is gone be a hoot, I tell you what.
How does anyone not realise this closeted gay man is just making money of peddling his sexual fantasies?
Didn't he say big-donged elephants buck broke slaves on the regular?
I can’t think of a single thing about gladiator 2 that would work
Yes.
What happened to this dude? Haven't seen him in a minute
he has a secondary role in Shazam
well
>gladiators
>are clearly greek hoplites
how did macbeth do
>The year is 2000
>Gladiator releases to critical and commercial acclaim
>In it, a Spanish soldier (played by an Australian) fights through gladiator battles in ancient Rome and attains a black best friend
>No one complains because everyone knows that black people didn't pop into existence in 1980s America
>20 years later
>Gladiator gets a sequel
>A black actor is rumoured to have a role
>4chanchuds literally lose their minds screeching and hollering
There was everybody in the ancient world, it was all connected
>There were basketball americans in ancient Rome?
Did you not watch the first Gladiator?
Do you have no idea of Roman history? Enslaving Africans is as old as the garden gnomes.
ancient slavery wasn't based on race, it was usually just all the lowlifes or POWs
and black slavery was relatively rare as they all stayed in Africa most of the time, but in Rome some did travel, mercenaries, sometimes merchants
it's actually amazing that Gladiator remains unpozzed 20+ years later
