sum of all fears lacks something
wouldn't even say it's Afflecks fault it's just mid
        not sure
nowhere near as good as hunt for red october
I'd even put clear and present danger far above sum of all fears just because of the length and comfy setting

That's the only one unfortunately. The rest of the clancykino is in vidya format.

Over the past year I've been slowly working my way through the Clancy-verse in between other books. My ratings thus far:
    >Tier 1
The Hunt for Red October, Red Storm Rising, The Cardinal of the Kremlin, Clear and Present Danger (my favorite)
    >Tier 2
The Sum of All Fears (good but a little shark jumpy and contrived)
    >Tier 3
Patriot Games (really just never grabbed me)

Without Remorse is up next and a lot of people say it's the best but then the books fall off a cliff right after. What am I in for?

I agree with your list. I liked Cardinal a lot. Patriot was ok but not as good as the others

I find it strange that boomer is used as a negative term on Cinemaphile. most of the values promoted here peaked when boomers were ruling the earth

Peaked when the boomers were children . Once you morons took control we've been moving from one catastrophe to the next. Do the world a favor and /rope/

Sad to know that if the made a Red Storm Rising movie today then the European front meatgrinder would just be 20 guys fighting 20 guys with two tanks each.

There was a time when I was a Clancy enjoyer and I have most of his books. They are great. But Red October is the only movie I can accept. The others are either bad or they have hardly anything in common with the novel. Ryan is a great book character but Hollywood failed to get him right in the movies. While he sees some action in the books, he is no action hero at all and he isnt even a great spy. And when these movies were made, you needed a bangbangpewpew climax. An booksmart analythic doesnt fit

I enjoyed the first two seasons. They seemed to understand that Jack Ryan isn't supposed to be a super soldier and is an actual intelligence agent who uses his brain.

I just finished it and didn't like it, especially the last season. Being a fan of the books may have had something to do with it, but the writing didn't make sense a lot of the time.
