THUNDERBOLTS synopsis

>Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) are sent by Valentina de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) to kill the Sentry (Lewis Pullman), a schizophrenic superhuman kept in a vault by the paramilitary organization O.X.E. The group soon realizes that Val sent them there to die, and join forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Red Guardian (David Harbour) to get revenge on her and stop the Sentry from destroying the world.

I feel like this fumbled having a great cast of villains and antiheroes everyone expect for ghost is just a special agent vaguely related to Captain America. Would have been cool to see Abomination, Bullseye or any of the Iron Man stand in’s. Still it’s cool to see US Agent I guess

I really want to see The Void if they bother to do any of that shit with Sentry. I thought Sentry was an interesting comic when it came out. Then I found out everyone hated him which was too bad.

I read the original Sentry comic and thought it was stupid that he was actually a silver age Marvel character who was forgotten because of The Void, it feels like Alan Moore subversive writing for DC and I just didn't care for the meta aspect of it

I don't know I feel like that type of thing belongs in DC where it's more fantasy and its canon goes in and out as opposed to Marvel which is more grounded and its canon is the same since the 60s

        >thought it was stupid that he was actually a silver age Marvel character who was forgotten because of The Void
That's part of what I thought was neato. I'm a pretty large novice when it comes to actual comic book reading and I didn't even really get into it until that era so that probably helped. The people who got me into reading comics were into it WAAAAAAAAAAAY before I ever was and they all thought Sentry was gay as frick so perhaps that factored into everyone's thoughts to an extent. I don't disagree with anyone who disliked The Sentry for the reasons you wrote but man I was all on board when I read it.

DC had actually done that same idea a few years before Marvel did, with a character called Triumph who was a founding member of the Justice League but nobody remembered him. He was very unpopular though and eventually just got killed off and forgotten. The continuity has been rebooted a few times since then so his founder status is gone too.

I like the idea of Sentry. Because I think Marvel always needed an Evil Superman.
But the Void shit is a little too much.

Only watching if it has Kate and Yelena lezz out. If she's not even in it, then it's DOA, she was more well liked than any of these literally who's except Bucky.

Why even have a shared universe and have a shippy dynamic between them and then not include her?

Suicide Squad, but marvel. Inb samegay already said this.

The worst part is that the Thunderbolts aren't even supposed to just be "Suicide Squad but Marvel".
The concept behind the original Thunderbolts in the comics was that they were a group of villains, led by Baron Zemo, masquerading as a fake superhero team so they could do villain shit in plain sight, until it goes breasts up because some of them actually start to like being heroes. That's a unique, compelling story and it would have worked PERFECTLY in a post-Endgame world where the Avengers are basically done. If they'd sold the first film as a new straightforward superhero team and then went with the twist, even if news sites spoiled the Thunderbolts being villains, you'd still have caught a lot of normies by complete surprise and the general audience would have gone absolutely nuts for it.
But modern Marvel just saw "anti-hero team," looked at the inexplicable success of the first Suicide Squad film, and so now they've slapped together this boring MCU version where all but one of the team have the exact same skillset and powers coated in their drab pseudo-military, pseudo-gritty aesthetic. Oh, and they're shoving the Sentry into it too, for some reason. It's so dull. This isn't going to help revive the MCU at all.

The difference being: they aren't going to kill anybody off. I mean they could. If characters like Ghost and Taskmaster simply disappeared, nobody would care. Red Guardian? Who gives AF.

Valentina, basically the Nick Fury to the Thunderbolts' Avengers.
      Ghost, antagonist of Ant-Man 2
Red Guardian, Russian Captain America and Vlack Widow's father figure
New Black Widow, Natasha's sister figure
Taskmaster, secondary antagonist from Black Widow and utterly forgettable

Black Widow was a very bad movie and they're borrowing too much from it. As others have said it should be closer to Dark Avengers with US Agent, Bucky, Abomination, Bullseye, and an Iron Man stand-in.

The five day old blood constipation that has been stewing somewhere between the dark recesses of my lower abdomen and my outer colon is better crafted piece of shit than whatever the frick this is that Marvel Studios has decided to bring out.

How do you frick up concept of as simple Thunderbolts ? Especially when you have already well written in movie explanation for their existence ? Set it during the blip. Have it be explained to audience in the first act that these new set of heroes are previously seen villains in disguise who are using their disguise as part of attempt to take over the world. Second and third act of movie is everybody returning from blip, figuring out what is going on, and having fighting them to stop them from succeeding their plans.

Disney has seriously got to start realising that if you want people to go to movies again and see this stuff you got to of at least give them something watchable. The whole thing is fricking shit.
