Can someone explain to me why using "they/their" to refer to alternative gender people is preferable to using "ze/zhey"? The former just seems like bad grammer to me. Ze and Zhey are more preferable because they can be unique indicators of alternative gender. Using their/they requires people to put extra thought into the context of the sentence.
