Because Jaca isn't human, but lion. It seems whoever this man was, he desired that humans and lions should live and grow through eternity... together.
I'm referring to the first soul bit not the species. Jaca should have his own bird. But I guess the biggest mystery is why they made the soul annoying?
I love how Sette STILL keeps trying to tell Ilganyag off. I wonder if at the end of this big speech/story she's just gonna give Tittybird the finger and tell her to shove it. She doesn't seem overly impressed so far.

>mind and soul separate
How exactly did they frick this up? According to last page the Khert wasn't collecting memories so not only did they add the feature, they also created the problem of the soul and mind not going together. As well as the memories for everyone besides Khette getting broken into a million pieces.
I suspect that with the old (original) khert, memories just completely vanished into the ether. Gone. Dissolved.
The mechanic they created to try and make mind and soul stay together probably first required them to prevent mind and soul from disappearing altogether. They probably did that as a first step. First, make sure the khert actually captures and preserves this stuff. Then figure out how to stop it from coming apart in the first place.
Problem is, seems like they never succeeded in actually reaching that step.
>I created the first soul >It's programmed to die at age 12 and won't let the body or mind grow beyond this should it somehow surrvive >a thousand years later we still haven't patched this out

Not programmed to die-- instead, there's some tradition in place where they kill it on purpose. They don't die of natural causes.
The cruelty makes the soul easier to identify upon entering the khert, possibly for experimentation purposes. Comparatively very few children are getting killed this way outside of geffie twin sacrifice.

Good catch, which could be another reason why Sette and Jac do not age or change after a certain biological age. At 10-12 their senet beast unaging ability kicks in. Rather than having an internal khert, Sette and Jac are attuned to the general one. Honestly it's crazy that tittybird could survive a betrayal of that magnitude. well the real question is how the frick did a human exist after death in the first place. I do remember the story of Ssael being told by Tirna how to defeat death. >now they shared her face >now
If anything this image feels like it's trying to say humans were once lions, but only looked like Ilganyag after this guy's tampering.
But the depiction of this guy in the khert certainly looks human-like.
Interesting how the first instance of Sette doesn’t have her tail and Jac does have a tail.
Is this just their idealized forms in her story, or were they really first born that way and something else kicked off the mix up?
At first I thought it was her tail and that it was just coming behind Jac, but I'm looking more and more carefully again... and it's not coming from her. What the shit!
Make perfect little human girl and perfect little lion boy.
Dominate Khert kids are human girl with animal features and Lion with human features.
I think those two shown in the flashback might be lies.
>frick things up >hmmm what if I change one thing, that might fix this >frick things up more >oh frick let me change one more thing >mistakes keep piling up
Truly a story of relatable hubris.
If they are all mixed up physically, then perhaps soul bird is an amalgamation of Sette and Jacaranda's soul. In that case, Jacaranda could have more to do with the memory side.
Maybe Khette's appearance gets patched over time to reflect changes in the new Sette's body? With this new lore Khette shouldn't exist anyway as she and Sette should be only one soul. Or is Khette just a walking collection of memories without a soul? Most likely it's bird lies as
Maybe some features grew in later like Sette's pointy teeth? Or maybe it's more of the bird's LIES.
I was looking through the site’s miscellany and there is one piece of art titled “Pirate and Tree” depicting some RP character and Murkoph, and Ashley says with it: >*enjoys making references no one understands*
Made me think of Shaensigin’s speech a few chapters back. Is Murkoph the “Tree”?
Tree'd fit a wandering root so that's my guess. Given the almost complete narrative blank that is Murkoph's past though I would not even blink if he was somehow a wandering root that got shoved into a silver boyfriend.
Where are all the other Settes and Jac ghosts? Did that guy do something to them? Tittybird mentioned runaways, does she lock them all in a basement somewhere?
Which now begs the question, what's changed? Was she just waiting to find someone as smart enough to create a Duane or is there something more going on? And why set up the linuxkhert RFH nuke to take out Alderode?
Years ago I called that Duane was a prototype for whatever Sette is.
Granted I wasn't sure what either of them were but it was clear that Bastion was trying to make something like Sette.
I don't mean Bastion made Sette, I mean Duane was meant to be a prototype for Bastion's attempts at making the kind of idealized being Sette is.
Bastion's whole MO is wanting to rid the world of death, He is aware of Sette to some extent and presumably her immortality/unaging nature and wanted to reverse engineer that with Duane being his first attempt.
>mystery man makes some kind of soul thing that can reincarnate but does not keep its mind after death >Duane guesses that he does his thinking out of his soul now
I'm shooting my longshot guess that it's the other way around
Sette >Body and soul, but no memories of her past lives
Duane >Has a soul that can wander the khert and memories of his past, but no new body (that's why he keeps his old one)
Murkoph >Immortal, regenerating body and memories, but no soul (which is why he's a c**t)
k
If this is the soul then what is the thing in other humans that leaves their bodies when their heart stops, allows them to hear, and anchors Duane to his body?
They must have done something to normal human's souls as well, if Ilganyag tells the truth and the khert did not record memories before their meddling.
I don’t quite get how it being a soul relates to the situation.
I mean, surely that mass of blood, pain, and first silver doesn’t need a soul so it can be a real boy now, right?
It sounds like if you could stick the soul in the silver (minus the eels), you'd get a brand new metal baby Sette. Can't imagine the utility of that so my guess is she needs it to get the hell out of the khert but no idea why.
Just re-read it from the beginning once it's done, it'll be a lot clearer. I'm a brainlet too and the main thing making it hard to keep up for me is that it's one story spread out over a decade of single-page releases. Reading the whole thing as one story makes it a lot less confusing since shit gets solved within a reasonable timeframe instead of having to wait months for a reveal and you don't need to memorize shit that happened years ago.
Because the mistake we made line made think he was part of this whole process in some way. Hard to figure shit when our sources are paper god beliefs and the most unreliable narrator in history.
is any indication, Ssael eventually left development of Yandere simulator after realizing his code was incomprehensible to him. I'm no programmer, so I don't know what they do when confronted with that futility
Website comment: >Storytime continues. The thing really is dinky and derpy and not majestic looking enough. Trade-in value is probably through the floor. Dark Sette still really, really wants it tho.

Patreon comment: >There we go, hair bird is the First Soul. I don't think it'll swell Sette's ego too much, she doesn't really like it, and most of the side effects it's saddled her with all her life have been a bother.
>"Soul" is such a fuzzy word and I think it's going to confuse people. Basically, everything in the world has a khert soul. It's their personal section of the khert that defines their Aspects, their identity, enables them to function in the world.
>What the Man wanted was the Gefendur religious idea of a soul, one that enables reincarnation and promises the return of all of ones memories one day. He wanted the gods, he wanted eternity, he wanted rewards, and his idea of hope.
>That's what he had in mind when he and Sessine created this "First Soul." He didn't want the cold functionality of the khert; he wanted story, meaning, hope, and transcendence.
>It's kinda uh, unexpected, that Sette Frummagem wound up the final current living embodiment of all of uh, that.
The man was Gefendur, was looking for Gods, and seems to have been familiar with the practice of human sacrifices. So it seems safe to assume the story of Tirna already existed. We haven't been shown where that story came from and it might never be made clear
I didn’t get the joke at the time, but at end of the Port Moresby chapter they’re literally saved by a ghost… Who for discretions’ sake was hiding in a machine.
Point being, if everyone is executing their best day, they don’t need sette ex machina.
>He didn't want the cold functionality of the khert
In the world beyond, blackened ichor filled a crumbling sky, as soul withered away to nothing.
BUT
I

FADE
>We want to create a human with a soul that'll send them to be reincarnated and keep the memories of all their past lives within them >Also, we're going to give them claws to rip off the memories that we're going out of our way to stockpile
Why?
Imagine being stuck with a perfect recollection of all the worst moments of infinite lifetimes. I'd want a way to lobotomize myself as well in that scenario.
memories in the khert get all clumped together and weird and gigantic
keep em tiny and manageable with the debug tool until we can finally get that one off the known issues list
I kinda get what you mean but Sette's always been one of the most unique people in the setting, it's just that now we're finding out why she is that way and why it matters. Her true backstory was never ever going to be something as mundane as the one she told everyone.
>it's just that now we're finding out why she is that way and why it matters.
and it's underwhelming. feels like Naruto going from the chapter 1 outcast to the final war son of god in a matter of a chapter.
Dude, I don't even like this stuff and I have to hard disagree with that. It is NOWHERE near that bad. We've had ten years of build up that she's important and mystical. It's just. I don't CARE that she's important and mystical. I like her and Duane adventuring together =(
there's a difference between being special and being fricking Eve. That's the shit I hate about most mangas, they lack restraints, and this is going the same way
I don't think this gives her that much importance beyond what we already knew (the fact that she can control memories.)
Like, Duane is the first person who can live after death. Sette is the first person who reincarnated. But does that make her the chosen one? Not really, she's just a science experiment like Duane at the end of the day. If anything Duane seems to be more of a successful experiment.
Calling her the first human and whatnot is just Lady I's prejudiced opinion.
I get it, I knew some readers would hate this bit. It's really a moment for the world-building and lore fans, one that character drama fans just kind of have to grit their teeth and get through. It'll be over after next week, and I promise Sette isn't going to become some kind of obnoxious OP God (any more than she is). In fact this scene ends with quite the opposite result.
It's probably sloppy and could have been done better, but what can you expect from some free to read internet comic 😉

Yeah. God I love the character drama. Sette's reaction to Duane telling her he loves her and his realization that he does was just one of the most wonderful moments ever.

Don't listen to them Ashley, its proof enough that these are the longest lasting and most active Unsounded threads on Cinemaphile in a long time as people ravenously dissect these pages to try and puzzle it out.
Also, hairy men good. As usual you are a woman after my own heart.
I do think we're in a dangerous section of the story, though. Deeply personally meaningful childhood OCs are something that often give mature stories indigestion. But if anyone can handle it, it's Ashley.
This twist is no where near as cool as it could be because all this mystical mumbo-jumbo is made up and boring. I want people interacting with each other =/.
Some people are probably hard over this but I honestly couldn't give a shit. Like, her being called the "only real human" is legit stupid.
This is going to sound crazy but what if this is actually post-Ssael. We don't know the full extent of Northsongs' factuality and if people before Ssael and the Man we're saying the khert is golden there's no reason Ssael wouldn't be lying too. Since Ssael was mauled by lions there's clearly tension between them; hence necessitating the lion element in Jac and Sette as a show of good faith.
>Sort of. She’s an agib - a type of senet beast - and they are very, very strange.
Wuuut, I was just going to ask about this, ash finally confirmed Sessine to be an agib, but why the frick she doesn't look like the other agibs we have seen?
It would be hack writing for the Man to be some guy we've never heard of before. Ashley is not a hack.
She's edging as to call this man ssael, despite everything pointing to the fact it is ssael, which (along other things, like the guy being a-ok with twin sacrifice) honestly makes me think it ain't ssael
To be fair, we have to account for the fact that we're update readers who stew on these pages for 2+ days when they come out, and spend the days after uneventful pages theorizing about and discussing past plot beats and lore. For an archival reader, the realization of "hey, the Man is probably Ssael" would occur at maximum a few minutes before the confirmation (assuming he is Ssael). To them, it wouldn't be so much edging as it would be the beginning of the orgasm
I get it, but it feels like a red herring now. >everything points out to this guy being ssael >reading back to scenes like:
Because the mistake we made line made think he was part of this whole process in some way. Hard to figure shit when our sources are paper god beliefs and the most unreliable narrator in history.
A man with the appetite of a lion.
Depicted as a lion in Inak imagery.
>Make it more obvious even >yet WoG is going full "who said this guy is Ssael"?
I don't have time for your 4d chess games cope
I still think the related pages make it sound like a more ancient happening (before recorded history) than we know Ssael is (supposed to be), but that's just my reading of it.
I guess one thing that I would want to check if I were a Kasslyne scholar is look into records of smoke eels. They shouldn't exist before Ssael if it were him.
Anyone wondering WHY this random guy was deposited, whole and intact, in the khert - which had no other (admitted) residents besides Sessine? She says she was imprisoned with him, which seems to imply the dude was also deliberately put there. How? And by whom?
We'll proabably get to that in the future. The act seems extreme and we've never heard of anyone else going into the khert. Ashley seems to be firmly in the antihuman soul category.
So the First Soul half works, as it always makes a Sette look like a Sette, and Sessine says it is preserving their memories, so where are those memories?
The main problem is that the Soul detaches after death and makes a new blank slate Sette each time, and creating a pile of former Settes cluttering the Khert, right? But why are the memories unavailable to each new one if the soul is present? Are these separate issues?
Seems like the former Settes are the memories. The soul preserves them from death and keeps them together but doesn't hold on to them after it reincarnates.
Seems like the former Settes are the memories. The soul preserves them from death and keeps them together but doesn't hold on to them after it reincarnates.
The Unsounded afterlife is truly hell, and Sette is living it.
Well only for one person since everyone else just explodes into good and bad memories. If she was created when ssael was alive. Then there must be hundreds of settes if they all die at 12.
Assuming they reincarnate with little delay, in chronological order. The Khert is supposed to be timeless - but this scene has me wondering if that's even true.
I don't know it works for khettes but birdbreasts duane and sette still navigate from the experience of their linear time. It seems like before the Man and bird were thrown into the khert the khert wasn't even a storage for memories just an empty gray area.
If Settes reincarnate without delay then Sette (and Jac) would be more familiar to Kasslyne rather than everyone being surprised at seeing her tail, teeth, etc. She's too unique; there's something going on here.
Hey on this note, did we ever get confirmation from Ashley about whether Duane "hearing Ssael" when he was alive was truly a voice from beyond or it was the result of slight brain damage?
Someone give this anon his prize
Also how can she be first if Jaca is always first born?
>Also how can she be first if Jaca is always first born?
Because Jaca isn't human, but lion. It seems whoever this man was, he desired that humans and lions should live and grow through eternity... together.
I'm referring to the first soul bit not the species. Jaca should have his own bird. But I guess the biggest mystery is why they made the soul annoying?
It doesn't seem as if Jacaranda has a bird. We've only seen Sette's.
Then again... remember that this story is being told with Sette as the intended audience. A little bit of flattery woven in.
>I guess the biggest mystery is why they made the soul annoying?
Because it's not working properly.
>She is incomplete, and she never worked as intended.
black tongue frickery I imagine. It was a black tongue what assisted sette's mum giving birth
Sette and Duane are pretty simular than? Except Duanes soul keeps the memories and the body is just his vessal?
The First Soul!?
I didn’t realise was a soulslike but perhaps I should of with the lore, good art and grimness.
Since Sette has only one soul, then Khette's existence is a case of multiple personality disorder.
I love how Sette STILL keeps trying to tell Ilganyag off. I wonder if at the end of this big speech/story she's just gonna give Tittybird the finger and tell her to shove it. She doesn't seem overly impressed so far.
Based Sette has lived in Sharteshane with Nary long enough not to get taken in so easily.

Yeah suuurrrrree
>I love how Sette STILL keeps trying to tell Ilganyag off.
As she should. Frick bird breasts.
"Child of the King".
I don't think she's talking about Ssael. My suspicion is sliding over towards Rortide right now.
King Rortide was a lion? I dunno, I'm throwing shit at the wall.
I think it's just that they depict Ssael as a lion for his appetite, just as they depict humans as spiders.
He has the Ssael face marks.
>mind and soul separate

And don't forget:
>make the act of killing as cruel as possible
The cruelty is important.
Was the cruelty so important to him, or is tittybird just repeating it until we believe her? She's rather insistent about it
Don't worry about it, I'm sure it is fine.
>it is fine
As fine as the history breastsbird has with Ruck, I suppose?
The cruelty makes the soul easier to identify upon entering the khert, possibly for experimentation purposes. Comparatively very few children are getting killed this way outside of geffie twin sacrifice.
Recall that Ssael was explicitly against twin sacrifice.

Until Duane, right?
This is why Bastion is Lady Ilganyag's favorite
That'll be Murkoph.
Murkboy is just the Man getting too impatient and trying to reincarnate himself so he could tell people the truth, accidentally becoming insane, immortal, and a believer in his own fake religion.

So Sette is some kind of prototype...

Alright, but something still ain't clicking.
Why lions? Why are lions involved in this at all?
Not!Protestant man autism.
Why wouldn't they be? Lions are people too.
Let me ask it a different way. Why is giving a girl a tail and a lion a bare butt a necessary component to this whole experiment?
Well based on that top panel where the tail might actually be connected to the correct butt it might not've been at first.
Because Jacaranda and Sette's real other parent is a lion. This is not necessary but a byproduct of conception/creation which can't be tweaked as the soul shapes the body.
Ashley's never shied away from drawing junk before. What's going on with ssael/etalarche/rortide? Did he chop it off during his weird pube ritual?
Because patreon would nuke her account if genitals were anywhere near children.
True, but is unfortunate that only the monsters can have penises (so many), and a father and his daughter(s) can not.
Hanging dong in front of the ghost of children past would probably not go over well. To think we almost got dick swinging Murk chasing Sette all those years ago.
That'd explain why he had to go frick around in the afterlife with a triple fitted chicken to have kids instead of marrying his church sweetheart like a normal person

Inak khert souls are incomplete, and can be patched with memories to approximate human khert souls and allow for pymary.
First soul has the head of an inak in addition to wings.
Something was taken from the inak and given to man.
Inak claim to once have been gods too, likely meaning they were senet beasts, unaging and immortal.
Did the betrayer bird harvest something fro the proto-inak, to create souls?
Good catch, which could be another reason why Sette and Jac do not age or change after a certain biological age. At 10-12 their senet beast unaging ability kicks in. Rather than having an internal khert, Sette and Jac are attuned to the general one.
Honestly it's crazy that tittybird could survive a betrayal of that magnitude. Every sentient senet beast back then must have been shocked to the core.
Delicieu said there was no evidence of Inak souls being incomplete, only that there was space for expanding

I think that's referring to how spiderpaws are a product ov evolution, and that tittybird guided human evolution to resemble her.
Whiule the inak as former gods are older than humans and not a product of evolution.
>I think that's referring to how spiderpaws are a product ov evolution
Yeah it's mentioned how humans originally crawled from the sea.
Something something, our sacred ground, their filthy ocean, something something.
Well he's got no beans so he's probably not a lion. Unless that's just a weirdness of Jacaranda specifically, for some reason.
Ashley's just into body hair right now

Ash has Patrician taste, and every now and again she adds a little treat for those who like the somewhat niche.

It's not a bug, but a feature. All other humans were cheated out of a charming tail and razor sharp teeth.
Make perfect little human girl and perfect little lion boy.
Dominate Khert kids are human girl with animal features and Lion with human features.
I think those two shown in the flashback might be lies.
Holy moly lore revelations.
>frick things up
>hmmm what if I change one thing, that might fix this
>frick things up more
>oh frick let me change one more thing
>mistakes keep piling up
Truly a story of relatable hubris.
His mistake was not continuing to frick up until it eventually worked. That's how you code, in my experience.
If they are all mixed up physically, then perhaps soul bird is an amalgamation of Sette and Jacaranda's soul. In that case, Jacaranda could have more to do with the memory side.
Didn't Khette get called the first born a bit ago? She has a tail
Maybe some features grew in later like Sette's pointy teeth? Or maybe it's more of the bird's LIES.
Maybe Khette's appearance gets patched over time to reflect changes in the new Sette's body? With this new lore Khette shouldn't exist anyway as she and Sette should be only one soul. Or is Khette just a walking collection of memories without a soul? Most likely it's bird lies as
says.
Khette is just a memory, a result of the "soul" and mind splitting.
Y'know, if my understanding of this is correct, then the Man didn't find any dissatisfied dead in the khert... he CREATED the dissatisfied dead.
it's been a while since I was on co, tf happened to the IP count ?
It's gone, Ash, it's gone
OMG how do you know my name (;ꏿ_ꏿ;)
meant for
Ashley detector score!
it's not Ashley but the first 3 letters are def Ash idk how this guy knew that (ʘᗩʘ’)
At this point I feel like I am on the cusp of some maddening revelation and completely lost at the same time
Welcome to Cope's wild ride
I was looking through the site’s miscellany and there is one piece of art titled “Pirate and Tree” depicting some RP character and Murkoph, and Ashley says with it:
>*enjoys making references no one understands*
Made me think of Shaensigin’s speech a few chapters back. Is Murkoph the “Tree”?
Tree'd fit a wandering root so that's my guess. Given the almost complete narrative blank that is Murkoph's past though I would not even blink if he was somehow a wandering root that got shoved into a silver boyfriend.
The tree is some wandering root. The fish is probably Lord Cage, the typhoon whale, the bird is of course tittybird.
Anon he did the sette job first. Our litch boy has only been dead for like 4 years
I don't mean Bastion made Sette, I mean Duane was meant to be a prototype for Bastion's attempts at making the kind of idealized being Sette is.
Bastion's whole MO is wanting to rid the world of death, He is aware of Sette to some extent and presumably her immortality/unaging nature and wanted to reverse engineer that with Duane being his first attempt.
I'm 99% sure he was involved with settes birth this incarnation given what we know
>mystery man makes some kind of soul thing that can reincarnate but does not keep its mind after death
>Duane guesses that he does his thinking out of his soul now
I'm shooting my longshot guess that it's the other way around
>Our litch boy has only been dead for like 4 years
7, in fact.
Sette
>Body and soul, but no memories of her past lives
Duane
>Has a soul that can wander the khert and memories of his past, but no new body (that's why he keeps his old one)
Murkoph
>Immortal, regenerating body and memories, but no soul (which is why he's a c**t)
k
right, and I forget, xemnas is a nobody?
Why do I feel like Ilganyag is saying all this flattering, soothing stuff with a skinning knife hidden behind her back lol.
"Keep walking this way, brave, darling Sette. Only a little further, now..."
If this is the soul then what is the thing in other humans that leaves their bodies when their heart stops, allows them to hear, and anchors Duane to his body?
The same kind of soul that inak also have, a piece of the khert to manage the body's definition
Ash already confirmed a theory I posted a few threads ago.
>me trying to read Unsounded with a double digit IQ
Just re-read it from the beginning once it's done, it'll be a lot clearer. I'm a brainlet too and the main thing making it hard to keep up for me is that it's one story spread out over a decade of single-page releases. Reading the whole thing as one story makes it a lot less confusing since shit gets solved within a reasonable timeframe instead of having to wait months for a reveal and you don't need to memorize shit that happened years ago.
Are you convinced that the Man is Ssael and not Murkoph?
Because I think the bird is taking our Sette to meet her father.
Well if
is any indication, Ssael eventually left development of Yandere simulator after realizing his code was incomprehensible to him. I'm no programmer, so I don't know what they do when confronted with that futility
Website comment:
>Storytime continues. The thing really is dinky and derpy and not majestic looking enough. Trade-in value is probably through the floor. Dark Sette still really, really wants it tho.

Patreon comment:
>There we go, hair bird is the First Soul.
Wait if mystery man is a Gefey does that mean all the Tirna shit or at least what inspired it already happened?
The man was Gefendur, was looking for Gods, and seems to have been familiar with the practice of human sacrifices. So it seems safe to assume the story of Tirna already existed. We haven't been shown where that story came from and it might never be made clear
imagine how much abuse Mattie has suffered from during that whole exposition
I didn’t get the joke at the time, but at end of the Port Moresby chapter they’re literally saved by a ghost… Who for discretions’ sake was hiding in a machine.
Point being, if everyone is executing their best day, they don’t need sette ex machina.
Don't worry, the abuse is mostly psychological.
Somehow I think this whole story is a Lion King fanfic.
>He didn't want the cold functionality of the khert
In the world beyond, blackened ichor filled a crumbling sky, as soul withered away to nothing.
BUT
I
REFUSE
TO
FADE
>We want to create a human with a soul that'll send them to be reincarnated and keep the memories of all their past lives within them
>Also, we're going to give them claws to rip off the memories that we're going out of our way to stockpile
Now I realize that if they had only given the khert itself a debug tool like Sette has, things would be much better.
imagine, infinity settes
Not a big fan of Sette becoming this important all of a sudden, but why not.
>all of a sudden
That's the shit I hate about most mangas, they lack restraints, and this is going the same way
we get it, you're a speed reader, nobody's gonna clap for you
I don't think this gives her that much importance beyond what we already knew (the fact that she can control memories.)
The bird soul is the important part. If anything, it sucks to be a Sette, since they apparently get stuck as whole ghosts in the khert...forever.
As others say, yes, this has been long intended.
Like, her being called the "only real human" is legit stupid.
> her being called the "only real human" is legit stupid.
Remember that it’s IIyganyag saying that, and that she’s trying to spin the story in a way that will make Sette more cooperative and amendable to her.
Coming Friday: Ssael creates the Dammakhert to produce longer-lived humans?
This is going to sound crazy but what if this is actually post-Ssael. We don't know the full extent of Northsongs' factuality and if people before Ssael and the Man we're saying the khert is golden there's no reason Ssael wouldn't be lying too. Since Ssael was mauled by lions there's clearly tension between them; hence necessitating the lion element in Jac and Sette as a show of good faith.
It would be hack writing for the Man to be some guy we've never heard of before. Ashley is not a hack.
Inb4 Sessine is a lion, the sexual dimorphism is just that fricked, agibs are lions. Have we ever seen a lioness before? Didn't think so.
It would explain Sette/Jacaranda, but does that mean That Man was actually a third option?
>Sort of. She’s an agib - a type of senet beast - and they are very, very strange.
Wuuut, I was just going to ask about this, ash finally confirmed Sessine to be an agib, but why the frick she doesn't look like the other agibs we have seen?
I get it, but it feels like a red herring now.
>everything points out to this guy being ssael
>reading back to scenes like:
>Make it more obvious even
>yet WoG is going full "who said this guy is Ssael"?
I don't have time for your 4d chess games cope
I still think the related pages make it sound like a more ancient happening (before recorded history) than we know Ssael is (supposed to be), but that's just my reading of it.
I guess one thing that I would want to check if I were a Kasslyne scholar is look into records of smoke eels. They shouldn't exist before Ssael if it were him.
Senet beasts vary a lot.
Look at that poor man in the final panel being tormented by an army of naked Settes. Someone help this man.
So is Sessine gonna try and get Sette on-side and Ssael try to get Duane on-side and both end up rejecting them for one another?
Anyone wondering WHY this random guy was deposited, whole and intact, in the khert - which had no other (admitted) residents besides Sessine? She says she was imprisoned with him, which seems to imply the dude was also deliberately put there. How? And by whom?
We'll proabably get to that in the future. The act seems extreme and we've never heard of anyone else going into the khert. Ashley seems to be firmly in the antihuman soul category.
I meant anti-immortal soul. The idea that some spirit lives on after death.
This is some Dark Souls shit lmao
Sette has the blood of the Dark Soul.
>Hand them over, those things. Your hindquarters
Ah, that makes sense
Damn, where's the Duane/Gael art?
I hope we get to see more Settes.
My thinking:
They reincarnated without delay for a period of time. Someone counted ~21 previous Settes, so with 12 years between them, that’s 252 years.
If they stopped doing this after Sette 21, then our Sette (Sette 22) was born over 700 years after the previous one.
Hey on this note, did we ever get confirmation from Ashley about whether Duane "hearing Ssael" when he was alive was truly a voice from beyond or it was the result of slight brain damage?
I don't see why she'd spoil such a thing when the ambiguity is so useful
Duane Is Always Wrong, so of course it's not what he thinks it is.
He was right on Sette being human.
