It was an okay show. It didn’t know what it wanted to be
    >let’s be an action show with overarching storylines
    >no wait let’s be a child friendly show and teach morals and feelings
    >no wait let’s be a shit post show and have meta moments and 4th wall breaks
It’s hard to say a show is good good if one minute it’s ab KO fighting his evil self and the next is about ko talking about what to pack when going to the forest.
    >not to mention the confusing writing choices

The way I see it, it's Ian getting the rare opportunity to put almost all of what he wanted into his own show. It's not perfect especially in the last season, but I can't help but respect all the little nods and winks that would fly over most people's heads unless you where in a very specific age group.

it very deliberately wanted to be all of those things, it's like a kid's notebook drawings animated for television, they hid that stupid ass S in every episode. It was never that deep.

I can't watch this show without reading RPG World. Can someone tell me what parts are actually important and which are just boring nonsense where Ianj draws a bunch of blowup dolls?

Are you asking that about RPG World or OK KO?

RPG World. I'll watch all of OK KO even if there's a shark jump.

I loved it, myself. My favorite CN original ever.

I like the world, the characters, I like that it can just be goofy. Just all kinda comes together for me. Wish it got more, but in this day and age three seasons is pretty fricking good.

    Beanmouth show

Supposedly influenced by Dragonball, but missed almost everything that made that meaningful. Most evident in its pilot, which even got Stephanie Nadolny, but then reneged on all that

Needed to be an action show, but CN didn't do serious action shows anymore. Should have been made concurrently with Teen Titans, Ben 10, Generator Rex, or Young Justice to get around that

Loreshow instead of a full ongoing serialized narrative

It had everything it needed to be a great CN show, but CN itself and the zeitgeist of its age destroyed its potential. It absolutely needed to be made 5 to 10 years before it did to escape the Millennial beanmouth menace.

Then make it an action comedy like OG Dragon Ball.

I think it was kind of a loving parody of the zeitgeist that the writer's grew up with. Just throwing together every "cool thing" from their youth into this hodgepodge farcical coalescence of a setting, almost like Venture Bros for millenials/gen z. Which I think was ultimately it's weakness in that the creatives made the show that THEY wanted to watch and if you were in the right audience for that (like myself) it felt tailor-made to your cultural sensibilities and experiences but I have to imagine for others it just seemed nonsensical.

More like for the upper middle class. If you're in the lower classes and enjoy anime and fighting games, you're not going to like this.

Too much references, too little substance, and apparently people hated the designs and the characters being deliberately off-model. It was a very self-indulgent show, and because it was created by Rebecca Sugar's husband who allowed his crew to be as horny as humanly possible, it also turned out very gay. Some people liked this, some people did not.

Every member of the crew was openly inserting their fetishes and horny OCs donut steelz, like this planet-voring buff lizard mommy. There was a lot of fujos and gays on the crew (also furries and Sonic fans) so the show turned out pretty gay.

I remember one of the artists tried to justify the ball hands by claiming it came from Sonic CD's intro. Thing is, Sonic only had ball hands when he was in motion, but had regular hands and fingers when still.

  17. 2 weeks ago

Man remember that episode that did the "it's actually a show within a show" bit and a bunch of fans got, like, personally offended that the fictional events of a fiction were presented as fictional? To the point where Ian actually had to come out and "clarify" it was AU that didn't effect the canon, and then this actually placated them. Genuinely fascinating to me because it seems like the relatively recent emphasis of things like maintaining continuity and having a "one true canon" where everything happened for real has poisoned peoples ability to recognize that stories for *storytelling* and not transdimensional documentaries of actual events. Even if it means creating absurd umbrella multiverses because every instance of Cpt. America has to have "happened" just as much as the others lest they somehow invalidate the unexistant events of each continuity.

it's a show with a lot of promise held back by mediocre-to-terrible execution and doesn't seem to be written for kids at all, but for maladjusted 20-somethings and queer fandom teens, and I mean it in the worst way possible. it demands my respect when it can barely respect itself, and for every good thing the show does it's counteracted by writers making fricking twitter clapback argument episodes that only the most twisted, depraved freaks of nature (like me) could ever possibly understand.

the pilot and pre-premiere shorts were fun and didn't lose itself entirely in the touchy-feely homosexual shit the final show became full of. if the boarders knew how to direct the overseas animation slaves to not completely bork the spacing of their mediocre action sequences and the writers didn't spend every chance they could to slip some deranged internet fandom shit invented by deranged fujo/chris-chan pedophiles, it could've been fun and campy

that whole episode is something I wouldn't let anyone impressionable near with a 10-foot clown pole if only to prevent another pervert like me outrageously attracted to rabbit enid

I remember one of the artists tried to justify the ball hands by claiming it came from Sonic CD's intro. Thing is, Sonic only had ball hands when he was in motion, but had regular hands and fingers when still.

it's that kind of superficial referencing and deflection of laziness that really burns me up about this show when it can clearly be something more
