The white man that was portrayed as being in the wrong throughout the entire movie and only became "good" once he was able to confront his white privilege and male toxicity. Batman is linked to Riddler and the Riddler's goons who all were Cinemaphile posters.

Batman is LITERALLY a right wing fantasy. A heavily conservative, oligarchical straight white christian man saves the city from the mentally ill and villainous underbelly of a metropolitan New York like city with his money and fists all while SUPPORTING the police department. The Riddler was right wing coded…BECAUSE he thought he was helping Batman lmao

Seriously how does nobody fricking get this? Batman is right wing in it's purest, most incorruptible form. More liberal and you get Nightwing. Corrupted and it's Red Hood. Pipe dream bullshit and it's Damien or Drake.

You guys are right and that's why the whole movie was about Batman checking his privilege and acknowledging his toxic masculinity. It was made for the gays on twitter that complain that batman should put his wealth towards social programs instead of beating up mentally ill people.

The movie was about Bruce realizing that Batman is dangerous as an idea when aimlessly targeting criminality for the sake of it (which is why Riddler was the villain) and that to be the ideal Gotham strives for he must mature and be better by finding his humanity.

Riddlers biggest failure in the film was not realIzing that Batman was Bruce Wayne because he didn’t care about the person UNDER the mask; to Riddler and the people of Gotham Batman wasn’t human up to that point, and it was Riddler’s folly that Bruce Wayne who he was demonizing was RIGHT in the front of him the whole fricking time and he couldn't see it.

The whole movie was about him BECOMING that right wing fantasy from the comics by finding his underlying humanity and becoming a beacon of hope and freedom to the downtrodden. He’s going to immediately go atop rioters and looters at the end of the movie and the people of Gotham are going to love him because now they see he’s a person under the scare outfit. The movie absolutely had some dumb shit in it but cmon the message is absolutely based and paints Bruce as a saintly white savior.

This, I think I actually really like it on my second viewing (besides how convoluted the finale feels), this movie would have been hated by leftists so much if it were released in 2020.

It’s kind of sad that you can’t see it. The movie is an incredible Batman character piece, you just can’t see past your narrow worldview (even though the movies main message agrees with it). It’s not coping to realize that the character of Batman is strictly a right wing power fantasy and the movie does that aspect justice while championing him as a hero.

                >It’s not coping to realize that the character of Batman is strictly a right wing power fantasy and the movie does that aspect justice while championing him as a hero.
See, the Batman may be a right wing power fantasy and the movie ultimately fails at what is trying to do precisely because it needs to shill out spin-offs and sequels so it can't just have Bruce Wayne hanging up the cowl, but you're coping hard if you think the movie isn't trying to portrayal Bruce Wayne as a toxic white male full of unhealthy rage and an out of touch privilege sob who doesn't know shit about what is going on.
The movie isn't subtle at all about what is trying to do. From Riddler being some awkward incel, to Riddler's followers being nothing but a bunch of copycats recruited from not-Cinemaphile, to Batman realizing that he hasn't been any better than Riddler and his followers. The movie literally ends with Bruce taking to heart Catwoman and the black mayor's criticisms and deciding to become an "ally".

The only real issue with the message is, again, that the movie is nothing but a soulless product made to shill out more soulless products, so because the movie needs more Batman they are forced to ignore the fact that deep down Batman is nothing but a right wing power fantasy. They try to gloss over that by pushing some bullshit about Batman now being more of a rescuer or some bullshit, but we all know that in the spin-offs or sequels they'll be right back to using all the known Batman tropes.

But the movie isn't "smart" or secretly "red pilled" like you shills and copers are trying to push. It didn't worked when you were trying to market Peacemaker, it won't work now.

I’m as right wing as they come, and people like you are what leftists point to and call “crybabies”. There isn’t some secret anti YOU agenda to the movie, it’s mainly a character piece that toothlessly interrogates this particular multiverse numbered character of Batman in his early, angry years.

Bruce IS acting toxic, because he’s lost and angry, not because he’s a male.

The Riddler was always an awkward freak, the movie portrays him as wrong and the handsome white hero as right.

I already explained why Batman with no goals or ideals is dangerous, because people want to emulate him and his revenge fantasy.

                >Batman with bo goal or ideal to strive towards is an ineffectual brute who lets his own biases and aggression subtract from his heroism.
Now ask yourself, why Batman had no goal or ideal in this movie and was nothing but a drumb emo brute? It's because the movie wanted to shit on the character to push its anti-white bullshit, you dumbfrick.

It’s because this is Matt Reeve’s particular version of the character that is in his own canon and universe. Batfleck also had a movie interrogating him for being a drunkard, womanizing murderer but we all loved that.

I love the character of Batman, and the movie did right by me. I never said the movie didn’t have absolutely moronic things in it, only that the character of Batman was done justice because it stuck true to his right wing values baked into the character. The c**t mayor should have died when she got shot and Gordon should never have been black, I get it, but your anger at those things is blinding you from the movies actual themes

                >implying she wont just come crawling back in the sequel anyway
battinson was very based. i also thought it was hilarious how she went on that little tirade about bruce wayne, basically realizes he is bruce wayne, then decides she doesnt actually give a frick and just wants to knock boots. their fight scene in the mayors penthouse was real slick too, showing how ineffectual she was against him and how he was just tossing her around like a rag doll.

Indeed, it’s just a shame some of the choices they made (Bella REAL being a black 27 year old progressive mayor, the white privilege line, black gordon, etc) will turn people away from a very VERY great portrayal of Batman himself

The movie spells it out for you with the carpet tugger; a rich boy like Bruce Wayne will probably have never seen one of these in his life. His flaw in the movie is his lack of humanity/connection to the humanity of Gotham, the common folk, etc.

By the end of the movie he’s become the real Batman and will continue to be better.

Not “wrong”, just misguided. He wanted everyone to fear him because they were going to be brutalized, but by the end of the movie he’s more like the Batman from the comics. The white privileged line was stupid but what Riddler said was 100% true and Bruce need to address that within himself to understand WHY Gotham was the way it was. It was a fairly toothless assessment of Batmans negative qualities and by the end he’s a messianic white savior

This. The movie isn’t saying Bruce is wrong for being Batman, only that he’s Batman for the wrong reasons. There’s no clear goal, no ideal or mission, he just wants to beat the tar out of criminals which in turn inspires more criminals. The movies message was that Batman is a good thing when he’s using his abilities to build a better Gotham instead of just beating the shit out of every criminal he sees. In the sequel they’ll be just as afraid of him and he’ll still beat the poss put of criminals, but he’ll be working towards something tangible and open to being a better human being.

Rewatching it right now, I really like that hospital scene with Bruce and Alfred.
Honestly the only thing I don’t like in it is the finale with the Mayor, I wish they would have made the Riddler’s knowledge of Batman’s identity ambiguous and expose Real as being the Penguin’s puppet or something instead of that dumb flood plot.
