People involved with selling these products and working on them will always say it's great and the best ever, that's like saying that a commercial said that a product is good as a good review. Only later sometimes long after the fact some people can admit that they always knew something sucked.

If she's 13 or 14 in TT, Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain is probably a prequel to TT. None of the other TT characters appear in it either.

Pretty sure that's not her first appearance. From what I can remember, she didn't wear any clothes except for a cheerleader outfit, swimsuit, party clothes, a Zatanna costume, and that green dress.

I'm probably missing some, but those are the ones that I clearly remember. 9 times out 10 she wore no clothes.

The only obvious red flags are:

    1. Not bringing back as many of the original WRITERS as they could. Recasting makes sense, some of the original VA cast have passed away. Eventually that needs to happen. Not consulting with Tom Ruegger is a red flag though.

    2. Sweetie as a main character. Literally nobody liked Sweetie. She's probably only a main so they can have Tweety Bird in it as her mentor.

    3. Wish Elmyra was really gone and hope she'll either just have cameos or be redone to not suck so badly. As a college student her old personality would be really annoying and WTF, she even is dressed like a 7 year old in this promo art.

    4. If Buster and Babs are actually twin brother and sister that'll be weird as frick.

Everything else it could be good, could be bad. No way of knowing. I think Fifi and Shirley's new looks are cute and the rest look in line with always (except for Sweetie who sucks anyway).

That's understandable, Numaniacs uses Spumco people who hated Animaniacs's style and made it more like the one they like which of course Ruegger would dislike.

Yeah, Sweetie is just a bad move.
When I first saw the concept art of her as a punk, I though "Cool, they realized people hated her and decided to make her a villain, that's a great idea".

but now I see they're trying to force her as a primary character.
Like, why? Sweetie's shorts in loony toons worked because Sylvester was a jerk, and tweety didn't start the fights (Usually), so his sociopathism was acceptable. But Sweetie plays off FURBALL, the nicest guy in the show next to hampton. You can't enjoy seeing her hurt him at all.

I feel like they're probably going to spotlight the original Looney Tunes a lot more here, they were in the original a fair bit but not usually a big focus. For branding reasons I expect a lot more with them here.

Wile E. Coyote having more of a "mad scientist" theme fits with Calamity and might mean he'll be in it (even though he's on that art I know there was some doubt). Calamity Coyote being a mad scientist was a thing more than for Wile E. who bought what he used, a little proto-Pinky and the Brain vibes.

Why haven't the cast appeared to age at all? Original series they were like 12-13 years old. They are college students now. So they are like 18-20. They are basically adults, so why aren't they at least a bit taller?
Imo they should only be slightly shorter than characters like Bugs and Daffy.

        Anonymous

The simple answer might be they keep calling it college but it's still some sort of weird high school hybrid and they are still 14.
Might also just want to be "faithful" to the original or something where they are tiny. Also seems to be some variations between images used so who knows

They aged in the OG series as they progressed through school, too.

Babs has one tooth in front, not two.

Feet look different between the two of them
Insides of their ears should be lighter shade of pink.

If they wanted a good Tiny Toons show they should have hired the showrunners behind Mao Mao, Dan Vs, Solar Opposites, Duck Dodgers, Beavis and Butt-Head, The Tick, The Mask, The Aquabats, Life with Louie, maybe Camp WWE and Brickleberry for the cheap generic gags and ridiculous gross plots.

Gibson is actually one of the last Gen Xers but Xers are stereotypically insecure and forever chasing trends and youth. Tiny Toons was a boomer show.

Bugs being used as a moral symbol is fairly bizarre when he's famous as a crazed antisocial character. He should be the one secretly smoking and drinking in a paranoid Prohibition-style setting, as a joke, and the inner madness slowly unfolding. Guess you can't do that kinda stuff anymore.

I like how the image we were going off looked very vibrant and lively with the lights, and honestly the real art looks dim and depressing

It's crazy to me that a cartoon that was only on for two years in the early 90s is apparently more valuable than a new idea. WB's really scraping around the barrel. Animators gotta eat, though.

I don't think this reboot would ruin anyone's childhood or anything, the original itself wasn't a masterpiece and the first season in particular had a noticeable chunk of episodes based around moral messages like not stealing, not cheating, etc. It was still the early 90s. So conceptually, you could be just as cynical as the old Tiny Toons one acknowledging that they're knockoffs and where Babs and Buster would fake enthusiasm for others' cartoons.

But I really don't see how this is going to do anything for WB animation's brand. They just had "classic style" Looney Tunes cartoons where they tried as hard as they could with the budget they had to be like the originals and still no one cared. If the reception was that icy, how are Tiny Toons going to do any better with viewers? Who bet on this horse and why?

This cartoon aired for 98 episodes, 1 direct-to-video movie, and two specials and the reruns aired for a few years after they stopped making new ones. They revived it because 90s nostalgia is now in and Animaniacs was more of a success than they thought it would be, so WB wants a 90s nostalgia cartoon of their own that you can watch on HBO Max instead of Hulu.

        >They revived it because 90s nostalgia is now in and Animaniacs was more of a success than they thought it would be
90s nostalgia was a 2010s thing, we are in 2000s nostalgia now, these things cycle in 20 year gaps, much like how the 80s were big in the 2000s and the 70s made a comeback in the 1990s.

For someone like me born in the mid 80s, something like a TTA and Animaniacs reboot should have come out ten years ago. Not only would have nu-Animaniacs fared much better, but I would have been in my 20s and in a better position in my life to watch and care. As I slowly get closer to 40 I basically grew up and out of this stuff, (changing tastes and lack of time) and I am pretty bitter with regards to how something like the new Space Jam or CDRR movie was handled.

I honestly don't hold out alot of hope for the TTA reboot, new writers have proven themselves worthless with regards to Animaniacs. If anything, the best thing the TTA reboot will give us is that it was basically the key we needed to unlock a vault of new lewds from porn artists that would have never touched these characters previously because they were minors, which is funny as frick to me because they look exactly the same, but because the "canon aged them up", its a-okay by many atists' standards.

Boomers are aging out so with Xers and older Millennials taking up the reins of things now, the '90s for the next few decades are going to be what the '60s were until recently.

If you guys don't start knocking on doors at these talentless zoomers and executices, producers, HR roasties who hire them over good writers/directors then nothing is going to change.

Any character in the back who hasn't had a redesign (so everyone but Shirley, Fifi and Furrball) are going to be cameo characters who only appear once in awhile at most, if not only once
Someone like Elmyra screams a one episode cameo

People here said that it would be aged up even though there was no proof of it for a year and still isn't.

They keep mentioning them being in college specifically. Not "looniversity" but college as direct words. That's implying, unless they mention otherwise which is still possible, that they are college aged.
Also if you look at Acme Acres it really looks like a proper college campus. That alongside the college coffee hangout, the redesigns, and one of the leaks from ages ago showed them in dorms

          >looniversity
That meant university, going to college is a downgrade. Moreover, them being 13-14 a canon really made no sense if they were in "university". Should have made them 18-19 from the start. Or, just called it school.

It was just called a "looniversity" because of the pun. Though in terms of plots the character ages seemed all over the place. I mean, they're toons, they get into weird shit, but sometimes it felt like they were adults, sometimes it felt like they were kids, sometimes it felt like they were very little kids, sometimes it felt like they were awkwardly going through puberty kids. It was a mess all around.

Its also easier to revamp a pre-existing franchise than make a completely new one from scratch.
