This was probably their worst review ever

I should start this off by saying I’m not some dipshit prequel fan and actually like RLM’s reviews. Even the comments on the video which are usually really positive are mostly trashing their opinions. Jay just looked uncomfortable the whole time and probably would have been much meaner if they weren’t his friends. It seems like nowadays people have been so mind broken by their favorite franchises being ruined that they’re willing to accept lowest common denominator garbage.

I hate how jay never stands up for his opinions. Someone seriously needs to put mike and rich in their place every once in a while and Jay is too pussy to do it.

This. Jay always cowers away from his opinions because Mike thinks he's pretentious. That's why Rich and Jay are the best combo because they respect each other. Mike needs to get his attitude in check

Jay can go frick himself lol

Get that Mike wiener out ya bussy playa.

        >Mike thinks he's pretentious
True and to be fair he is. He overrates things like The Northman for purely aesthetic reasons and mike is right to reign him in. But when it comes to garbage mike likes to pretend to like it for either contrarian or purely tasteless reasons, and Jay just doesn't have the confidence to say he's fricking moronic.

Young Mike is cute. Fat Mike is weirdly hot because you know he's aggressively dominant in that completely unconscious way where he doesn't even have any weird kinks like spitting in your mouth yet it's still so intuitive to him to be a 5000% pure top and shove you into the mattress while he fricks your butthole. He's just a big chubby bear of a man in the best possible way. Probably has a fat wiener.

Jay is cute but he has confidence issues. He really shouldn't because he is sufficiently cute to own any minor physical quirks that he has. I hope Jay is a reluctant top who cares about his bottom. Basically the polar opposite of Mike.

Rich doesn't even frick. You just cuddle with him. You lay face to face with him, his big warm gut pressing into your stomach, and smilingly stare into each other's eyes, having conversation into the early hours of the morning. He'd probably stroke your hair. Just imagine his gentle voice, that angelic smiling face, and every conversation with him being like a fricking dream of heaven, deep, long, spiritual talks about life and love.

It's hard to pick. Mike has that calm-among-the-storm passion and he'd smash your butthole into a thousand pieces. Jay is an introspective auteur who would take you on a journey with him, as an equal partner. Rich would be like dating the Buddha.

I think it's this blend of starkly different yet equally awesome personalities that makes them work so well together as a group.

        >The fights are better, they are just shot awkwardly
        and choreographed awkwardly.
        and edited awkwardly.
        and act awkwardly.

Yes, that's what makes a fight NOT good.

This show is shockingly bad, and them calling it "very ok" or whatever it was, just goes to show how fricking melted on the crap they constantly consume their brain is.
Or maybe they're just closeted SW fanboys with a grudge against the prequels (which yes, are also shit).

There seems to be a subset of people who think the whole Mustafar fight is a piece of shit because of that one whirly lightsaber moment lasting 2 seconds
these people are mentally ill and obsessed

The problem with what Mike and Rich say in the video is that sure, a fight can last 5 seconds and be good, but the fights in Kenobi last 5 seconds and are still absolutely horrible.
Pull up the webm of Lucio Voreno's wife character killing those storm troopers by awkwardly pulling on their helmets.

By this moronic logic, modern Steven Seagal movies are masterpieces, because they look cheap, and fight last 5 seconds with him not even getting off the chair.

          They're completely delusional.

This is unironically the review that exposed them as absolute hypocritical morons.
Three people with zero artistic merit, attempting to continue their vendetta against the prequels and ignoring any flaws in a shitty TV show simply because they are so consumed by their distaste for George's vision. They find pleasure in Obi-wan Kenobi because it is nearly as bad as the very features they have attempted to make. They will never be film makers. They will never have valid criticism of art.
They are posers, particularly Rich, larping around in comic book tees, feigning knowledge of topics he knows nothing about and has less information to provide to the group than a poorly edited wikipedia page. It's not wonder he is the living embodiment of their mascot Plinkett.

They have been proven shills for years now. They had nothing good to say about the new dr strange and still recommended it. They did nothing but shit on the new matrix movie, but then mike fellated the first movie for thirty minutes before they both recommended the new one. Every big release gets a glowing recommendation after a tepid, restrained roasting. Meanwhile, they relegate a fairly small release like northman to a footnote in a half in the bag catch up and half recommend it after calling it a boring braveheart. It is very obvious who is and is not lining their pockets.

I think the recent reappraisal the prequel trilogy got has had a weird effect on them. They haven’t really addressed it, like Mike hasn’t come out in defense of his (garbage) plinkett reviews. I think they probably want to to just leave it alone and act like it’s beneath them to even consider, but then they also make a blatantly dishonest review like this and spend half the time sniping at the prequels. I just don’t trust them much anymore and especially not when it comes to Star Wars

they will always be right in their prequal bash when it involves really REALLY dumb film-making problems. the biggest one that still always gets me is when mace windu literally just looks blanked the frick out looking literally nowhere when he cuts off jangos head. it's legitimately terrible. a lot of the shit though is the vision they shit on and i remember watching their critics and agreeing with everything, but after watching them again recently, the vision george had is very obvious and i legit think it was way ahead of it's time and wasn't borderline genius or anything but it's just below that area. a lo of the character problems they had were all diliberate by george. all of it, and it's very obvious when rewatching. of course i do remember them also saying they don't care about that and would in a mocking way talk like a fan going "oh well george meant it that way!" and then laughing, so they don't care if they are wrong at all. sad.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't criticise Disney for conning fans. This show is the most cynical cashgrab imaginable, with bad effects and low production values. They give Sandler a lot of shit for scamming people, but it's Ok for Disney+ show to look bad because its "funny"???? The fricking megacorp that owns both Marvel and Star Wars

He's an executive producer, fair, but he's hardly writing every episode. The scripts are a whole lot tighter than STD and Shittard (and most modern genre television tbh) and it isn't just from the lack of serialization. Definitely better than Obi Wan so far and worth a watch.

If you don't like it you don't like it, fair enough. Personally I think it's on par with a lot of average quality episodes of older Trek so far, and considering almost every Trek series has taken two seasons to get (consistently) good I'd say that means they're off to a better start than most. We're 7 episodes into a 10 episode season and haven't dipped into STD territory or had anything as cringey as The Naked Now or Move Along Home yet, which is a record for a Star Trek series.

Sure. I just don't think it's worth my time, let alone money. I think I just hate Paramount just as much I hate Sony. Both own or have owned great IPs and just do the absolute worst possible choices with them and turn the whole thing into garbage.

you waifuposting doesnt support the argument of it being good, just so you know. it's okay to have something cute to look at, but it makes you seem biased. but yes, its better than most yidney wars and almost all the nutrek (besides prodigy, i have a softspot for that one)

I know it looks like waifuposting, but La'an and Pike (maybe T'Pring) are pretty much the only characters to harvest meme templates and reaction images from so far in the show. Is Prodigy genuinely fun to watch as an adult? My friend's kid likes it so I just assumed it was good enough for the target demographic.

Sure. I just don't think it's worth my time, let alone money. I think I just hate Paramount just as much I hate Sony. Both own or have owned great IPs and just do the absolute worst possible choices with them and turn the whole thing into garbage.

Paramount is just a company ran by old people (badly) trying to keep up with the times by rebooting old properties for """modern audiences""". They'll turn a different direction (not necessarily a good one, but different) either when the market demands it or the big wigs all retire and get replaced. It's why I watch SNW on Paramount+ and hatewatch STD with torrents. Sony is a whole different kind of shitshow and deserves everybody's vitriol, though.

They did a bad job not making this show look boring and skippable.
Also why did that Vader vs. Obi-wan fight look like such a massacre? Obi-wan just kicked Anakin's ass 10 years ago, and the injuries and horrible cybernetics Vader has seem like they would be a much bigger detriment than just 10 years of old age. You'd think it would be more even than that.

Vader seethes and is still a formidable foe. In the canon comics he's quite capable of kicking anyone's ass. It's not a stretch that he could beat a decade put of practice OB1

            Anonymous

I don't get why an out of practice, horribly injured Anakin literally covered in torture gear Sheev gave him to troll him totally stomps an out of practice, slightly aged Obi-wan when Obi-wan won when they were both on even ground.
Telling me it's a problem in the comics too doesn't help, it just seems like people letting rose tinted glasses influence their perception of Vader.

              Anonymous

His suit might be a torture machine, but Palpatine gave him extended prosthetic legs so he always has the high ground.

Vader isn't out of practice in current canon he's constantly doing shit like fight Jedi who survived and walking through lava fighting giant monsters. Plus Disney canon changed it so his suit isn't quite the pile of misery it used to be. Palpatine even offered him upgrades.

Vader is canonically more powerful after his transformation than before it, he just never reaches his full potential due to the injuries.
And Obi Wan never kicked his ass to begin with. He was playing the defensive game and struck when Anakin became overconfident.
There's literally a flashback scene in one of the episodes that addresses their sparring dynamic.

It kind of bugged me when Rich made the prediction that Maul will come back with robot legs, because we know this was what he did even before Disney took over. This happened in the comic "Old Wounds", and then they showed it canonically in Clone Wars. Maul was even in Rebels. obi-wan went from being a wizened zen master to being some dashing jack sparrow tier rogue character in the prequels, and a lot of that came down to ewan's performance and then got picked up and turned into canon by morons like filoni
i'm not even saying his character is worse, it's better, but if we're following canon then it just doesn't make sense at all
oddly enough you can tell that in phantom menace he does try to be younger alec, but already in attack of the clones he goes full moron

Jar Jar is the really the only weakness of the movie and only in the sense of excessive misfirings of comedy
Like keep half of his battle scenes, cut half his lines elsewhere, and the movie would be objectively flawless and then it would come down to how much someone subjectively likes elements X, Y, Z like the politics and the lightsaber fight
Actually I suppose the other big weakness is Anakin destroying the whole invasion fleet by himself. That part sucked major ass

Yes, that's what makes a fight NOT good.

This show is shockingly bad, and them calling it "very ok" or whatever it was, just goes to show how fricking melted on the crap they constantly consume their brain is.

        Anonymous

It's undeniable that the Plinkett reviews had a big sway on how the internet felt about the prequel movies. But it's pretty unlikely that they played an super significant factor in any of the decisions about the post-Disney-acquisition stuff, especially when it came to individual lines like that. The Disney executives were probably working a few levels higher than what "some YouTube video" said about the franchise.

More than likely they simply made the same observation that Mike did: "JJ Abrams just did crowd-pleasing work with the Star Trek movies, he's probably a good candidate for the Star Wars movies." He was simply an obviously choice at the time.

    >This was probably their worst review ever

It was just way longer than it needed to be. Their basic take that its harmless and a little stupid and that its cheapness is oddly charming is fine. The meta commentary that the shit show of Picard has lowered their standards was fine. But they made all those points about 5 times over. Its an hour long video with 30 minutes of material.

most of stuff listed by RLM are meaningless petty grievances that don't take into account what lucas wanted to do at all

I've given up trusting their opinions anymore, with the exception of Jay. I purely watch for their interactions, industry/filming insights, and jokes about bad movies. I could forgive Mike for Jurassic World, but not Midnight Mass. Kenobi is just the final nail.
How does it feel to live long enough to see my favorite Youtubers go down in flames?
    It feel bad.

Why can't Obi-Wan be Vader level good at fighting?

he literally beat him both in show (ep5 training) and in the prequels. Not to mention that he was a fricking general in the clone army, and single handedly won against a shit ton of opponents such as general grievous.

Why is Obi-wan so cucked in this show as if he has never touched a lightsaber before? And if Vader can fight the black lady just by using the force, why can't Obi-Wan?

I think the prequels are better than both the original trilogy as well as the sequels
