this movie has some my generation reminiscing about their clubbing days on tiktok and that gives me a little satisfaction know they still haven't moved from that era in their 30's, not only cause it all the women who was the biggest b***hes at the time but also cause i feel like they think that that was their glory days and they are never coming back
probably makes me a bit stunted and bitter to take some semblance of enjoyment out of that, but i don't forgive and forget so easily

Your glory days must be gone too, if you're posting on Cinemaphile. Are you going to deny it?

Anyone who says that just has terrible memory. This place is very different to what it used to be, but you either weren't here, or you don't remember. Go ahead and scroll down the front page, and keep in mind every post is made by a non-white or woman, and then you'll see how different it is. It's not even close to what it used to be.

on the surface it's still the same which is all i care about, i don't care who uses this place now, i know many of them were born after 2000 now for one and that doesn't bother me

Mhm. That's okay. You can speak to one of the new people after I've filtered this thread. Keep in mind I have the rest of the board filtered too. Consider what I said about the horrible new people. Spend some time here and you'll see that they ruined the place.

This place has been pretty stagnant this moot left, maybe even before then. Maybe you could say that the 2016 election added more people but it's still basically the same behavior, just with more people.

This place has been the same since 2016 when trump was big. It’s the same jokes, same threads, same everything - apart from any of the effort involved

The difference is that the people on the left grew up and moved on (mostly) and were just being edgy and ironic, and the group on the right actually wish that Hitler was in charge. You all ruined the edgy internet for yourselves. congratulations, you played yourselves.

Honestly, I think /b/ being a hollow shell of its former self is really when the website started becoming totally derivative. I’m not exactly sure when that happened, but /b/ used to be the board I browsed the most. Nowadays I don’t even think to go there.

/b/ was such a fun place to browse, now its just full of coomers, i suppose it was always heading that way. i remember when traps weren't big and people used to accuse /b/ of making them gay,

This is a flat out lie. You are an even bigger liar than the guy claiming we were always Nazis.

The BBC stuff didn't start until after the reactionaries flooded the site.

i actualy think Cinemaphile is the last place on the internet for free speech. psyops destroyed /b/ and will eventually ruin the rest of the website one board at a time

Why was this film set in 2006? There was no reference to the year, no set dressing to make it look like 2006, no pop culture references. Just music, which doesn’t count because loads of films use music recorded before a certain date. When I watched it with my gf I asked her and she (who had seen the film twice already) genuinely forgot that it was 2006.

It was when Emerald Fennell was roughly the same age as the characters and attending Oxford University herself.

Because zoomers literally do nothing. You can't have a movie like this in this era because no one parties. There will never be movies about the zoomer era because there is nothing to say, except for movies that mock them, and there will be plenty of them in the future. 1993 borns has more in common with anyone born beforehand than someone born in 98. The post human era.

Okay…could’ve been set in 2012, or 2018, or 2004…in fact it didn’t even need to be set at any time, it wasn’t exactly like the characters kept saying “so, are you looking forward to the World Cup held in Germany this year?”. It’s a small thing but it further cements that this film is poorly written slop.

It could not of been set in 2018 because once again, zoomers don't party.
