I seem to remember that Janice was gloating in that scene. Like bragging about how fricking great she had become at anger management.
Combined with how much of a b***h she had always been, I think it was fine for Tony to try to activate her almonds.

She wasn't, she was just doing her best to adhere to what she was learning and it was having a positive impact on herself and her family. Janice is a c**t but Tony is just cruel there simply because he can't stand her being happy.

You two are hopeless morons, if you hadn’t learned what she was at this point in the show, you are moronic beyond compare.

Janice wasn't capable of change, frick her.

No she deserved worse. This Roastie thinks she deserves a 2nd chance with a 2nd family? A relationship she completely manipulated herself into. Just like she thinks she immediately is off the hook for embarrassing her family on the news over a kids soccer game.

          All women do that.
          >Just like she thinks she immediately is off the hook for embarrassing her family on the news over a kids soccer game.
She was specifically working on herself due to that. I don't think there's any indication she expected to be off the hook immediately.

I cannot believe anyone would watch this show and feel sorry for Janice. I'm going to assume these are ironic posts. Tony is a piece of shit but Janice is also very much a toxic person and deserves massive criticism. At least tony never abandoned a child.

Janice was faking another new persona at this point because shes crazy and nothing is genuine with her. She flips through personalities in life and during the show- hippy, caregiver, mob wife, etc. None of them are genuine though. Its all a performance to try and fool others/herself. Tony knows this and was sick of her latest uppityness knowing its another act, which is why he started teasing her to get her to "break character" in that scene. Janice was acting like she's not a piece of shit, and Tony reminded her that she is.

I think it's more about Tony considering we see him go out of his way to spoil people's happiness numerous times throughout the series. He is genuinely a toxic person.

She was barely tolerable for Baccala and the kids and Tony had to ruin it.

She is in many ways quite worse than Tony, considering the whole Karen’s ghost thing. But in that moment Tony was clearly in the wrong.

This. Did the other anons here not watch the show? Janice wasn't genuinely changing for the better, just adopting a new holier than thou persona. Rewatch season 2 and carefully watch the Janice scenes. As soon as she's after Ritchie she completely drops the hippy shit when she came into the show and is acting like a mob wife. The show even points to this by having characters call her Pavarti and then she says it's Janice. When she comes back again she's morphed into a born again Christian persona.

          Anonymous

Yeah but that goes to show she never really changed for the better she just flips to another personality.

Best proof of this is her last appearance where she's obviously going to care for her daughter. Knows that the step son wants to live elsewhere but refuses to let the step daughter go because her daughter needs a sister. She's an emotional shapeshifter she just says whatever to get by.

Janice had a new personality that was all "I'm a therapy success story" and Tony 1. Knew she was full of shit and he could easily prove it and 2. Felt slighted that she could suggest she's a 1 week therapy miracle whereas his therapy progression has been backwards and forwards. Getting her to break validated both of these thoughts.

    >Comes outta nowhere to snatch her mother's fortune and becomes a nuisance at best to Tony in the process
    >Drills into Richie's mind the idea of having Tony clipped and him becoming boss
    >Kills Richie regardless, so Tony has to clean up that mess
    >Abandons her child lol
    Tony:
    >Mocks Janice for this last life decision when she declared that she's a changed woman and she just instantly snapped
Yeah Ton is in the wrong here

      Anonymous

this. its a surface level interpretation that Tony goaded Janice into snapping to make himself feel better

I don't doubt he was, but Tony has regularly told everyone around him how much Janice is a fricking snake who changes her character a dozen times to fit whatever role she's portraying, and she's clearly shown to live up to that example time and time again

Janice is a complicated character like Tony. I think Aida Turturro said she always saw her as a survivor doing what was necessary to get by. I think in spite of everything she did actually care about Bobby to an extent and really did want a normal family life, in spite of all the manipulation she used to get there.

              Anonymous

that is correct, but from what we've seen of her past interactions and how she presents herself, there's nothing to indicate this coming to Jesus moment was anymore genuine than the ones before other than this time she had good advice to fake.

                Anonymous

I dunno, I think there's a true moment of epiphany in the anger management scene. Tony just didn't give her a chance which is somewhat understandable for the reasons you mentioned, but it's also shown throughout ther series that Tony seems to resent people doing better than him emotionally.

Reminder that Tony was an incredibly shitty boss.
    >lets his emotions and sentimentality cloud him to the fact that one of his closest associates is wired for sound for over a year
    >nearly gets the family into a small war over percentages on a HUD scam with carmine sr, doing thug shit like vandalizing his bar
    >makes carmine jr a player by going down to FL, legitimizing him and bringing him into NJ/NY mafia politics and setting the stage for the NY civil war
    >kills perhaps the best earner the family ever had, to the point that he was considered non-expendable by carmine sr and had none of the "baggage" that came with vito, over a horse
    >REWARDS tony b with a casino and promise of being made after the unsanctioned killing of a NY guy, which led to financial problems for the family and nearly brought the family to war by refusing to hand him over
    >gambles away hundreds of thousands, alienating a half century position with hesh and destroying the personal friendship he had with him
    >sells out caputo's chicken, a source of income for his underlings like patsy and a legit business for himself, from under the family in hopes of getting laid (and doesn't)
    >fails to stop the sale of barone sanitation even after coming out of the coma, losing his main source of legitimate income and a main source of legitimate income for other members of the family
    >beats and alienates a state assemblyman who had done the family countless favors because the guy dared to start dating one of his old goomahs
    >coddled and pushed a heroin addict through the ranks rapidly above senior members like patsy, causing even silvio to question his judgment
    >refused to compromise on a small asbestos issue, then nearly kills another made man and threatens to kill the underboss of a NY family in the same moment
    >hears that NY has a target on his back and fails to warn anyone until well after the wheels are set in motion, resulting in the death of his underboss and probable death of his consigliere
