    Honoestly. this,
I thought it would be on par with stuff like Oldboy or MoM, but no - it's a fricking batshit k-drama with a moronic premise.

Yeah I was really disappointed. I was expecting something really gritty and raw but it was a bit of a farce.

this movie is a legitimate SHLOCK and i can't believe it's mentioned as being on the same level with films like Memories of Murder. The opening scene is effective i guess, but i gets legit laugh-out-loud funny once they get into a serial killer camp where they have a human farm

He couldn't feel physical pain or something like that.

Except we see him scream and whince in pain a bunch through the movie.

Physical torture doesn’t work on socio/psychopaths. Uncertainty is the only thing that bothers us.

Pain is just a sensation. The body’s reactions to it are autonomous/involuntary. It may make you feel good to hear screaming (psycho) but all pain fades and once gating kicks in, the mind isn’t involved anymore.

    yeah
it pissed me when he let the serial killer go and then the serial killer ended up raping and killing his niece(or whoever it was). After that i just wanted the protagonist to die for being moronic

The guy whose balls and penis he smashed with a pipe wrench had it worse than the killer. the killer had a humane death(beheaded) at the end

It was only by convenience of writing that the guy whose balls he hammered also happened to have killed a few girls.

If he turned out to have done nothing except be kind of a sex pest so he’s on the local list, he hammered his balls for nothing

We don’t even see whether the guy who he ran over with his car did anything.

he didn't kill anyone if i remember correctly. he was just a coomer

the coomer got his dick and balls smashed and the serial killer got a humane death via guillotine

          >he didn't kill anyone if i remember correctly. he was just a coomer

No I watched it recently. The very next scene is him turning himself into the police for the unsolved murders of two girls. Unrelated to the ones involving the main killer.

I’m pretty sure he could legally get off just by saying he confessed under duress given his hammered balls though.

            >also making the family suffer for the sake of the serial killer makes the protagonist a psychopath

This was the movies incredibly hamfisted point. In trying to exact a revenge that would truly fit the crime. He became just as bad as the killer.

It’s just that usually in these stories, they take this as “you can’t kill the mass murderer! That makes you just as bad as them!”

From the start he was methodically torturing him. But it became clear it would never really satisfy him, or get him to repent. He manages to one up the main character and frick up his family even more.

So he ultimately does become the “devil”. By inflicting the pain not on the person himself, but those he cares about

After all we only see his wife a minute or two before she’s murdered. It’s her family left behind we see suffer so much. And that’s when her death was truly brutal too

All the advertisements showing the mirror symbolism or split in their face between the killer and main character aren’t a coincidence. The killer is the devil. In truly defeating him he had to become him too.

It’s unsatisfying. But ultimately just putting him in prison for life to rot as soon as he found his identity would have saved everyone pain.

Did he show any sign whatsoever of caring about his family in the movie? They seemed to think he sucked and he didn’t even talk to them

do koreans think getting killed in front of your family is a barbaric death or something?

I think it was meant to be some kind of

      >I can’t physically hurt you the way you hurt me
      >so I will force your family to kill you, you will also live knowing they go through this pain and also they will find all the stuff showing you’re a serial killer

That being said, at no point in the movie do I recall him ever seeming to give a frick about his son or parents. So not sure why he would care about this anyway

    This movie was unintentionally hilarious.

So there’s a serial killer, who the main character easily finds in less than a week when the police have no hope of finding him. So he fricks him up, plants a tracker in him and lets him go.

This serial killer just so happens to run into two other murderers who are also serial killers and try to kill hitchhikers including him.

Then finally he meets his serial killer buddy who had a whole cannibal survivalist compound

What kind of Korea is this?
