True Detective

The beginning of this series tries to allude that Rust was the killer but did anyone else watch it and feel like that was a red herring and that Marty could be the killer? Especially with the second to last episode? I find rewatching it from this perspective is valid up until the end.

Actually, it was the memory of someone else's murder---and the memory is fading away.

I didn't get that at all. If you are referring to the reason why rust is being interviewed than yes you're supposed to think the cops think rust is somehow involved, but as the series progresses if anything you realize it's probably the cops who are trying to pin it on rust on orders from their superiors for still sniffing around and breaking in to the mayors house or whoever.

Yes but also Marty is not innocent as shown in the series. If Rust was possible suspected because he had access and was a detective then same with Marty. Also the scene where he checks if his revolver is loaded before meeting up with rust in present time. Highly eludes he is the bad guy. Also watch the intro. The part where Marty has an evil looking face with the highway projected over it. Makes him look reminiscent of his character in NBK. Just some subtle red herrings thrown in to keep you guessing. I’m surprised it’s not mentioned more.

Did you watch it while high anon?
Your brain is making connections that aren't necessarily done intentionally, it's partly why it's fun sometimes but it's not discussed here because it's not really there.
As for Marty loading the gun, he's worried rust might be actually be involved or just insane and he's scared.
You're trying to prove yourself correct by inventing motive where there is none.

Exactly. This is why the show is so good. You can make connections like this with a lot of the characters because it’s ultimately a mystery.

Did the pedo morons really put the pedo sign in their secret base? Very smart and also very very subtle from the directors perspective.

Intersectionality is thebides that oppression cannot be decomposed into orthogonal axes of characteristics. That is: the misogynoir a black woman faces is not just a linear combination of the oppression blacks face and the oppression women face, but is its own unique thing. Or at least that was the original use. Now it's just a shibboleth like DEI or queer or BlackRock.

The only two possibilities are that either rust was so good he convinced the police that he was the killer, or the guys behind this were going to keep killing and they could still influence the police department to go after rust when they did another ritual murder.
