For me, far more than the original, I like the sort of retrospective, aging hero, one last hurrah vibe. For once the hype didn't oversell it, atleast for me. It very much felt like an 80's film. There is definitely a fair bit of artistic license to make a fun movie. But feel free to do a deep dive on sead/dead (an example being the aim 88 harm) vs what the tomahawks are used for vs an air base. It's pretty cool tech.
I already saw it, but I'm thinking of seeing it again in 4DX. Seems like it would be appropriate for this kind of movie.

I like that they were able to get Val Kilmer in the movie in a way that made sense while acknowledging his throat cancer.
