It was made in China so I didn't expect this to be good.

its only good if you're actually interested in the period and can stomach listening to old chinks talk to one another
also
>BAOOOOOOOOO
I wasn't interested in the period until I watched it. I did only give it a chance because of the Total War game, though.
>not liking BAOOOO
>CHUGUUUUUN
Pleb.
They never are. Visuals are decent sometimes. If you are watching Chinese movies for an intriguing and mentally engaging story, then you have already lost.
Lost what moron? It's not a game.
The game of life, and aptitude.
Neither of those are games.
Oh, but they are, anon.
> Stories with centuries, even millenia of background are more boring than Marvel.
This is what you sound like.
>good
It's a so bad it's good type
isn't pre-mao history illegal in china?
the action is cheap 80's tier kung fu. but cao cao's actor blows the show out of the water. its also nice how each fraction gets painted in a different way i.e wei is pragmatic, shu's divine right to rule and sun 'muh heritage' its subtle.
recently there's been a revival of 'classic' history larping, i imagine the period directly before mao's cultural (and literal)genocide is still taboo. three kingdoms is ~200ad so thats a safe distance in time
dont be moronic, chinks love prattling on endlessly about this shit, its only 20th century shit that is bad
I think a lot of people get filtered by the completely terrible audio dubbing in the first episode, like they really couldn't have just reshot the scenes? The production in the first episode is jarringly terrible. The same thing happens a lot through the run but its particularly bad there.
The fight scene with Lu Bu against Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Liu Bei is peak schlockino tho
What's with chinks vomiting blood?
easier to just have some guy spit out some juice than actually do some real makeup for an injury.
emotional damage
>it wasn’t made in China
That’s why it’s good
aslong as you dont expect game of thrones or whatever then its pretty decent. its like watching a chinese play or something
>play
Anon, it's just a cheesy soap opera but historical setting.
remember kids, this is the good guy.
He was right.
Adou should have died
having to deal with like 3 episodes straight of shitty drama with the whole Lu Bu/Dong Zhuo plot was pretty bad
Yeah, it's pure kino. I've watched it like 2-3 times and read multiple translations of the book too. I'm not even a asiatic, either. The main reason it was so good was because the castings were UNREAL. 9/10 characters were beyond perfectly casted. Even if they weren't, Cao Cao carried the show until he died and then Sima Yi picked up the torch.
The greatest part will always be the part where Cao Cao doesn't want to kill Chen Gong.
what the frick was that spin? that was horrible
A real thing. It was a suicide technique taught to concubines. You used the angular momentum and the weight of your body to have a nice day. It ensured you were actually dead quickly no matter how weak you were, as in most cases, the repercussions of surviving were often worse. In the case of that show, it was all a bit dramatic, but that is what it is: a Chinese drama.
i see what you mean but that would mean the knife slices around her neck as the knife hand doesnt move much while her body rotates which isnt what happened there, she just spins
also source for that info?
>living is worse than death
lol
>life as a sex slave given to the entire army
women were often told to kill themselves as a last resort.
Fricking idiot
Chinese dramas are pretty decent if you can handle the production value, hammy theatre style and schlocky cut-filled battle scenes. Three Kingdoms was great because the history itself is awesome and it was extremely well cast in general IMO, not just Chen Jianbin as Cao Cao who was deservedly praised for his portrayal. The one thing I didn't like about 2010 was how long it dwelled on the Lu Bu/Diaochan shit which was okay in small doses but they dragged out forever. I guess it was to get the woman audience.
Anyone seen All Men Are Brothers (2011)? Really liked the book, probably just as much as ROTK although they are quite differently stylistically. I known Zhang Fei from 2010's 3K is Li Kui, which is perfect casting, and some of the other cast seem like good choices but I've heard mixed things about it. If its not great I might just go with the 90s version, which is hard to find in good quality but I know has the the greatest theme song ever in Liu Huan's Hao Han Ge.
When does it get good? I'm Three episodes in.
From episode 1.
