Didn't like it
>beginning is boring and slow
>after the middle it become rushed, too many misplaced ellipses
>way too long (2h35m!) without ever warranting the size, a failed modern big-person epic
>Blanchett couldn't give a bad performance if she tried but the role make it praisebait
>#metoo thematic well developed, the lunacy of the thing is low key exposed
>all the musical talk is uninteresting and the milieu strongly snobbish

Blonde is a much better exercise in female decay and self-destruction under the spotlight. Also the great All About Eve for master/pupil shenanigans.

Well, if you knew about Tárr, you'd know it was missing one r. Not much to care here, I'm afraid.

Yeah, I prefer when people write more than a bunch of buzzwords after they watched a movie, even when you don't like it.

It well as a move exploring a characters relationship with power but as a viewer it was somewhat disappointing that her entire downfall happens in the last half hour and mostly in scenes we never actually see.

None of its themes get interesting developments. Maybe with the exception of how her self delusions are shown from her perspective, like after she hears that Schopenhauer quote. Politics or relationships lack depth. Characters aren't very complex and only Blanchett is properly entertaining. Not enough actual music, too much talk about it. Wastes too much time on setting up the stage, many shots are too long and could be cut with no meaning lost.

Everyone's got their autisms and a big one for me is watching things beginning to the very end after I start. I'm in the minority of course, skipping (waaay) ahead is a workable idea.

It's not a biopic, Lydia Tar is a fictional character.

True kino is when you put the character's middle name as the movie title.

The actual MHW soundtrack is pretty good for a game where you beat up magic dinosaurs and make animu armor out of their hides. The real shame in playing such a concert is the audience it attracts.

Was this the person openly mocking Tar on a live call at the beginning? Why did she seem so flirty one second and said her apartment was in a run down building? Almost felt like a set up

A lot of surreal moments happen, her getting lost while trying to find her new infatuation and then going face first on concrete, that desperate scream in the park, the book in the plane, etc. Not totally sure of the point of it all tbqh

I read up on the book. It was sent to her from the girl who was accusing her of stuff and is involves a woman pretending to be a man or something. Not sure what it’s supposed to mean

Also the screaming in the park was audio from the chick screaming at the end of Blair Witch Project, which is an interesting choice

How does it show that #metoo was lunacy? Isn't it a film about how sexual abusers are bad?

Kind of depends on the viewer. It doesn’t really tell you what to think, which is pretty based

Shows how the cancel culture of our time rushes to make a spectacle of the elimination of an accused individual, death while in life. Gotta run to the other side of the world to not feel like an outlaw.
In several moments the tyrannical virtual signaling of the youth is showcased, clearly in a pejorative way. The fake video montage is a blunt way to put the point across. Frick Max, btw. Universities are filled with that type of creature.

Nobody goes to see kino in the theater because they are all seeing Black Adam and homie Pantha. Then the kinos bomb and they never make or release movies like them again.
