The Pacific was memoryholed because at the time, most people felt bad about the War in Iraq & Afghanistan, Abu Ghraib etc. and seeing a bunch of deadeyed Marines call the enemy soldiers racial slurs before burning them alive with flamethrowers and pulling out their fillings hit too close to home and undid the "Christmas movie morals" of BoB
Also it should have been based on one single narrative which is why BoB felt more coherent. They just took 3 random autobiographies and tried to mash them into a single series when like 1/3 of the story is some wop selling war bonds or Leckie trying to get Australian pussy

I skipped out on the pacific because the split between domestic and war-front was fresh off The Unit being on TV around that time and having it split between tacticool operator shit and dependapotamus drama. I am sure there's a valid reason for that in storytelling, but it's not something I want to deal with. It always reeks of them trying to corral women viewers and men viewers at once.

most Europeans don't know basic information concerning the Pacific Theater, so I can't imagine it gets much better anywhere outside of the major Allied nations that had significant action in the theater.

Pacific suffered from the lack of narration, characters didn't feel as fleshed out and I couldn't find myself giving a frick about any of them. That and they skipped the boot camp, so when you finally get to the war you don't have the sense of camaraderie pre established once the fighting starts.

BoB and The Pacific are not really comparable imo, they might share settings, but their thematics are vastly different. One show is about camaraderie and heroism, the other is about the brutality of war and how it impacts the men who fought it.
I understand why people prefer BoB since it's more relatable, but objectively they are both equally good, my only qualm with The Pacific is them not including a Tarawa episode like they did with Iwo Jima.
As for Masters of the Air, I like what I'm reading in the reviews, it would always be difficult to make a show about a bomb group be as engaging as a show about grunts, but it seems they mostly pulled it off, apart from the black airmen which even the woke critics think it felt shoehorned in. I bet it was never planned from the beginning, but Apple forced them to include black soldiers, so they pulled a Tuskegee Airmen plot out of their asses to fill a racial quota despite them never having had missions with the 8th irl.
