most japanese today do not really think like this. most modern japanese think the way japan acted during ww2 was incredibly barbaric and some of the more educated of their populace even believe the american injections into japan after the war (resources, education systems from our 40s schools, etc) served to propel japan into the future in record time (which it did)
this isnt to say they are thankful for the war or getting nuked, but they are smart people and understand the pros and cons

To be honest, it's understandable that, from an american or korean or maybe other asians perspectives, people be like:

The shrine for the Japanese war dead since the 19th century is now called war criminal shrine and PM hasn't been able to visit there for more than a decade.
