A true analogue disc based format that existed when the negatives of classic films/Animu had yet to deteriorate. DVD is superior for anything made after 2000 though. Most 80s anime had their best releases on LD, so did many B movies whose negatives were poorly preserved

Just that some releases had better transfers
It was not a superior format

Especially because of how many players actually have worse picture over s-video than they do on composite

It's a complete meme for anything that wasn't intentionally shot on video. And even then, most of that is still too high end to look right on VHS. I suppose some cartoons might qualify as "designed" to be on the format.

I collect rare vinyls so I can rip the music and put them online.
I also buy silent-era reels as many “small” no-name movies never got a re-release but I do not have any equipment to do this.
I don’t know about VHS but I suppose there must be some obscure shit out there from that era.

      >I don’t know about VHS but I suppose there must be some obscure shit out there from that era.
If you can find a particular one from 1982, you could potentially become rich overnight. And I'm not even talking store bought, like a VHS tape with a certain film on it from television.

I don’t know about “rich”. This stuff takes a long time to sell. I’ve sold some obscure horror VHS for $300-$400.

I assure there's material out there worth a nice house in a good neighborhood, that kind of instant wealth. And I'm talking cream of the crop ultra-wanted, not obscure garbage.

          >I’ve sold some obscure horror VHS for $300-$400.
that's pretty good, anon. Worth it for all parties since as you know, some VHS material is never being ported to anything because of lolyers.

Reminds me of Def-Con 4. It's nearly terrible, but not quite because of some good acting by one actor who was in Dances with Wolves.

original tapes of it I have seen go for $200 - $350. depends on the version, they are replicas that still sell for like $50 - $75. You can watch it on Tubi.

there are playlists on YouTube of SOV horror.

this ones in Italian with English title cards in the beginning, crazy shit, you don’t even have to understand the language it’s wild. from IMDb:
                >Underground Italian extremely gory, gross-out "comedy" (in early John Waters vein) about a badly burnt morphine junkie who is turned into a zombie after he gets injected with infected urine by his pug-ugly, crazy sister

No idea whatever happened to it I really wish I held on to all the horror tapes I used to have never would’ve guessed they’d be so valuable one day. I think my parents threw most of them out when I was away at college

if you scroll up you will see I said things such as this take a very long time to sell and the most I ever sold a horror VHS for was close to $400 (Curvaceous Corpses and Hack-O-Lantern, specifically) but that does not mean autistic nerds do not buy it. I don’t have any $1500 tapes to sell.
