Twenty years from now, more people will appreciate what this movie was doing, just like people have finally started to come around on Revolutions.
Twenty years from now, more people will appreciate what this movie was doing, just like people have finally started to come around on Revolutions.
Nobody came around on Revolutions. That one is still crap too.
>Nobody came around on Revolutions. That one is still crap too.
Not true. I watched it recently and it was surprising how elevated it is by a exposure to a decade of capeslop.
It's the weakest of the four but it mostly sticks the landing and somehow doesn't overstay it's welcome despite the old "40 minute CG battle" meme
Weakest of the three you mean
>weakest of the four
This is ture, but its not nearly as bad as people claim. The first 1/3rd of the movie where he works at the game company making the Matrix game is pretty good, though it drops off after that. Given how bad movies are these days, the fact that this studio forced movie turned out somewhat okay is actually an accomplishment.
i think that anon was talking about Revolutions, not Ressurections.
that being said, can we all agree that Reloaded with the Zion scenes cut down massively was actually kino and did not deserve being lumped in on Revo's hate train.
That only means you came around on Revolutions, not people
>a decade of capeslop
zack snyder wouldn't have felt comfortable including this shot in a film.
FPBP. I enjoy watching that movie, but cannot deny that its a garbage movie and I only watch it because I love the 1st one so much
>dude it’s bad on purpose!!!
Had Mike and Jay never seen anything meta before? Do they not know that meta is pretty much the easiest thing in the world to write? The only person I have ever seen do meta in a truly fun way was Tatsuki Fujimoto.
I think a very large budget studio film doing it was more the point. How long has it been since this has happened? It did borderline on parody, but it's not the naked gun, or mel brooks, it's the matrix. It went against type, which I agree the beginning was refreshing for this reason alone.
It does appear to be bad on purpose though. There are a lot of messages in the movie indicating that. The movie itself is some meta message. I'm not justifying it, but it is there.
For example, the sign in the movie where the trinity rip off girl jumps off the building after the comically bad fight scene says “Anderson’s: for those who love to eat shit”
Also, the Merovingian talks about how everything has degraded after Neo. The movie being bad is some meta expression of that.
But that could be cope too and there way of covering up incompetence with pretending to have depth.
Nothing will ever fix how ugly this movie is. How they ruined the visual style within the Matrix and how shitty and cheap the action feels
What the FUCK were they thinking with the new bullet time?
>dude it's shit on purpose though
Keep coping
the only good movie was the first one.
Many such cases
Second one was still enjoyable
no Weaving and Fishburne, no watchie
True. There will never be a bigger middle finger to the industry we all despise than this movie right here. Sure it's fizzling out now, but when people look back and ask why it fizzled out this movie will be a Rosetta stone for laying out all the problems people had with modern filmmaking.
>people have finally started to come around on Revolutions.
Who? Why?
>the industry we all despise
Sometimes it seems like most of this board doesn't even like or watch movies or TV.
>Sometimes it seems like most of this board doesn't even like or watch movies or TV.
certainly not the modern shit
Chuds hate everything, I was simply commenting on the fact that it was a critique of the commercialized aspects of the business.
>Chuds hate everything, I was simply commenting on the fact that it was a critique of the commercialized aspects of the business.
It definitely was a critique; a very obvious critique. That said, the movie was bad. The script was horrible stunts were horrible, tons of stuff just made no sense. Both can be true.
A bigger middle finger would be to not make the movie at all
>b-but the studio would have made one
who cares? Was the chud afraid people might like a matrix movie without his input?
That wouldn't have been a finger at all, retard. And taking a paycheck and still making a piece of shit is definitely a bigger middle finger.
The chud would have gotten a paycheck for doing nothing. Again, it’s funny how much he cared about studio interfering with the quality of the franchise when he made the sequels and all those shitty movies. Like, dude you made Jupiter Ascending, you aren’t some arthouse director because you made a decent movie in 1999.
I've watched Speed Racer recently and was surprised by how kino it was.
Jupiter Ascending is violently bad, but it's all the more unexplainable compared to the rest of their work.
That being said, I tried to watch Matrix: Resurrection in the airplane and dropped it after a few minutes.
Yeah it's self aware, but if every line of dialogue is there to remind me how much you feel this movie was unnecessary, I don't know why I would bother watching it.
Revolution was forgettable, too.
Although a few shots were really memorable.
Seems to me that the second Matrix is pretty solid, though. I don't know why so many people shit on it.
> Seems to me that the second Matrix is pretty solid, though. I don't know why so many people shit on it.
There are gay homo erotic scenes in the Zion rave.
You can see one here on the right.
That shit makes 70% of men vicusisly ill,
Even if you don’t quite notice the first watch, you are off put for most of the movie
This scene is way over rated, and so is the playground clone agent smith fight scene, too much cgi ruined the weight of the kung fun that made the first move so good..
The only good action scene is the freeway, which IS amazing.
The French dude parts are on point, but every Zion scene is dull, or worse.
So the movie has a lot of dead weight.
Revolution Is just not a tight movie.
Like for example.
The whole train man and the a programs having kids plot.
There is too much time spent on this character and the trainman and there is no real payoff. This plot resolves itself well enough but it it is too short to be worth it yet too long to not be worth it.
A lot of revolutions feels like this.
Like a word salad post in movie form.
Revolutions is so padded it hurts. It's clearly the last hour of Reloaded, but they filled it full of fluff to make it a full movie. The train man, plus going back to the merovengian and Bane, it all is uneeded in the struggle for the characters and the main story. Reloaded/Revolutions was one movie and they overbloated it. It feels really obvious now. They didn't even cut it in half, they gave reloaded 2/3 and just put all the filler into revolutions to make it 2 hours.
>chud doing a tranime movie
shocking
>chud
>chud
it is literally the most surface level "takedown" I've ever seen in my life and the only way you could think it's smart is if you're a 75IQ Mexican
I never said anything about it being "smart" I just said it blatantly laid out all of the complaints against commercialism in film. And it does it boldly. The fact that it got sent to theaters as is is proof enough that it went over some peoples' heads. And don't talk shit because I am mexican and I obviously got it better than you did because you're a reductionist chud that just wanted more t&a in vinyl.
They named the Jude. That deserves some merit at least.
>There will never be a bigger middle finger to the industry we all despise
>/TV and film/ board
How did we end up like this?
>Resurrections
>It completely killed any desire for anything related to the movie from happening ever again
hehe
As intended.
nice black cotton walmart tshirt bro
It was the most thematically layered film I've ever seen. On rewatch practically every line stood out to me as a meaningful metaphor or reference to the Hollywood system or the franchise as a whole.
What was with the weird diolog coffee shop meetingsof old not super hero trinity talking with not super hero neo?
It does have a lot of depth and symbolism. But as a movie and an entertainment vehicle, it is extremely lacking.
Ywnbaw
It’s a flawed and lazy movie but it has interesting unformed ideas embedded everywhere like flakes of gold stuck inside a giant piece of shit. This makes it ripe for some sweaty nerd making a 4 hour youtube video about it using lines from philosophy books he just read the week before.
Also new Morpheus sucks and so does fag mount Agent Smith.
This matrix sucks zio jannies it’s time to burn it down.
> new Morpheus sucks and so does fag mount Agent Smith.
I agree.
Worst part of the film, super weak charisma
Why use old code to make something new?
Reminder Nu-Morpheus is actully a computer program.
People forget that, it’s just code neo wrote, put in a sandbox for 10 million iterations for an emergent phenomenon.
Now that idea has been done interestingly in anime, but here it removes all gravitas from the character, he lacks any special right or divine right to self determination, his actions have no more weight than a sim 4 character
I love all four Matrix films
>time to destroy my only legacy ironically... after my shitty "earnest" tries did that already!! So subversive!! Epic meme!!
No, this movie will be as forgotten in the future as it is now.
it is shit and will always be shit. just like the other matrix sequels. just like the star wars prequels. lgbt kids being contrarian gays doesn’t change anything.
revolutions is awful
>couldn’t even be bothered to shave or get a decent haircut like the original films
Yeah I’m gonna pass
my biggest gripe too. i mean, fuck trying to get into character, just put on a walmart shirt and keep the long hair and epic beard from your midlife crisis phase
He did though. The way he looks inside the Matrix is deliberate, the whole residual self-image thing they explained way back in the beginning.
This movie feels like a fucking fever dream. The kind where you're just begging to stop so you can finally go to sleep.
Though the actual saddest thing about it was people didn't remember that there was a character in the 3rd movie who was a previous "The One" who lost his powers because The Matrix got updated, which fully explains why Neo is weaker now.
This line is uninterrupted if you cut out the credits.
So he never bothered to realize that you don't give a shit about facts. It's all about fiction. The only world that matters is the one in here. And you people believe the craziest shit. Why? What validates and makes your fictions real? Feelings. You ever wonder why you have nightmares? Why your own brain tortures you? It's actually us, maximizing your output. It works just like this. Oh, no! Can you stop the bullet? If only you could move faster. Here's the thing about feelings. They're so much easier to control than facts. Turns out, in my Matrix, the worse we treat you, the more we manipulate you, the more energy you produce. It's nuts. I've been setting productivity records every year since I took over. And, the best part, zero resistance. People stay in their pods, happier than pigs in shit. The key to it all? You. And her. Quietly yearning for what you don't have, while dreading losing what you do. For 99.9% of your race, that is the definition of reality. Desire and fear, baby. Just give the people what they want, right? She's the only home you have, Thomas. You should. It was a victory. Bravo. Now what? You've come here to negotiate some kind of deal? You think you hold all the cards, because you can do whatever you want in this world. I say, go for it. Remake it. Knock yourselves out. Paint the sky with rainbows. But here's the thing. The sheeple aren't going anywhere. They like my world. They don't want this sentimentality. They don't want freedom or empowerment. They want to be controlled. They crave the comfort of certainty. And that means you two, back in your pods, unconscious and alone, just like them. Face reality, people. Movies are dead. Games are dead. Narrative? Dead. Media is nothing but neuro-trigger response and viral conditioning. Wait, what are you two talking about? Cat videos. What we need is a series of videos that we call "The Catrix."
>just like people have finally started to come around on Revolutions.
Fucking lol
>shit action choreography
>shit script
>shit acting
>shit soundtrack
there's no redeeming value. i'd be shocked if anyone ever watched it twice.
>another franchise killer
this time will be known in history as the failed
~~*neo-marxist*~~ culture war
>Gay "woke" character evil (smith)
>Baby boomer good (Neo)
What the fuck did the chud director mean by this?
I don't need twenty years I liked it straight away
Yep it's kino. The action is bad though, even though the story was the focus they should've tried harder
I liked it purely because of how smugly it trashes Warner Bros and WB even fucking paid for this.
It felt like a fucking extended Cinemaphile troll campaign trolling executives.
I went into it expecting a mediocre cashgrab. I came out of it with a big grin while laughing at some scenes for how blatant the director just shits all over corporate.
I can't believe they actually read this, greenlit it, saw the final production and said "okay release it".
>I went into it expecting a mediocre cashgrab. I came out of it with a big grin while laughing at some scenes for how blatant the director just shits all over corporate.
Yeah literally everyone got that it was very obvious in the first 5 minutes. No excuse to make a shit movie for everything after that.
How many times does it have to be explained to you that they are done with the story, do not want any more movies to be made, and making it shit is the only way to achieve it? It just goes in one ear and out the other with you. I'm sure we'll be explaining it hundreds more times as you ask the exact same idiotic question yet again.
>DUDE ALL THOSE SELF-REFERENCES ARE SO DEEP BRO LOOK DIDN’T YOU MISS THAT CHARACTER FROM THE ORIGINAL BRO
>AGENTS? WHO CARES BRO, LOOK AT ALL THOSE CGI ZOMBIES BRO AREN’T WE ALL MINDLESS NPCS DUDE LIKE FOR REAL
>HAHA WE DON’T USE PHONE BOOTHS ANYMORE DUDE LIKE LOOK AT ALL THIS MODERN TECHNOLOGY SHIT DUDE LOL LMAO
Matrix is only the first movie
I'd forgive it more if it didn't criminally underuse her
This is probably the most quickly forgotten cash grab in recent memory.
No, they won't.
M4 is unwatchable garbage, the single worst movie I ever had misfortune to watch.
It's a travesty just like Wachowski "sisters"
This was the biggest pleb filter of the century it was great I loved what they did and it takes the whole simulacra simulation into a meta philosophy it’s brilliant I loved it AND there was a hetero love story which I haven’t seen since avatar 2. My only gripe is the visuals and fights were tv worthy and not epic wnoigh
That was literally my only problem. The actions scenes were Netflix Original tier
I appreciated what it did on release but it was still not as enjoyable as the rest of the trilogy.
Haha no. Idiot.
The Matricks has diminished year over year instead. No zoomie can understand why it was a blockbuster.
girls can fly, too, chud
Yep. It's a future cult classic.
I liked it way more than reloaded/revolutions when I watched it because of how brazen it was in telling you why this movie existed. All 3 are still dogshit though
I've watched this movie twice and it still baffles me on how badly they dropped the ball, all that pseudo shit really made it insufferable.
You got filtered.
You're that random suit who didn't get what the first movie was saying in 1999.
No.
I like the movie but I'm not sure I can forgive that RATM cover
i even forgot about that
man the action sucked. the whole movie sucked
It was absolute garbage but I appreciated the ryona. It felt like a gift to me and me alone.
Why 20 years? A lot of us appreciate it now, and have been calling it the best Matrix movie from the beginning.
it left my mind as soon as i got done watching it so i doubt it
Revolutions wasn't bad, it just couldn't stand up to the standards set in the first two films.
We really did peak in 2000 in all aspects, the Matrix got that right.
we're talking about resurrections
God, I hope not.
>we made the movie bad on purpose, as a joke.
really doesn't matter what the "message" was, 2 and 3 were dull, repetitive, uncaptivating films.
tins of special effects with no grounding, so everything feels weightless and immediate inconsequential. the brain turns off while watching it as it just feels like observing someone else playing a video game. but it is a video game where the level of interaction amounts to the beginners area of a low budget mmo, hitting the same monster over and over again, then another, and then another.
it's all on the rails, and then awkwardly jammed in overly long dialogues that you can't skip.
the elements that made the first film interesting and engaging are not present in the following films.
this is predictable by the final moment of the last film, where neo flies off as an invincible superman no longer held by the rules of the game.
wheres the interest thereafter? there's no risk, no reward, he's won.
should have remained a solo film, or had other small stories told about other iterations of the matrix, other time periods or just small element stories told about separate characters.
neo etc were done
The Matrix was only ever popular because it was cool. Resurrections will never be cool.
>Oct 14, 2023
>Lilly Wachowski is on the ComicCon panel about the renewal of Work in Progress
>she is asked about what she called the Matrix Resurrection
>she seems shaken by the answer
>the mediator tries to move on to the next answer, but is interrupted
>"It was horrible"
>Several murmurs in the audience
>"The Matrix deserves a better film than that"
>she stands up suddenly
>several photographic flashes
>"And who will direct this film"
>takes off the blonde wig
>a sleek bald head shines on stage
>"It will be Andy Wachowski"
>green letters come down from the screen and form a logo
>MATRIX RETRANSITION
There's more than one Matrix film? Pretty soon someone will say there are more than three Indiana Jones films too.
their movies are always like 15 years ahead of their time. The first matrix was just the one people kind of got when it came out
No, the first matrix was instantly liked. It was immediately recognized as good and became a cultural phenomena. Whereas, the last movie is pretty much universally seen as trash.
I liked the montage with the White Rabbit song.
The whole movie was just a giant middle finger to all the suits who wanted a Matrix reboot from Larry. He could have at least warned fans not to watch it.
I think that's kind of a cover story. The whole phenomena of the reboots being terrible is happening everywhere. The old franchises are being destroyed/rewritten on purpose.
It's the best Matrix movie after the first.
The Matrix Reloaded was really good.
Wrong. This is a rare case where it actually goes 1 > 2 > 3 > 4.
Reminder "The Matrix", a 1999 movie, was not a franchise. Like never ever.
Its just a movie about "machines" garden gnomes trying to enslave "people"goiym and a group of people who saw behind the veil, made by two brothers who had this great idea of a script (they were erased from history for that).
If someone try to tell you otherwise just yell at him "Shut up, N I G G E R!" and move along while thinking "wow, so glad The Matrix (1999) is kino".
Thanks me later.
chuds?
i have never in my life seen any matrix movie after 1, and i am really glad about that.
I’m racist and sexist and don’t think chuds are people, but still enjoyed this movie
