        Very little compared to Oz.
Vampire blood is a sort of superpowered sexual intoxicant capable of healing human wounds in minutes.
If a human drinks vampire blood from a vampire, it leads to lingering sexual thoughts about the vampire they get it from. Gay, or straight.
There are a couple of gay characters, mainly Lafayette, but Lafayette is a very likeable character. If all gays were Lafayette, the world would be fine. Most characters are heterosexual, and there is a ton of heterosexual sex on screen, no shortage of hot chicks getting naked in pretty much softcore porn, but no gay sex on screen. Just a few uncomfortable nude scenes.
Nudity, both male and female, is quite common. Most of the nudity is the hot attractive characters, but some is not. The fat sheriff is photographed naked once as a practical joke, and it is just his ass shown, but dude has a rather well developed ass. You can tell he is on the downside of a guy who used to work out a lot and went flabby.
Basically, if you see a chick in the show, 90% chance you are going to see her ass and breasts, and a 50% chance you are going to see bush.
The show was pretty equal in both male and female nudity fanservice.
Story is okay, so don't expect anything groundbreaking. Just tell the truth, you're really watching for the gratuitous nudity and drama.

I am unfamiliar with gay sex, but the position the boyfriend was in and the lack of any thrusting on Eric's part before staking him indicated to me that dick had not yet entered ass.
Moreso that the boyfriend was writhing in anticipation as Eric's dick was laying on his ass cheeks about to.

Tara is one of the most irredeemably shitty, annoying, and unlikable characters I've ever seen that isn't an antagonist. One of the reasons I stopped watching before the show ended.

              >Give her a backstory that explains her shitty behaviour

Season one was solid. Season two had a considerable slump with a mediocre villain. Season three introduced best villain, Russell Edgington.

Everything after this requires that you have loved everything up to this part.

Season four slumps again, much worse than season two. Season five is only watchable because of the villain. After this part, there is nearly zero justification for watching.

There are two more seasons, Rutger Hauer is in at least one of them. The final season is completely unwatchable.

In summary, season one is definitely worth your time for prime Anna Paquin. Also, Jason Stackhouse, King of the Frickboys. Also, a young Deborah Ann Woll in the last couple episodes. Everything after that is increasingly suspect.

Thank you for the validation. The core premise of classic, supernatural vampires intersecting with the titular, sci-fi synthetic blood, allowing them to drop the masquerade, was such an interesting concept. But there was only so much to extract from that, and then the show really floundered.

The really bad part was the retconning; in season one, they’re in an irrelevant backwater, but in season five, “oh yeah, the globe-spanning council governing all vampires is a couple parishes over.” There’s other instances, but that one was particularly jarring.

Agreed. It's also kind of making me want to watch it again until I can't take it because I want to see how it unfolds to that absurdity from the really perfect insular first season.

I did that once and made it into season seven, but couldn’t finish it. They fricked up major by not having Warlow as final season.

            But as this anon

No the worst plot was anything Sam Merlotte like his biracial side chick and Shitbull half brother or whatever

Anna Camp was glorious but making Sarah Newlin the final boss was pretty weak. The show was still just high on Sarah Palin hate and their politics robbed us of a good final act.

acknowledges, they couldn’t help but make right-wing Christians the final and greatest evil of them all. Will Yun Lee did have a fun turn as Japanese-cowboy-pharma-CEO, but I still couldn’t get through that last season.

As people have said the first seasons are the best, I think after season 4 or 5 the writer changed? Or they deivated from the books at bit more? Can't remember but it starts to lose its camp appeal and that's the key to enjoying this show - don't take it seriously, because it doesn't take itself seriously. It's supposed to be funny and over the top. I feel like the actors had a lot of fun doing certain scenes and it makes it a fun show to watch (for the most part). I only got through the last season because I was already invested, but it has a lot of cringey emotional speeches and way less campy fun. I say it's definitely worth watching but if you lose interest a few seasons in, don't worry, you're not missing much.

Humidity in summer is ruthless. Don't try to fight it with AC. Instead, embrace it and cycle. Keep your home around 73-75 degrees, until dark and then your sleeping area cooler than that. Your body will adapt.
Mosquitoes are weird. I am from the south and they never really bothered me. Alter your body chemistry with alcohol. They fricking hate that shit.
Alligators usually try to get away from you, unless you are splashing around in the water.
Solution: Don't go fricking swimming in lakes. It's gross anyway.
You missed the snakes. Snakes in LA are a danger. Cottonmouths and water moccasins are vicious, bad tempered, and will frick you up.
Solution: Watch where you are putting your fricking feet when walking in the woods and follow the above rule of not swimming in nasty lakes.
Rattlesnakes are similar, except they are loud and more chickenshit, and don't like the water.
Solution: If you hear something buzzing while you are happy assholing around in the woods, stop, move backwards, and go home the way you came. They won''t chase you.
Seriously, dangerous wildlife is easy to work with once you learn a few basic rules. Mainly, frick off when you see or hear it and don't frick with it.

Dick choppers and israelites are why.
I never complained when Ryan Kwanten was dancing around in his underwear in True Blood.
I understood that I was going to see some breasts and ass too.
It worked because men and women both got to see softcore stuff they liked.
It's amazing how a show can be successful if you give male and female viewers what they want to see.
Gay guys can enjoy the same as straight women, and lesbians can enjoy the same as straight men.
It's only when the dick choppers and israelites get involved that no one wants anything to do with a show.

Its the best Capeshit ever put to film. The vampires can fly, Sookeh is a fairy with light shooting powers. Accept that and its fun. Every actor is perfect and so are their characters. There's no long winded emotional talks, the episodes start and end on cliffhangers. It gets corny at the end, but still, NETFLIX should teach this show as show making 101.

True Blood is actually great, it absolutely nails it's setting and while at it's time, it was W O K E beyond belief, by now it would be considered very measured in terms of it's social commentary.
Honestly, it was just such a fun ride. I rewatched the entire series a few years ago and I'd recommend it.

There is a point somewhere along the way where the show stops taking itself seriously and embraces it's fun characters.

Only negative is the obligatory sassy black womyn character.

Tara got b***hslapped back all the time if not by Sookie, by Lafayette.

Ehhhhhhhhhh you're reachin' a little there. Tara's a gigab***h all the time, yeah, but she repeatedly gets called out on it. It's not really the same as the sassy always right do no wrong characters you get now.

I've never been angrier with a television series as I was when they finally killed her off only to have her come back as a vampire for absolutely no purpose

She might have had purpose early on but her character just lurks around being c**ty all of the time. If you took her out of the series, True Blood would probably be remembered much more fondly

And then they kill her again off-screen.

Only Skarsgard and Deborah Ann-Woll made it after True Blood.

This guy deserved better, he finished True Blood then reverted to being a Z-lister.

He does have some comedy chops though. Let him keep working out and be an oblivious himbo and it's pure gold.

Not having buddy cop stuff with Jason and Andy was such squandered potential.

I liked it when he became the pussy-eating slave of that one vampire and I was like "damn I would not be complaining about being the pussy-eating slave"

And then to find out that she was just fricking with him to find out how far she could push him until he finally lost it and decided that he was going to put his dick in her whether she liked it or not....
        She definitely liked it.
"I'm a little disappointed it took you this long to decide to frick me..." while shuddering in pleasure as he jammed it in her as she wiggled around to make it easier for him.
Yeah. Tough choice between shy redhead and wanton frickbawd.

I dated a girl recently who was way into this shit, I hate how fricking hard it nosedives after the end of season 1
There was so much potential for basic good storytelling with Jessica and Hoyt and they throw the entire thing out the goddamn window for dawnguard-but-terrorists larp and implied homosexualry
Godric was the one and only good thing about Season 2
