Without the squishes Sette promised I'm not sure they have too much of a chance against whatever's waiting for them inside that building.

I like that Jacaranda's non-super saiyan form matches with Sette's normal colored tail so it looks like they make one unit like the misdirect with cooler Sette during his intro.

Ash did say something like Lem's reasons for what he did will be revealed by the end of the chapter, so I feel like that's only relevant of Duane is still "alive".

Sette seems to think she genuinely, permanently killed Duane just now.

Sette hasn't forgotten that a massacre and a khert fire are both happening outside and her friends are all in danger. Big points to Sette for focusing on the big picture in spite of everything.

        Anonymous

Time is linear for Sette, even in the khert. Wherever they're going its pretty unlikely that Sette is going to "find some squishes" and get back to Jivi and Quiggles in time to actually help. And she probably knows it too.

So she thinks she murdered Duane, and she knows she's going to be too late to help rescue Matty. She's going to end up with Duane level sads.

I've gotta be honest, we got through that entire scene with Sette and Jacaranda and Tirna? and I didn't understand a fricking thing of it. I assume Cope is going to explain it all eventually but for now I'm just kind of nodding along.

I know they're heading towards one of tittybird's nests, but she's not going to be there to explain anything. Maybe Sette the Hedgehog will stop being 100% id for a few minutes and share what she knows.

        >Sette the Hedgehog being 100% id

You know, the more I think about it, the more this seems true. Sette the hedgehog is all id. Our Sette wishes she was, wishes it was all instinct and action, but she's not. She's dominated by the super ego, and when push comes to shove she is driven by (good) morals unbefitting a fart-sniffing crimelord gang boss. And she has been for the entire story.

I don't think it's done any screaming at all yet. Just weird poetry. Arguably worse.

              Anonymous

Nah, when Sette was freaking out it was obviously contributing to her stress and distraction, flapping around her face, getting in her way and causing her to act in a way very contrary to our Sette. Acting more like Sette the Hedgehog actually, which is probably related to the "SHE'S NOT YOURS SHE'S MINE!" thing.

I didn't say it was helping, I just said it wasn't screaming. But I'm not sure I buy the suggestion that the bird is to blame for how Sette's been acting. She's been through a shitload and hasn't handled her emotions well historically to boot. Plus, narratively, it'd be pretty fricking lame to be lamenting over killing Duane and then "nah it's totally fine it was just some weird bird did that."

                >I don't think it's done any screaming at all yet
Mouth wide open, overlapping speech bubbles. Pretty sure when Sette was doing that uncharacteristic screaming that the bird was doing it too.

Seems like just Sette flipping out to me. The panel you posted is slightly more ambiguous.

Because being manipulated into doing something and doing something of your own accord are obviously not treated with the same level of responsibility, bro. Muddying the waters and undermining Sette's self-reflection with that would be lame.

Can you stop pretending to being autistic about exact word definitions and actually look at what’s being communicated? You talking like one of those people that throws a fit when someone says literally.

That doesn’t mean it can’t be shown screaming at the same time as Sette using a single speech bubble for artistic effect. For all we know, the non-bubbled text is specifically for that poem alone.
