only thing is that the ending, particularly the final scene, feels extremely rushed and made for TV rather than play to what the actual fate was
The last season sucked. The Rosetti character was well acted but I tired of his bullshit. I didn't care about Jimmy's mom, the mask guy, Margaret, or Eli's son. Chalky's arc went full moron the last couple seasons. They wasted a bunch of time on boring filler and then had to rush through Lucciano/Capone and had to kill Rothstein off screen. They introduced Narcisse and then did basically nothing with him.
kino take
moron take
>rothstein just disappears in between seasons and is never mentioned despite being one of Nuck the Duck's central rivals for a large part of the show
yeah it sure was quality when that happened. couldnt be a rush job
s1 + s2 = kino
s3 = surprisingly still kino
s4 + s5 = garbage slop for cuck homosexuals like OP
truer words never spoken.
The end of season 2 was clearly supposed to be the end of the show or close to it, they just bumped it all the way up because Jimmy's actor was too based behind the scenes and pissed everyone off. Keeping the show going after closing out the central arc was always going to be seemingly moronic, and yet s3 was magnificent and pulled it off.
4 is trash and 5 is somehow even worse, one of the worst things I've actually watched to completion ever.
This show should've been massive. Steve Buscemi as the lead killed it's momentum before it even got started. i remember showing my friend this show and he said 'that's the main guy? pass'
>i remember showing my friend this show and he said 'that's the main guy? pass'
There's a reason why Hollywood used to cast good looking people as the leads.
I never really got this criticism of the show. Buscemi is great as a fake little weasel who thinks he’s better than everyone else. Sure he’s not a leading man but Nucky never had a leading man personality
It doesn't matter how he was as the character or whatever the character is supposed to be. You see him as the supposed lead, your interest drops or doesn't manifest at all. Simple as. If it had been nearly anyone else, the show would've had way more momentum and legacy.
Indeed. I watched The Shield long before any Cinemaphile threads just because the main guy, Chiklis, looked cool and interesting. Same thing with that gay show Hannibal and Mads Mikkelsen. Or any other show with an attractive female, even better example.
>gay for the commish and the druk guy.
>uuhhh chicks man!
What an asinine deduction from my post. Hey, man, being gay apparently is a virtue these days so you might as well come out of that dusty closet.
Gay
Steve Buscemi was great as Nucky though. Invalid opinion. His appearance/prestige should've only impacted initial interest, after it was confirmed the show had legs everyone with a high IQ should have given it a chance.
The show just fizzled out to the finish line. It never got that popularity that it should've with how HBO shilled it beforehand. Buscemi as lead is a sticking point, always has been. Him being "great" doesn't factor into it as most people are really that superificial and in this case, I don't blame them.
Yes you have a low IQ you've made that clear.
>le crazy gip
>le ebin narcissus
>killing off van alden because le shocking
Nah last seasons were peak reddit
Gyp and Narcisse were some of the greatest Cinemaphile villain of all times, you contrarian. Van Alden's death is also arguably the best scene in the entire series.
Narcisse was boring and uncomfortable in a bad way.
Jimmy was where the show was supposed to pivot towards but his actor was too much of dick IRL so he got axed. The show lacked complete direction after that
jimmy 4 life
Ole king TUT TUT TUT
S3 was fricking terrible and Rosetti is the worst character in the whole show
S4 is actually not terrible
S5 could’ve been kino but it was rushed
>we will never get a BWE HBO universe
I’d watch an odd couple comedy of van mueller and eli as Al Capones low level enforcers. A hell of a lot more intersiting than Florida land deals
I liked it
But it's goofy and corny as frick. Lots of cliche scenes, some villain cliches get repeated over and over.
Still, it's not bad. The setting is very believably done and I think Buscemi did fine in the leading role.
What the show really needed was the 'lost' season that was meant to bridge the gap between S4 and 5
>Rothstein's death
>Onset of the depression
>Hoover building Bureau up
harrow was supposed to be a tragic character but aside from one of the kids no one actually ever reacted to his disfigurement. then they turned him into epic action john wick one season later
this show would have been good if they had a small (10 minutes maximum) scene of shota jimmy being molested by his mother every episode
It dropped after Season 3, frick off homosexual
i actually think it was better once that annoying domerty fricking died. he was a crybaby loser
>watch it because 1930's bootlegging crime drama concept sounds kino
>only one good character (Jimmy) the rest of the show is insufferable
>le KKK is le bad, le cuck who lets a nog frick his wife, the dyke storyline
Scorsese was a hack from this moment, for producing this garbage.
this whole show is just waiting for the next Nelson or Rothstein scene
only interesting parts of the show
TO THE LOST!
jimmychads we fricking won!!!
Agree. I always thought people that say it got bad after s2 watched it just to see Michael pitt in it. I only wish they didn't rush them at the end
Bad thing is we aren't going to have a proper gangster series set in the 1920s in a long time.
Why?
They had no idea where to go with the story after Jimmy. They had to introduce a completely new villain and milk Al Capone's Chicago operations for every minute they were worth. Then in season 4 they start focusing on Chalky for some reason, a supporting character who was clearly not written to carry a whole season.
Frick Jimmy. It was a story about Nucky, not that loser. I loved when Nucky killed him.
Series was great. It only needed a propper final season and less of mask guy sob story
