How much is that just because of Goggins? Good lord that man just sweats amazing performances

goggins is one of the best actors but, the bald headed one gives the noble corrupt cop performance of a lifetime, while the show is a lot of dirty cops breaking down doors with shotguns going ham the other portion of it (pic related) is a clean detective researching serious crimes every ep like a superior Law and Order, alot of tragic irony with him too

Goggins did a lot of great work and made Shane a character that will stick with me forever, but there were tons of great performances. Even Anthony Anderson will always be Antwon for me.

Goggins is perfect, but I would argue that it's not so much Goggins by himself but his chemistry with Chiklis that makes the whole thing work
same with Chiklis and Martinez (Aceveda); always the perfect amount of tension between them
CCH Pounder (and to a lesser extent, Jay Karnes) often doesn't get enough recognition either, and again the dynamic between Dutch and Claudette just couldn't have been done better. One can easily imagine the audience tuning out and thinking
      >'when do we get back to the Strike Team?'
if they weren't so capable and interesting in their own right

it is police procedural but the only one ive ever thought was worth watching, theres an overarching story too which is the main focus but the week to week cases are more engaging than any other cop show ive ever seen

It is an american cop-show, but it’s easily the best. It has more to offer than your usual csi crap.

it can feel a little transparent when they try to give everyone screentime, i like having characters who just stay undercooked

kek I always think of this after watching Sunny first

  14. 4 weeks ago

I gave it up about halfway through season 2. It's not a good character drama. Only Vic and Aceveda feel somewhat close to fleshed-out. The rest are whatever. Dutch is comic relief, the woman and her gay black cop partner have a couple of neat moments but aren't very interesting beyond that. Vic's crew barely get anything except for Black person-word-man occasionally getting remorseful about whacking the undercover dude in the first episode, and being incompetent. I think I reached an episode where they break up a wiener-fighting ring and the blonde guy has some line about how roosters are a beautiful creature like lol okay THAT'S your first attempt at giving this guy some attention? Vic's wife is one-note too.
The only real selling point is the shocking moments and the refusal to pull punches. I appreciated stuff like giving the woman cop (sorry I forget her name) some lines about how they needed to put fear back into the public after a cop got shot. And the 2 gangsters getting locked into the shipping container overnight to sort out their differences and you expect the generic ending where they make an agreement but no one just beats the other to death, kek. And of course the undercover guy just getting fricking shot in the first episode. That stuff was cool, but not enough to keep me watching.
