It was fine trying to downplay some of the stupid crap McDuffie had introduced, but yea, they shouldn't have gone as far as they did with the shit involving Kai
Most of the mcduffie-isms had already been retconned by the later seasons of UA or downplayed severely, so i dont think it was necessary. But the kai thing was just bad no matter how you slice it.
I feel like it MIGHT have worked if they actually took their time with it. Like Kai were reintroduced earlier and had time for her and Ben to actually build chemistry. As it was, it just felt very forced, not at all helped with Ken basically trying to force their situation in a few episodes when he was disguised as Spanner.
I feel the issue is that kai's personality just doesnt work well with OV ben, nor really AF ben either. She has an ego too but its not adressed, and fundamentally she's never shown as being anything more than shallow.
She'd only work if you wrote her with a different personality.
Eh, just tone down her abrasiveness, and she'd probably be fine. Problem was that she was pretty much still a full on b***h despite 6-7 going by, which should have seen some change in her attitude. What we got was basically Ben picking up right where he had left off in the original show, just with both of them as teens. And some b***hiness could have worked, had time been spent to really let the two get friendly instead of only showing them being caring as adults in the future.
It was fine trying to downplay some of the stupid crap McDuffie had introduced, but yea, they shouldn't have gone as far as they did with the shit involving Kai
Explain to me like I'm 5 because it's been years since I even watched Ben 10 and it was never religiously, what went wrong with this McDuffie guy?
He added a lot of changes that messed with parts of the lore, as well concepts that never went anywhere >Ben and Gwen's grandmother is an alien, making them both essentially part alien, but Ben can't quite tap into the power like Gwen can >Several kids introduced who were also hybrids, though Omniverse later retconned it into them being mutants created by a rogue Plumber who wanted to control Ben and the watch >AF began with Ben suffering damage that persisted even after his alien forms timed out. Never explained how or why this way, and was pretty much forgotten about by the end of the show's first season >Vilgax was literally a Darkseid/Thanos clone
Oh that andonite magic retcon, okay that's all I needed to hear frick that homosexual.

I was more annoyed the shit with Vilgax. Originally, he was something like Freeza, but without the posh attitude, just this really powerful motherfricker who wanted to dominate the universe. AUF instead made him into this weird DC villain knockoff who was apparently "beloved" by his own people, despite numerous mentions from the original series implying he was greatly disliked by his own kind. And the guy who voiced him was just crap compared to Blum.

I never watched enough AF to know, it was so dark and bland to me, especially coming off the back of the original.

It did brighten up after the DNAlien bullshit, like literally, they started to give the show more color and even had way more daytime episodes after that. Though it definitely stumbled since you had things like Ben suddenly 180ing back to being a bratty douche after ONE big victory, when he spent much of the Highbreed invasion storyline acting very mature. And then there's all the stuff with the ultimate aliens, which was the most toyetic nonsense of the original continuity, only rivaled by all the gimmicks that the reboot has been doing like the armors and fusions.

CN wanted the show to change to be more like OS, which honestly just made no one happy with AF season 3. No OS fan liked it, and no fan of the first two seasons liked it. By UA there was more of a groove, and the ult aliens were a stupid-cool idea

I wouldn't minded Ben becoming wienery again had it been more subtle as opposed to just full moron, especially since they had similar moments in OV that felt like the writers were trying to sabotage his character with how blatantly stupid he acted in some cases, such as the breakup with Julie.

>such as the breakup with Julie.
I read up on that earlier when checking out why they brought back indian furry girl and I am disgusted at everyone who let that get aired. What petty fricking melodrama.

Seriously. A misunderstanding is one thing, that whole "exchange" was fricking cringe, and I tend to hate using that word given how memed it is.
OS never really made many definitive statement about that, it was mostly supplementary material, but that only compared him to a pirate of sorts. Myax is just offended that she was compared to him, never really makes the comment that her people hate him.
Iirc he took over the planet in the 5 year gap. OV presents him as him being liked, at least enough that him being alive makes his people want to fight the incurseans.
[...]
In general both shows went too far with ben seeming brain-damaged, and regressing at random despite there being a continuity between episodes.
The breakup with Julie was just so dumb.
Still, it just felt out of place with his character given how he was shown to just wander the universe in pursuit of whatever interested him, and did it all with his own power, not ripoff eye beams and stealing powers like he's about to go Skrull.
As for Ben being stupid, I'd say Omniverse at least kind of justified it by acting like UAF happened, but implying he hadn't changed much after the original series, as opposed to what we actually saw where he had changed, then regressed because the network and writers were morons.
I honestly feel that AF got worst after it’s first season bc of them relying on vilgax so much as the main antagonist. But even then, it was way better than UA. That show has the most inconsistent writing that I’ve ever seen.
In some ways, yes, and in others, it was an improvement. It's really a mixed bag.

Nah totally get it, i just think that in theory it would have been great for a mirror to ben. Dont disagree. Although i do get the extra powers. Ben by that point had gotten very OP.
Well OV was supposed to be a direct sequel to UA/AF so you cant really use that argument just like AF couldnt use the argument that the events of OS happened in broad strokes. And ben was pretty annoying in both, except for like a few episodes where he's actually likeable.

Yea, but OV basically glosses over AF/UA to the point that some people could probably skip them and not be at too much of a loss if they were new to the franchise. The original continuity is a mess after the original show given all the stuff that was changed, retconned, and then either restored or tweaked

Well there's a lot of callbacks, some very direct. And a lot of the AF/UA aliens are still used. It makes sense since the carryover writers wise was from that era of the franchise.
Honestly prepared me to get into comics.

Vilgax was only brought in the 3rd season, and id disagree i guess. AF season 3 was defintely worse than UA.
I like AF and UA, but a lot of people dislike how he tied everything to aliens. Like gwen's powers and th elike.
Eh, just tone down her abrasiveness, and she'd probably be fine. Problem was that she was pretty much still a full on b***h despite 6-7 going by, which should have seen some change in her attitude. Eh, maaybe. But all she is is b***hiness. But ii suppose.

Vilgax was defintely not handled the best, but i do like the idea of him being liked by his people ala Doom, the issue is that he just comes off as incompentent, which i feel comes from him just appearing far far more regularly.
If they had maybe implied that before, I suppose. But as far as I recall, Myaxx made it clear that Vilgax was greatly disliked by just about everyone. Then you get to AF/UA, and apparently Vilgax is just in charge of his world and everyone adores him, which I guess wasn't everlasting since they immediately turn against him when returns in Omniverse.

Staring at this fanart makes me want to almost commit suicide because another catratophic economic crisis is upon us which will make 2008 look like the miniature Corona crash.
BUT THEN LUCKILY i remember Monkey Kid, Green Eggs n Ham and Legend od the Three Caballeros was made in 2015 and 2020.
I always like the idea of a main character with the show's selling gimmick having a supporting cast that have equal or possibly stronger powers/gimmicks. Thats why everyone liked the new gen plumbers from AF.
Apprently they just didn't care that the multiverse is a thing in Ben 10 and that future wasn't nessicarly the one Ben would end up in,.
Also, Kai is pretty much just a gold digger who only cares about ben's alien forms, she'd probably divorce him if he ever lost the Omnitrix for good, or ditch their kid if he died
I dunno, OS set a fundamentally poor fundation for it. I did like one fan idea which was that she would join the forever knigts, for a "dating catwoman" sort of thing.
I honestly didn't like the name changes to the original horror monster aliens. As lazy as they were, for some reason Benwolf, Benmummy and Benvictor had a nice ring to them, the newer ones sound too a bit too forced and "toyetic" in my opinion. I'm probably the only one with this opinion though.

Yes, I've always thought this exact same thing!
Wow, this is one of rare times I find Julie cute. The Ship choker is a nice touch.
Who is this cutie?
That's Julie Yamamoto. Ben 10's girlfriend in Alien Force/Ultimate Alien.

that's kino, upgrade is my favorite alien. galvanic mecamorphs are coolest species
cute.
Question is, does she clamp up harder then Gwen or is she more of or less a dead fish.
>"clamp up"
damn dude, I haven't heard that one in a while.
I wish she looked like that.
Perhaps
God.
Why did they change her, she was perfect...

What a cute design. It's a shame the OV team had zero interest in the character and wrote her off so unceremoniously.
I had no idea there was ever fanart of this character before.
Can ship make her boobs bigger?
How big?
That's a great size, got more?
Only this
That's a much better Gwen than whatever the frick CN have been trying to peddle for years.
Kino, many thanks.
Your welcome
In general more of best ben 10 girl is appreciated.
Hot
This Ben has the wienery energy of someone who knows he can beat Hal.
Like this or more
That;s good.
They should kiss
God Alien Force designs are disgustingly plain. Soulless. 0 charm
Does anyone have quality lewds of her?
For what?
My folder.
Without 10 year old gwen pls.
Your right too old.
Too young
She just female Ben
And asian.
And with black hair.
In general simplistic art styles are going to make either everyone look very similar or so cartoonishly different they seem like different species.
>neck width smaller
>bigger eyes
>longer eyelashes
>smaller nose
>smaller mouth
>slim eyebrows
>feminine jaw
>GUYS WOMEN ARE JUST FEMININE MEN
There's less difference between men and women than dogs and wolves, they're practically identical

BUT THEN LUCKILY i remember Monkey Kid, Green Eggs n Ham and Legend od the Three Caballeros was made in 2015 and 2020.
No, Gwen is.
Also changed the eye brows but whatever.
Why are cartoon asians consistently the most attractive?
as brief as it was I liked her omniverse look
I prefer the fan haircut, the OV one was too long.
And it removed the relationship afte rall.
Same
meanwhile in a universe with competent writers
I wish we lived there
Big Julie is best Julie.
Writers did her dirty
Very
10 year old Julie?
Yep
We are venom
I always like the idea of a main character with the show's selling gimmick having a supporting cast that have equal or possibly stronger powers/gimmicks. Thats why everyone liked the new gen plumbers from AF.
It was smart how they had powers from preceding aliens mostly, same with julie having ship
So why did Ben randomly end up with that Navajo b***h again?
The writers really wanted ben 10.000's og episode to be the actual future, but also said it was a different timeline at the same time.
She won the Benbowl in the original cartoon and the writers never let that go.
>She won the Benbowl in the original cartoon
Wasn't she only in like two episodes?
Does he mention they're married or something?
Ken in ken 10 has skin that is the same shade as kai, and the popups said he was her son.
That's pretty fricking gay.
Because Ken 10 was brown and Omniverse wanted to pander to classic fans.
>and Omniverse wanted to pander to classic fans.
Then they would have gone for the incest ending.
Anyone other than Kai would have been better, even a fricking background character that shows up for only a few seconds.
All this depended on good writing
I dunno, OS set a fundamentally poor fundation for it. I did like one fan idea which was that she would join the forever knigts, for a "dating catwoman" sort of thing.

Yes, I've always thought this exact same thing!
He married with fricking furry
Is she wearing Upgrade?
