This frightens the streamer cuck

It is the duty of every redblooded Cinemaphile patrician to curate their own collection, procure in the way they deem fit and consume it they way they believe is best.

It is very telling how fast shills will appear out of the woodwork to attempt to convince you otherwise. These people deserve nothing but your contempt.

Plex and other freeware like it run on your media server so you can stream your media from anywhere.

You can watch your collection at work, during commute and on your TV without dealing with the actual files or cables.

          Anonymous

Your PC functions as the server. As long as you have the storage size necessary for all those shows and movies, you can carry it all yourself. But your PC of course needs to be turned on and stay on in order for it to stream.

I mean, that would be amazing but we have to remember that these freeware things are meant for piracy.

The only way Plex is even allowed to do their thing is because they don't offer the piracy themselves, just the convenience of streaming your files with a nice UI.

radarr/sonarr/prowler will allow you to automate the search/download of new stuff
there's some more apps you can use for music/porn/books/subtitles
kodi on your HTPC will give you a nice interface to your media, that should ideally be stored on a NAS
jellyfin/plex will give you the ability to stream (and optionally transcode) to multiple devices, even outside your LAN

imo radarr/sonarr/etc *arr apprs/kodi should be used by everyone
jellyfin/plex only if you want to be able to watch your shit remotely, over the internet

      >but i just wanna pirate a movie, watch it, delete it
      sure, nothing wrong with that
but you can, if you want to, make a much nicer and automated setup

You can but you have to root the tv. It's on the homebrew store.

              Anonymous

It's the same, yes. Small chance of bricking. Reset your tv to reverse it. I've had it rooted for over a year with no problems or angry chink emails.

                Anonymous

There's always a chance of bricking when doing an exploit. It's a one time thing. You don't have to do it every time. For what it's worth it's really small if you follow the moron-proof instructions. I just did it because I occasionally watch israelitetube and got tired of ads.
