      Ex-Loudgay here
You remember how much Loud House fans seethed and shat their pants over this? All the fanfics and reviews calling it "meanspirited" and "abusive" and malding for years to the point some gays even managed to get Savino to backtrack on it recently?

It turns out that this was just scratching the surface of what I like to call "cartoon family drama porn"
Zoomers and alpha kids are absolutely obsessed with things being wholesome chonkin friendly slice of life and get extraordinarily upset at anything that might be "problematic" or unnecessarily realistic, and there's nothing that autists and ADHD teens and manchildren get more upset over than a cartoon protagonist being """abused""" by his family
It's fanfic and fandom rage fuel for them to want to fantasize about swooping in an adopting an abused child and rescuing him/her from his evil parents because they in real life wish someone did the same for them because their parents didn't buy them the right Nintendo Switch games or they watched Daddy O Five years ago and self inserted as Cody.
They're on the prowl to moral grandstand about child abuse (which is funny because so many support troons and groomers) and go out of their way to make themselves angry about fictional characters in silly cartoons being mistreated

These are the same people that love Gohan from Dragonball Z and use him in Linkin Park AMVs because he appeals to their sensibilities of being a timid shy child constantly beaten down by others with a violent wrathful "beast" underneath the surface that will make everyone pay when he's pushed too far.

Horrid Henry is just the latest source of rage infatuation from Twittoid Zoomers because they see that Henry's family are brutal to him (because he's a total brat by design) and want to fantasize about Henry getting help, therapy, and revenge, while also raging against Henry's parents and making themselves feel good about "putting child abusers in their place"
Even though, again, they're fictional cartoon characters

/tlhg/ gave the people who did that so much shit for even trying and because it benefited Lucygays, but the longterm results of it killing off 99% of the remaining b***hing about NSL made me realize the original guys had a point when they said that it was more embarrassing everyone b***hed for years in the form of hatefics and hurtfics and shitty art instead of spending a few hours trying to talk to Nickelodeon/Chris Savino.
But on that note, I'm kinda nostalgic for all the 2017 runaway hurt comfort fics and hope that some new show comes along to recapture the autistic rage fire somehow (the irony if it's the Sister Chronicles and Lucy's the focal point instead of Lincoln). The Proud Family locked out moment had the Twittoid rage but no fanfics because no one cares about the Proud Family reboot except Twitter.

Part of that comes from Loudhouse's insane (literally) fandom in 2016. It was like TADC levels of active and annoying.
For another show to recapture the magic and bring us more hilariously dark hurt fanfiction, it would need to blow up to those same levels and have enough waifus to justify horny fanfics and divide readers between the autists wanting to love the "abused child" and the waifugays wanting to defend their waifus from any consequences and criticism.
So far I don't know of any show coming up that has that same potential. Unless Vivziepop wants to try her hand at a slice of life show about a kid with a harem's worth of sisters or female friends.

So one guy posted these stitched together clips of Henry's parents punishing him without reason. Stuff like his brother spraying him with a hose and his dad sees that he's all wet and assumes Henry did it. Now it has moronic anons assuming people just hate the parents for their own parentless lives.

      It's weird to me.
Parents hated Caillou because their kids mimicked him.
A lot of people hated DW because they grew up with a sibling like her and she hit extremely close to home for those people if said sibling was continually spoiled.
I'm guessing this took off because a lot of people had parents like Henry's. Yet Henry himself seems like a complete brat and reading over the synopsis of the books, it feels like all his parents did was scold him and send him to his room while problems only arose when Peter was involved

        >Yet Henry himself seems like a complete brat and reading over the synopsis of the books
They lowered Henry's misbehaviour way down in the cartoon, there he acts like a normal kid although his parents still call him horrid for every little thing he does.
But yes, he is a psycho in the books lol

          I feel like

Henry's parents comes across as stereotypical cartoon parents without the irony or joke attached to them. Timmy Turner's parents and Ren from R&S are extremely likable despite their abusive antics towards "innocent" characters because there's satire involved, the innocent characters deserve it, or the abusers themselves are funny to watch altogether. Henry's parents seem insufferable for the sake of it and their actions towards Henry probably hits too close to home for it to enjoyable for a lot of people. I've never watch the show outside of those clips but it is hilarious to see the type of sardonic behavior on display with how they can be just so mean to the boy

hits it on the head. They try to make the kids in these shows act like realistic to make them relatable to little kids but that means as you get older, some stuff no longer feels as funny.
I mentioned DW and she annoys so many people because a lot of people had a sibling like that and a sibling who was spoiled like that.
People tried to replicate the DW hate with Ruby from Max and Ruby and it didn't hit the mark nearly as well.

It sounds like that would become abusive only because of the formulaic nature because they're being read with this autistic lens of having the continuity of a story that takes itself seriously.
Letting the one sibling do that while the other is being punished is just shitty parenting but happens in tons of households before the parents that it's a one way ticket to a fight.
