Yikes, that was pretty bad. I enjoyed the movie but there were some misses, so I guess I shouldn't expect too much from the new show.

I disagree. TikTok isn't a format that's going to die anytime soon and you could argue that the hair metal videos dated the original run of the series but those are still funny. Using the term "reacting" dates you as a zoomer.
Hair Metal was already "out" in 1993. They riffed on it because it was old and uncool. They made fun of it when they showed that shit, and then they went and showed real obscure alt rock that I still can't find online to this day.
Judge personally picked the videos in line with his own taste in music and comedic value in shitting on them. The music video segments were largely improvised. Beavis & Butthead watching TikTok videos makes sense in current year (just as watching clips of dumb reality shows like 16 & Pregnant or Jersey Shore made sense 10 years ago). It's what kids watch nowadays and at worst is will eventually become a time capsule (just like the original run of B&B is now).

I'm in the opposite camp. Beavis & Butthead are quintessential 90s teenagers, if they'd grown up in the 2000s they wouldn't be the same characters. It's better to just bullshit them into living in the 2020s despite coming from the 90s.
B&B aren't quintessential teenagers of any era, they're a timeless product of Texas culture, born to drug-addicted mothers. Their stupidity was never emblematic or representative of what typical 90s teens are like, it was pushed by their circumstances as parentless, stupid children.
