It was BORING, the series rightfully glossed over them after viewers had seen all the handsigns, and lengthy jutsu like OP picrel.

Looking back, naruto was pretty consistent power wise up until the war arc. This fight from the very first arc was still a really high level display of power and skill for a long time even. A lot of shark jumping moments are also a lot less out of place later on because right after this fight Kakashi explains to naruto and the reader that even with a system for measuring power in place, you can still possibly run into people much younger but much more powerful than kakashi and zabuza. Wasn't until the war arc started and things turned to pure capeshit did it feel like the power structure stopped mattering IMO.

i dont really care for naruto so much and didnt read the manga but the big kage fight at the end of season one or whatever was still sort of fine. some (a lot) of high level fights and flashy but they dont actually have to be since they are all still human and die if they get stabbed. tobimaru and narutos dad just fricking teleport around and stab people and they are (ignoring shitty lore and bullshit) two of the absolute most powerful and fears ninja in the series

i haven't watched naruto in 15+ years but I remember there's a part during the chunin exam arc where a sound ninja (I think) gets attacked by a guy with a katana, he hits him in the shoulder, and the sword just gets stuck in his armor. Then the ninja just calmly says nice sword gay, use a blade made of wind next time, and kills him with a gust of wind. I remember that annoyed me because I thought it sucked that the show didn't have more badass swordsman or samurai like characters.

      >Looking back, naruto was pretty consistent power wise up until the war arc.
This is going to make me sound like a sperg, but I think the point that the entire story lost consistent power levels is when they introduced the "shadow clones make you learn faster" thing. IIRC this was introduced when Naruto was learning to combine wind element with Rasengan, by using hundreds of shadow clones he was able to turn years of training into like a week.

But Naruto has been able to do this from the literal first volume of the manga. Literally, the only thing preventing him from accumulating a lifetime of knowledge in the span of about a month is that he was too moronic to understand the implication of shadow clones retaining memories, or, worse, that Kakashi/Jiraiya/Sarutobi never bothered to explain it to him.

Naruto had a vague understanding of how his clones kept some memories but he was too dumb to use in a productive way

Definitely. But Kakashi surely understood it. Why not teach him about it? Especially in the context of Jinchuuriki being the ninja world equivalent of wmds? And Naruto being the son of his beloved mentor? Why would you not want the kid to be as strong as possible?

Kakashi is like the opposite example of the phrase, 'those you can't do, teach'. Pretty much all of the lessons he taught the kids in part one revolved around chakra preservation, something he himself struggles with because he has naturally low reserves exasperated by the sharingan. However, none of his students have this problem. Sakura already has great chakra control, Saskue is a natural born Uchiha, and Naruto basically has an infinite chakra hack activated at all times. He tried to help them using his own experience, but it didn't really apply.

Remember when the Sharingan was an incredible ability because it allowed you to copy techniques, and not some random god-tier shit that gave you:
    >master level taijutsu (how did Sasuke copy Lee's weight training with eye magic?)
    >master level genjutsu
    >master level ninjutsu that comes from the eye itself
    >a boatload of other god powers, including the random power to control the nine-tailed fox

Sharingan had to keep getting upgrades because Kishimoto wanted Sasuke to be at the same level of Naruto

Naruto power levels only made sense in the first part of the manga. Orochimaru vs 3rd Hokage should have basically been the pinnacle of raw power in the series, with other high level characters being comparable in power, but different in application. Instead, we have people throwing meteors at people and shit in shippuden. Fricking bullshit.

One of the powers people regularly use in Naruto is a magical camouflage/hypnosis to trick enemies. The female character tried using it against the guy when he has super powers that make him immune to hypnosis, and able to hypnotize other people in horrifying ways, like forcing them to live through days of torture in their head when mere seconds pass.

Is Kurenai the biggest example of everything that's wrong with Naruto? She devoted her entire life to mastering Genjutsu, training for countless hours and modeling her entire ninja way around it. All that hard work, dedication and sacrifice and any random Uchiha kid could effortlessly surpass her in a few months of training because he happened to be born with plot device eyes. No amount of hard work will ever allow her to close the gap between them because he was just born better.

I mean the power levels of adults don't make sense in general.
Even Kakashi felt very weak post tumeskip until he got an upgrade from Obito.
Meanwhile Guy was secretly one of the strongest characters all along and he didn't use his powers sooner (like, before Madara got the ten tails) because umm because he just didn't ok (it's not like Kishi felt like giving him a randomly badass moment out of the blue)

Bro I’m confident that I could beat the best female fighter in the world with just a few months of training and conditioning, and so could at least 20% if this board, women are weak as shit and no amount of dedicating their life to something could ever overcome biological differences
