TOO YOUNG TO HAVE A REAL ENDING

Did it have anything to end? I only saw 2 episodes of the first season but it seemed random slice of life shit.

It had some sort of plot with an evil sentient toaster that was wrapped up abruptly and some sort of renewal-bait cliffhanger ending.
Also I posted that because I thought that was a thing they said in the show I apparently hallucinated that joke.

I was in a Barnes and Noble or Books a Million like a year or two ago and I'm pretty sure I saw a plush of that guy on a table for sale. A non-descript, shoddy white blob.

Anybody can publish stuff there. To be honest, last year I made cheap coloring books and I got banned from Amazon for making too many at once with reusing art, they still have one store with them in stock.

        Anonymous

How do you make and sell your own coloring books anon? Did they get printed and sold in stores or something?

          Anonymous

Amazon has a solid publishing service, there are lolcows who manage. you can do it for free if you're fine with being e reader locked, but a full 200-300 page book can cost anywhere between 2 to 10 usd per copy, the cost goes up if it starts selling well. Colouring books are usually cheeper, but you have to game their algorithms with keywords to get noticed.
really If you want to do some good and moderately profitable work for humanity at large, try to find rare old books in public domain, edit them and publish them online. you're doing alot more than repoasting work since ideas of formatting where pretty bad 150 years ago, it's solid editorial work.

In his (sort of) defense, didn't this dude pitch his show to Netflix before they started gunning down all their animated projects?

yeah, he and Ethan both pitched the show back in early 2020.

What can make a netflix show earn 5 or more seasons?

        Anonymous

It’s a proportional scale of “what % of Stranger Things streaming numbers did you get” vs “how much did it cost to produce an episode”.
Bonus points if you get someone other than Netflix to pay for it.

Well according to Voltron and She-Ra it's "Buy it all up front but split the number you have into X seasons" which is why said seasons bounce the frick around in amount.

cheap, high views, dont have the staff try to unionize

        Anonymous

It has to be incredibly popular and or cheap. Big Mouth has a lot off-setting its costs while Stranger Things is one of the most popular franchises of the last decade.

The reason Netflix doesn't make more than two seasons of most things anymore is because staff rates go up every season, and Netflix is a prostitute to their own stats. If Netflix wants another season then they have to weigh paying staff slightly more versus what their stats tells them, which is that viewership drops off dramatically after two seasons. Two seasons seems to be the sweet spot people like to binge on, which is Netflix's entire model.

So Netflix likes to "cheat out" seasons, like with Inside Job they bought a regular season amount of 18 episodes, but split it up into "two seasons". This way they pay for one season but actually get to spin it as two. They've done this with every show since Stranger Things.

          this anon gets it.
the people in charge are holding the bags. they need artists and luckily for them there are literally millions of you. the job is not hard, that's why 20 year olds can do it, and it can be outsourced. they treat you as disposable because you are. the biggest threat to these companies is artists actually asking questions and sticking up for one another. otherwise ya'll will be replaced by ai anyways so some moronic coke head producer can think they're a success. don't say you weren't warned.

Two seasons isn’t a bad amount for a cartoon

        Anonymous

Yes it is. It's literally the bare minimum cartoons get these days. Even if a show is total shit and bombs it's pretty much always greenlit for a 2nd season immediately.

    >Cancelling cartoons with low ratings
    >Diverting more money towards independently-produced cartoons and anime
Normally I'd applaud such actions. It implies some meritocracy at work. Yet it's difficult to give Netflix credit when they created the problem for themselves in the first place. Giving animators free reign, letting nepotism fester with no oversight, imposing agendas and quotas, those are all Netflix's doing.
They should have made this turnaround before they had to gut their animation so thoroughly and without compassion. But better late than never.

You guys triggered a memory of me watching like the first couple episodes. He had an alligator best friend who of course was black they were fighting some evil Frankenstein toaster they unwittingly created. His parents were also vaguely unsupportive which I found kinda funny for an all ages show. I was like oh we’re going into the Gumball or Gravity Falls type of family are we? Fricking Fox, CN and Disney ruined family shows huh? Guess Nickelodeon is at fault too. No animated series can have nice well adjusted families anymore.
