My favorite Transformers series. A shame we’ll never get another Armada Starscream.
considering how some writers woobiefy Starscream so hard, its a matter of time till another attempt at a Armada Starscream happens
But best girl must also be there, and this franchise seems allergic to bringing back human characters if they’re not from G1.
yeah thats something i've noticed, hell we don't really even get the Witwicky's as much as you'd think either.
Eh, feels like Hasbro still wouldn't allow to fully go that way.
They were much more willing to experiment in those ages than now,
I’ve been watching Micron Legend at one episode a week this year since it’s the 20th anniversary for the series, and it’s so much better than the unfortunately rushed dub. It does start off a little slow in the beginning, but as soon as the halfway point hits, it’s absolutely stellar from then on.
Yeah, really seems like it nowadays. Maybe that’s why I’ve been largely bored with the franchise for the past five years. The only (and I mean literally the only) thing that has entertained me at all since 2018 are those little manga strips Takara makes for the toys.
Micron Legend might be the best Transformers show overall.
It’s criminally underrated and it has the best Starscream. Prime Starscream has nothing, absolutely nothing, on Armada Starscream.
considering we've gotten Autobot Megatron in both IDW and EarthSpark, i don't think its impossible to see a return to a more honourbound conflicted Starscream
Aaron Archer talked about this in his videos; he compared transformers int he 2000's before the movies to a small house, they weren't expected to reach past a certain budget and standard. Then the movies came out the house got "bigger", and they were expected to maintain a certain standard. They needed to make a specific profit, needed to maintain shelfspace in stores, needed to maintain characters visual appearances, etc. Which is why it stopped being as experimental
Basically, Bayshit ruined the series by turning it into ungatekept normies bait
it's funny how they inmediately fricked everything up with Prime. People forget RID15 did save the franchise after that blunder. That and Combiner Wars (the toyline, the show is garbage).
Prime was good. RiD was dogshit and barely sold.
>this is what revisionists actually believe
Prime was a disaster in almost every single way. RID15 sold so well the toyline got extended into 2018.
>Revisionist
I was alive when Prime was airing, unlike you apparently. Everyone loved Prime. RiD was unwatchable drek for babies that clogged store shelves for years with McDonalds tier toys that nobody wanted.
>Everyone
Online. RiD did better with kids and sold more toys.
>I was alive when Prime was airing,
Some of us are old enough to be adults for both and have seen reports from Hasbro at cons.
So what you're saying is that one is more popular with real fans and one was only watched by people who clap at YouTube videos of pregnant Elsa
>real fans
who sure as frick weren't watching it when it aired or buying the toys enough
They're obviously lying about RiD sales because they literally never moved at all. I know you aren't old enough to remember and have never collected but those things just clogged half the toy aisle collecting dust while the Generations toys moved within hours
>anecdotal evidence
You are under 26 aren't you?
>people who clap at YouTube videos of pregnant Elsa
yeah, kids. And that's how the franchise makes money at retail. Adult fans either shop online or are just buying 3P.
Prime bombing as a toyline shouldn't make you dislike it anything, facts are just facts and it underperformed. Don't take it personally.
Nobody was watching Prime and the toys shelfwarmed so bad the last year of the toyline was cheap upscaled legends toys. The only reason they kept killing characters off was because they could no longer afford celebrity voice actors.
And funny you say McDonald's because RID15 was successful enough that it apparently has the record of most McDonald's tie ins.
You may not like RiD 2015, or the toys, but at the end of the day it was on Cartoon Network and streaming while it was still new, so it got a way bigger boost than Prime, stuck on the Hub.
Prime aired on Cartoon Network on most markets outside the US and also was a fixture of streaming. Plus it also aired on the CW.
>Plus it also aired on the CW
On a Saturday morning block that died in about two years.
Still counts as national television.
Pretty sure RiD did better just by virtue of not constanly draining money.
Pretty sure the writers even said they could have gone for another season (probably because the show was already Bumblebee-centric), but decided they liked the ending as it was.
>Everyone loved Prime.
Maybe at the start, but I definately remember a lot of people being disappointed at all the interesting ideas being discarded for the most boring shit ever.
>Pretty sure the writers even said they could have gone for another season (probably because the show was already Bumblebee-centric), but decided they liked the ending as it was.
They did. They figured they couldn't end it any better and that's how we got Cyberverse right after.
They just gave him a new toy
But without SWINDLE
Habro loves to hurt us.
So I'm finding out. Haven't bought a Transformers since Armada was a thing. I almost bought the recent remakes until I saw they didn't come with minicons. And then the ugly Hot Shot redeco gets Jolt instead
I just want a complete package
we are Hasbro's toys. We are for THEIR amusement
That is pretty much how Earthspark Starscream is. Except he has the G1 colour scheme and you swap Alexis for Hashtag for the self-insert.
Hell he even has blue optics to really drive the point home.
the weird part is his eyes were red in his first appearance.
Yeah that was weird. Even in the flashbacks he has blue eyes. Hopefully they explain it in season 2 what the deal with that is.
I feel like I'm the only Starscream stan who doesn't like how he is treated like some uwu misunderstood baby. Frick it, he is a backstabbing jerkass and that's why we all love him. I felt reaaally iffy about IDW 'Scream. On one hand, it's cool giving him some sympathetic qualities. On other hand, it felt like some shitty fanfiction where characters are all uwu nice and sassy.
Skybound Starscream is a remedy for that just making him a complete monster.
Man, he is piece of work in Skybound. That scene where Starscream just crushes a guy with his hands was brutal. Also that one page where Skywarp just kicks people to death like they are some fricking bugs. This comic really managed to convey how terrifying transformers are for a mere human. It really gives a different perspective on why Autobots want to protect humans. Cause if you have a morally loose Decepticon, nothing stops him from crushing humans like ants. Terrific stuff.
I was so into him as a teen, but let's face it. Some 'Screams are GOAT, while others are really shitty. Although, nothing can beat Dorito Starscream in terms of shittyness.
Chad Dorito.
WHERRRRE IS THE CUBE
>Although, nothing can beat Dorito Starscream in terms of shittyness
He does have my favorite Starscream line though
>"Not to call you a coward, master, but, sometimes, cowards do survive."
I still long for the days of this magnificent bastard. I want a Starscream who will take power in his hands and fight a god again.
I got into Transformers in 2008, well before that stuff really kicked off with Prime Starscream. Armada Starscream has been my favorite version of the character for literally 15 years at this point.
I do not know who starscream is missing but I ship it
Alexis from Transformers Armada. She and Starscream got pretty close in that series.
You exaggerate.
The point is that it's a good ship
No. The point is you are a fool
Armada was great for someone mispronouncing a character name or just outright saying the wrong name in almost every single episode.
Alexis was the only best human that has a well done written and character development, makes her to fit perfectly to the Transformers series imo.
Comparatively speaking, Alexis was the only human in Armada who actually HAD a character and an arc to her. The rest were basically just there to be seen.
Does she have good fan content?
a bit
Also, probably some fanfiction.
>ESL post
>armada gay
Checks out
That's the transformers cartoon I watched
I bet you aren't even old enough to remember that literally the entire selling point of the shitty toys was to tie in to a half baked app.
Yep, Alexis.
Is she actually attractive?
Yes, but the Alexis in the post you responded to is from Dreamwave’s Energon comic. She’s a different version of the same character, and in my view, not as good as the one in the animes.
Windblade did nothing wrong.
Which one?
Other than the Combiner Wars one, has there ever been a bad one?
I'm guessing you meant Titans Return, there was no Combiner Wars Windblade
and yeah the TR one is ass.
I really need to pick up that Legacy Armada Prime.
I wish there were more Starscreams that started off totally loyal to Megatron, only to slowly rebel against his leader when he realizes that Megatron had lost the plot and had forsaken their original goals (assuming Megatron first fought for freedom against a tyrannical regime, real or imagined). Starscream would turn against his master as a mutiny, hoping to redirect the Deceptcions to their original goals.
Of course, Starscream will have to be careful he doesn't fall in the same trap Megatron fell into.
I miss Gary Chalk and David Kaye
Reminder that the crew of Micron Legend shipped Starscream and Alexis.
But why though?
Jin Yamanoi absolutely was into it.
Good man! I’m very interested to know just who it was that thought up the Starscream and Alexis storyline.
im not sure whose idea it was, probably one of the japanese show runners or writers.
Looking back on Armada, it had three things going for it.
>Relatively good animation
>Cool toys at lots of different price ranges with lots of play features
>Memorable characters (Hot Shot and Starscream)
I think the problem with 200X He-Man was that it only had one or maybe two of those and that's why it flopped.
I'd say it had all of those, big problem is the toys had distribution issues where you couldn't really find a lot of the characters, and the concept just didn't resonate as much with kids at the time. The focus group kids they got just thought it was weird He-man was shirtless
>big problem is the toys had distribution issues where you couldn't really find a lot of the characters
Wasn't the issue that they kept putting out too many He-Men and Skeletors?
Yes, far too many versions of them both, while other important characters were often impossible to find. The cartoon got cancelled because the toy line was cancelled for not selling, which was Mattel's own fault.
I always thought it was:
TRANSFORMERS
MORE THAN MEATS D.I.
what did you think the D. I. stood for?
I wish Japan would take another crack at a Transformers series, but alas, Prime damn near killed interest in the franchise over there.
I miss Hot Shot and Red Alert
>it's robots IN DISGUISE
>Now get it RIGHT or PAY the PRICE
Frick you, Ug Lee!
Super mode Optimus is the best and they should bring it back
Is that the one where some transformers disguised as dancing cars, and another as a street light in the middle of a highway in the desert?
How bad is Earthspark
It's pretty alright except for a few episodes and it has the shittiest villain in Transformers cartoons.
its a mixed bag. YMMV on characters like Nightshade or Hashtag.
it has some great episodes like Warzone and What Dwells Beneth but then you have shit like the Home 2 parter.
>People should be accepting of the murder robots that had a very public war not even a decade ago!
Better yet that not long before there was an episode very much about detailing said war and its casualties.
thats what was so jarring about the graffiti scene. everyone knows what happened back then was bad and its understandable why humans might not be genuinely comfortable with this current era of coperation.
the only way this could've been fixed is if Home took place before Warzone. Warzone is now recontextualized as the kids and terrans getting grounded for their actions and this is the education lesson on why.
also getting mad over graffiti is so dumb especially cause that friend of Robby's just paints over it, hell the graffiti wasn't even offensive. god Robby sucks.
Robby is the second coming of Kicker.
its kinda insane how much i genuinely do not like him. his sister Mo's aight (your typical precocious little girl), his parents are genuinely great characters but Robby's a whiny ass brat.
TRANSFORMERS
MUSLIMS FRICKING DIE
>Hasbro will never use the better Micron Legend footage in North America.
Also, this is Cinemaphile.
at most we got is the Unicron Battles opening using some of the animation from Micron Legends first opening.
Armada had one of the best versions of the Transformers theme since G1.
Yes, Armada’s theme has always been my favorite.
ALL WORLDS ARE IN DANGER
I wish Alexis had a larger role in Energon. She could’ve been the one to bring back Starscream’s memories. I would’ve forgiven the series its terrible dub and shitty CGI if that had happened.
its kinda insane they like never had her even encounter the reborn Starscream or acknowledge it.
It's not so insane when you realize that Super Link/Energon was terribly written
They would’ve made the cutest couple ever.
Isn't it great how in Energon they revived him but never had his corpse interact with Alexis. Good times...
My ideal Starscream is one that has the UT character arc but on purpose
Cybertron competence optional
I guess that's a good thread to ask.
I want to read Marvel comics but I don't get all the reading orders posted online.
I want to read the good shit by Furman, so should I read Classics or Classics UK? I downloaded the trades but it seems that USA goes to shit after a while. So I probs need to read Classics and then read Classics UK too?
Basically, how do I approach reading this
