I liked seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 is shit because there's no Doctor Psycho and it's all focused on HarlIvy, which has zero chemistry in this adaptation.

I feel they are going to fill in his position soon with some shenanigans causing them to enlist another random villain. Gonna miss his shit talk as well but theres no way he ain't coming back as a villain.

I like it and I disagree with the no chemistry thing anon but hey, your opinion is your opinion. I would also like a Batfamily show.
      Frick Damian tho

They had better chemistry as friends and after the whole wedding thing it feels a bit forced as if they aren't even trying to be friends anymore if that makes sense. I am not a kitecel but he was the better person with ivy. Whats wrong with damien? you think they are going to get jason soon?

Yeeeeaaah, I kinda felt that as well. They were fine as best friends who hung out still despite being leagues apart in regards to how succesful they were. Putting them together felt like a studio decision because they knew it would bump views. It derailed the second half of season 2, and felt very bland come season 3.

Honestly, it seems couple can only be done 2 ways in television series:
1.Will they/wont they all through out
2.Together from the start as an already set dynamic.

Having a couple get together mid series doesnt seem complicated, but I keep seeing it screwed up. Either they act to safe and lovedovey, or the immediately toss in fake drama.

He got sent to Arkham after he betrayed the crew and tried to take over the world with Darkseid. He's coming back this season. Not sure for how many episodes though

If they stop telling instead of showing eachother and us that they're the best couple and best things that have ever happened in their lives, then I'd be happy with it. It's like they forgot how they interact or something.

Harley and Ivy are the worst part of the show
It had a great ensemble and fantastic VA's but when it tried to do anything but have the side cast deliver jokes it failed miserably.
It had zero consistency with its characters and often came across as pretty mean-spirited
It fell into the same trap that most Harley content falls into: it can't decide if Harley is an amoral force of chaos or a female empowerment antihero archetype and those two are mutually exclusuve

      >It fell into the same trap that most Harley content falls into: it can't decide if Harley is an amoral force of chaos or a female empowerment antihero archetype
this is my main issue, I felt like season 3 was leaning into making Harley less of a villain but then it starts out making her feel like she's regressed to season 1 Harley. It gets grating. But the problem isnt Harley's character, its that this is happening in service of her desperately trying to impress Ivy, who isnt interesting

Another anon said it best, it's DC branded Venture Bros. Lite with a lesbian twist.

      >it can't decide if Harley is an amoral force of chaos or a female empowerment antihero archetype and those two are mutually exclusuve
I agree. You know they could make it like an El Tigre situation where Harley herself can't decide if she wants to be a villain or hero/antihero because she feels both calling to her. But that would have to be in-character conflict instead of like you said the show itself.

Nah, that was the main theme with his character. He had a superhero father, and a supervillain grandfather, superhero great-grandfather, and so on. But he got his powers and cannot decide if he wants to be a hero or villain.

Watching the new season and it's honestly just sad that so far the character Ivy has had the most chemistry with is Kiteman's new girlfriend with which she shared one (1) scene. Harley and Ivy absolutely don't work together and I don't see how the show intends to fix that while also dragging along a plot.
As per usual Sy Borgman steals the show again.

I think it's a good show but it doesn't always stick the landing, I like the secondary characters much more and they hardly have arcs in that show they are just there to "support" the main couple so they don't do much. I really like Gordon and he's the one with perhaps a little more agency even though he's used a lot for the butt jokes. Kite Man is a character that I like very much but he is a character to see him completely miserable or completely happy, there is no desire for his development or transition and I call BS when the show says Ivy left Kite Man that's not what happened

To be fair, it's hard to write female characters. Even actual female writers struggle with female characters.

The best female characters are the ones written as male or neutral.
All characters in Alien were written as neutral as possible and then they threw a coin on everyone. That shit fricking worked.

Season 1 and 2 are good. Season 3 is ok so far but harlivy tanks the quality hard.

Honestly, it felt like DC's version of pic related. It really fell apart when they made the "good guys" also dicks. If they were going with Venture Bros style, the heroes would have their own in-Universe reason for what they are doing like they recognized the superhero world doesn't make sense but they learn to live with it. Like the real reason why Batman doesn't kill the Joker because he knows that he is just going to come back or it would result in something moronic like BatKEKs. Superman secretly knows that his powers are bullshit. Martian Manhunter just wants fricking friends.

I watched the first three episodes of season three with my GF. The Harley and Ivy dynamic is interesting; I don't get the impression that the show is trying to force an agenda there. Ivy is clearly not as into it as Harley.

Before I begin I just want to say that I like Harley Quinn the character, am fine with the redemption she's gotten after the Humphries run, and think most adaptations (including this) frick her up to the point of being a different character entirely. Now that said, I fricking HATE this show. The fact that they're using DC characters is irrelevant, it's simple a vehicle for reject adult cartoon writers who couldn't get on a real show to push out this crap. Jokes are low hanging fruit, they can't remain consistent with what they write, and perhaps the most aggravating thing is how they ultimately piss away comedy gold EVERY TIME given the material they're working with. For frick sake, a Legion of Doom office comedy would have killed had anyone on this fricking project bothered to put in actual effort or put in the time/homework to pull it off. This is the most casual friendly phoned in animated show I've seen in recent memory to the point of insulting. Moreover, it's outright wasteful. They don't shy away from gore, sure, but after killing off Penguin, Mister Freeze, and Two-Face they never stopped to think "Oh shit, we really didn't do anything with them did we?". Not only that, but the pandering they do doesn't even make sense on the show. That "glass ceiling" female villain nonsense? Why the frick is that a thing when we clearly see female LoD members like Killer Frost, Livewire, Giganta, and Cheetah everywhere? That Catwoman "You only gave me this award because I'm black!" rant? YOU COULD HAVE DONE THAT WITH BLACK MANTA, AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FUNNY.

I could go on and on. Perhaps the only somewhat redeeming character is Kite-Man, and that's only because he's a likable go-getter we want to see get ahead despite being a buffoon. No wonder they considered giving him a spin-off (which I think is dead thanks to Discovery?).

Well a FUNNY way to write it would be to present him like Big Shot from The Tick cartoon; a guy with clear issues on the verge of crying all the time. But instead we'll probably get a poser edgy guy always monologuing about his past and having a boner for murder like its a compulsion.....so I guess Overkill from that Amazon Tick show...huh

    >Harley quinn and Ivy have no chemistry once they get together
This happens in nearly every tv romance for some reason. I don't know why but TV writers always seem to mentally shit themselves whenever their star couple becomes official and forget everything that gave the couple chemistry in the first place.
    >"Oh there a couple now. Looks like the only thing we can do with these characters now is make them kiss each other or make them fight. No more funny banter or playing foils to each other."
This is especially common with gay couples. I think the writers just become too focused on pandering. I was especially disappointed when they did this in The Owl House since I used to love the Luz/Amity dynamic.

It can occasionally be funny. But the amount of "We had a joke to tell, but it had absolutley nothing to do with the scene, but we forced it in anyways" seems to me like there is a writer for the story, and then a separate team for the jokes, and one editor who merges the two together haphazardly.

Also, Harley is clearly the worst part of her own show. Absolutely nothing about her makes me like her, even in a bad way.

I'm glad Kite Man traded up, tho.
