That is really cringe in that it's on the nose and protracted beyond any need for it.
          Or a joke.
And the trans guy in the massive trans flag shirt so you REALLY can't miss it...
That's just virtue signalling with a megaphone.
          >Look, we are talking about period products! Aren't we oh so progressive!?

Turning Red actually had a point to the whole thing.
The mom was over-preparing and freaking out.
The public humiliation aspect drove the central conflict.
Mei's assertion of boundaries and interests just is, among a lot of things, about her mom's indiscretion. It's never about the pads, it's all about what they mean.

A robot finding EVERYONE REALLY wants to talk about period products while being itself completely devoid of any cultural or personal meaning relating to them has just nothing to do with the story.

So, to test the assertions, let's see if changing the object presented changes the scene.
Let's say a lunch of some description.
Mom turning up with a lunch bag makes the scene lose all emotional punch. It's no longer a moment of personal humiliation stemming from anxiety, shame and stigma but just mom being completely tactless.
Now with the robot who has no concept of human dietary preferences the scene works just as well if they discuss the merits of various breads. In that it means absolutely nothing. Except it's maybe funnier because the idea that anyone has attachment to American "bread" is so absurd.

Listen. I know you literal homosexuals don't leave the house much, but all of that violence towards homosexuals and troons that you've been larping about for years, it feels closer to reality now than ever before. If you do go out, dress inconspicuously and dial back the homosexualry to like 0. Your "self-expression" of your mental illnesses aren't going to matter if you're not around anymore. This is not a threat in any way, it's a warning in good faith. Be careful out there homosexuals.

              >While not focusing on severe mental illness, there is a substantial literature addressing other domains of mental health and illness among LGBT populations. For example, non-heterosexual populations have been found to experience a considerably greater prevalence of depressive episodes (adjusted odds ratio (OR) = 1.80) and suicide attempts (OR = 2.21) relative to general populations(3). While the literature on transgender populations is more limited, suicide attempt rates among transgender and gender non-conforming adults have been found to be markedly higher than that of the general population (e.g., 41% versus 4.6% lifetime suicide attempt)(4).

Western animation is officially dead. Makes me nostalgic for the time when Pixar was dishing out amazing carefully crafted stories that featured prominent white male heroes. But now alas Pixar jumped the shark and now pushes out nothing but woke trash, things that me and a lot of other people can't empathize with because the stories and protags and charas are too distant from those who were the original and broadest demographic for these films. It's a very sad day to the point of depressive and suicidal thoughts. When I was a boy I looked up to the many male heroes of Disney films, they influenced who I am. Now I read up on philosophy, practice nofap and dedicate my time to the beliefs I hold. This film is like if the muslims won the crusades, they would have caused irreparable damage to the world and pozz the frick out of us. This film is just that, a catalyst for the degeneration of the west, I have no seen a loss this huge since The Axis Powers lost. We've tried to be peaceful but the left has done nothing but attack us from all sides, trying to crumble our peaceful ways by assaulting every faucet of the stuff we grew up on with a tsunami of wokeness and in the end they won. It's depressing and the future looks bleak and hopeless.

We went through 100 years of animation without putting condoms or dildos or masturbation jokes in a Disney movie, but after less than 10 years of female involvement we're getting sanitary pads, tampons and trannies. They just can't help themselves.

        Bait post, but to steelman;

Imagine a movie centered around wet dreams. Or masturbation. Or erections. Like Turning Red but instead of a girl and a red panda it's a boy and he turns into a gigantic snake at the most inopportune moments. Maybe the snake has allergies so it rubs its snot all over the walls and the bathroom.

Point is, I don't think public reaction would be so kind to a movie centering around the dirtiness associated with male puberty.

Kind of proves the point. Female puberty is seen as something empowering, or needing empowerment, whereas male puberty is treated as something disgusting.

Yes nocturnal emissions are a part of male puberty and should probably be explained so young boys don't freak out when waking up but again it's mainly a sexual thing unlike periods which are just a puberty thing which is why they're also referred to as wet dreams

                Anonymous

                >Sexual thing unlike periods
Periods are sexual, though. It is literally the indicator that a woman can have children. You’re still proving my point that you feel male puberty is grosser, baser, or somehow less appropriate to portray the female puberty.

                Anonymous

Nocturnal emissions aren't sexual nor are they endemically precluded by dreams of a sexual nature. Again, not arguing. Just facts here. Wet dreams don't happen because of sex thoughts. It's entirely autonomic.

Unless your definition of sexual entails relating to or about the sex organs themselves. Which, to be fair, includes shedding of uterine wall material as well as ovum.

Males, particularly in puberty, do not have control over erections. That’s a common misconception, and a common excuse in cases of underage rape and even adult rape - “he was hard so he liked it.”

Sounds like we need a Disney film about erections.

                Anonymous

Again we're not talking about involuntary erections we're talking about masturbation because that was the word that was used at the start of this stupid conversation

I don't think so, no. Unless you count having to deal with the mess in the morning. It's not particularly disruptive, but it has its own stigmas attached like most bodily functions tend to. Though I'm not making any sort of argument here as I said, just trying to inject some insight into the conversation. I'd share my own opinions but at this point it seems unsolicited and unnecessary since I haven't seen the film and have had no interest in changing that. Just thought it might be prudent to make sure people were aware of how these changes in people's bodies happen, even if that was readily apparent. Didn't want any misconceptions being spread.

As someone said this is the equivalent of talking about a boy's erections in a kids movie. Puberty is a private matter. Just because everyone is going through it at the same time doesn't mean kids talk about it. These people are either sick or out of touch

periods aren't sexual though so this isn't a good comparison
a better comparison would be saying its like the movie is flaunting the need to wear diapers due to being incontinent (which isn't sexual I don't care what gross fetish homosexuals have to say)

Periods are't sexual. but just like erections they are a sign of sexual maturity. puberty isn't spurned on by stimuli at first. it just happens.
I'm not sure where you get this argument about diapers. like i said before everyone poops and urinates. every baby wears a diaper. but unless you're in some shithole 3rd world country when the time comes for the "here is what's going on with your body" talk its usually kept between your kid and you the parent or they seperate the genders. so when you do something like showing a box of tampons and make it into a joke its not cute. its embarrassing enough going through that shit as a kid and its not something you just freely talk about.

Peeing is not sexual. It involves a sexual organ so should be done in private. Likewise menstruation is not sexual, there is literal no sexual thoughts or feelings about it. Is fine for little kids to learn about both and that it is normal. Peeing is not controversial because it happens to men but if only women could pee they would claim is sexualized too

Anon, do you not know the definition of sexual?
I'm not trying to push some weird conservative gotcha to call you a groomer, but by definition if it involves sexual organs then it's sexual.
Personally I don't see anything wrong with it, I think Americans get too hung up on matters of a sexual nature and sexuality in general, which is probably why so many parts of America are so fricked up.
                >Peeing is not controversial because it happens to men but if only women could pee they would claim is sexualized too
That's just another part of those American hangups, where they believe that anything a woman does is sexual, which is why you end up with people b***hing when a female character gets beat up in a cartoon or video game because they think it's going to give boys some kind of weird fetish.

This is a curious point. Hmmm. Just for the sake of argument, why would it be legally tantamount to sexual harassment/indecent exposure if you were to show your butthole, but not your weener or possy. The ass isn't meant for sex, so how could it be a sexual act?

                Anonymous

I don't think it's considered a sexual act, just an indecent one.
I don't think showing your ass to someone is going to be legally the same as sexual assault.
Unless you also rub your ass on them.

Too much emphasis on pissing in a children's movie would be weird (it was weird in rugrats), because it's too much focus on the sexual organs of children. The one difference in pissing and periods/erections though is pissing is something everyone does, while when you go the other route there's some weird obsession with puberty in 8 - 12 year olds. The problem is why the frick are adult creators so obsessed with the sexual organs of children in relation to puberty in specific? Excusing that clear obsession makes you sound like Dan Schnieder who excuses his foot fetish by saying "kids find feet funny." You can't technically argue against his point. All you can say is 'look I was a kid who watched those shows, I knew kids who watched those shows, everyone thought it was weird not funny,' but everyone still knows objectively the man is a creep has a foot fetish. With periods and erections and whatever else in kids media you excuse it by 'well kids find it relatable,' and nobody can argue against that but everyone fricking knows.

done intentionally though, it had animation that surpassed disney so much that it pissed them off. aladdin would not exist today if warner bros had not pussied out. in fact, disney might not exist today because they would have either been sued into the ground for intellectual property theft, or they would have gone bankrupt because none of their movies animated on shitty twos would turn a profit, while the thief and the cobbler would go on to make a trilogy with animation quality that gets better with each movie, video games, toys, and an entire fanbase.

Psychological, philosophical and social constructs are real in context of human societies.
Words describing observed phenomena and categories, or extrapolating to explain not directly observable phenomena have real meaning to humans and that is the only reality that matters if you are a human who does indeed live within a society.

How are tampons at all family friendly? When my little sister was getting her period our mother stressed to us that this was a very difficult time for her and we were not to mention it. A girl at middle school announced she had to go change her tampon and she was sent to the nurse. Not the bathroom. The nurse. And then the office because that was private and she said it in front of everyone. You think they know that ovulation means the girl is ready to be fertilized? So is this promoting straight relationships or is it promoting pedophilia? Either way is cringe.
Also why is she holding the box backwards? Is she showing the class or what?

You know damn well anything created outside their circle of insanity is immediately set upon for assimilation or destruction; damn near every remake, reboot, or reimagining should make that evident. It's not enough to subsume culture, they must destroy history as well.

Even definitively good media has morons hating it for stupid reasons, this should not dissuade you from creating a thing yourself. The problem in media right now is that everyone thinks that their thing needs to be the next household name for it to be worth pursuing, and that if it isnt going through the "official channels" it is somehow not valuable. That a good story is not good if it doesnt go through the right distributor.

This is a bastion of intellectual discussion, which is something Pixar should have had before they made an extremely overt comparison between a giant red panda and bleeding red dicky, which could have been acceptable in a nuanced coming of age story, but, instead, they decided to have the entire school line up to take pictures of it. I don't think they were thinking, but it is Disney/Pixar we are talking about, so it's a very genuine possibility.

it's fine to be concerned for a child's health regarding what they consume, but for something like this, there are things they obviously won't get and really the solution should just be to teach them something important about what they saw instead of shunning it entirely. kids are naive, but they aren't complete idiots that can't learn anything new, and they might not get it then, but they do eventually. instead of worrying about everything a kid could see, try to actually raise one and at least advocate for their knowledge instead of the suppression of any wrongthink. if it is truly your business, you would understand that.

Marxists subversives are not the same as communist citizens.
The point of these people is to destabilize every aspect of an enemy nation as much as possible in order to convince its citizens that it's not worth fighting for, priming it for a communist takeover from within.
These subversives, of course, are the first to get lined up against a wall and shot, since they're quite literally not good for a single thing other than spreading degenerate rot.

I don't think calling something shit on Cinemaphile is the same as cancelling it, anon.
That's like saying that you try to cancel an anime whenever you b***h about one.

The "moronic white person on Cinemaphile" one.

That's what the "cancelling" done by "cancel culture" is, yes

Not really, "cancel culture" doesn't really apply to things, mainly to people.

                That's a bold one.
Let's see if it pays off.

It absolutely does apply to media.

Not really, not in the modern era.
People b***hing on the internet doesn't really get shows cancelled like sending in letters did in the pre-internet era.
At the end of the day it's all just noise and networks will run whatever the execs want them to run.

Why is it so important to be shown? Are we gonna see the mountains of crusty socks, used tissues, mysteriously mangled banana skins so young boys can relate next I guess?
Do women just go, "OMG I HAVE PERIOD TOO" and basedjack out whenever a period is referenced.

The point of the scene is that it's incredibly embarrassing thing for an over-protective mother to do.
There was no agenda being pushed about it being important to talk about it in public or whatever.

    The problem is cartoons.
This board would be so much better off if it were for comics only. Less mental illness at the very least.
It would be a slow, niche board instead of the absolute moronation is now.

      Bro

Most of the anon's on the site are acting too old, aging out their ass by being out of tune with young people of today. Example: teens color their hair, we see this in/with MC's of moves and shows, and for some reason on this site never heard of this?

Disney movies used to show villains dying brutally. Frollo sung about his lust to hatefrick a gypsy. Now people are having panic attacks over some sanitary products. This generation is doomed.

Hate to say it but, that kind of what happens when females don't talk about that kind of that stuff like male puberty, and most guys don't know much about women at all except pussy fricking. Tho its funny women know more about men than we do ourselves, they know we jack-off we want to cream our pants at the sexy chick, and that our voices break etc.

        >Example: teens color their hair, we see this in/with MC's of moves and shows
Teen also don't watch cartoons, they watch anime.
Which is partially WHY they color their hair.
