Kennedy started the process after his sister was lobotomized and there were "promising" advancements in medication therapies and support available in communities. Funding for this type of shit was gutted by each following administration and the mentally ill usually end up homeless or imprisoned, the penal system has become the defacto asylum of modern times. Sure, Asylums were full of abuse, neglect, corruption, but what isn't. Dumping them on the streets and making it the problem of police worked out so well for everybody.
my kid tested positive for the Rona on Friday.
Was sick as a dog for a day.
hes completely fine and running around the park earlier
Im still yet to catch this ebin flu.
both not vax'd. fricking sus as frick now more than ever

Where did I say no one ever got poorly before?.

No, you didn't even take the time to understand what the virus was, what it did, and how it effected others. Which was always a toss up and varied person to person.

Healthy people were getting it and dying too, along with children. This isn't really the place for this discussion of you being an idiot.
That’s not what the film is about.
The film, and I think book upon which it is based if I’m not mistaken, is about the insensitivity of psychiatry and/or (its) mental institutions/hospitals and/or the conduct thereof.
There are many scenes that show this but I’ll use this one as an example: the hospital seemingly doesn’t allow the “inmates” to do anything worthwhile, just the typical drudgery poppywiener instead of taking them out to enjoy the ocean air and really putting their mind and body into an activity (fishing) done in an environment that has the potential to rejuvenate and/or reinvigorate them.
I recommend you see the film as I think it’s really good and this post seems to indicate you’ve either not seen it, didn’t watch it closely enough, or are intentionally distorting elements of the film to make a “shitpost” on Cinemaphile’s Cinemaphile board.
I think my tone of prose in the last sentence was maybe a bit too harsh or at least can come across that way. Sorry about that I didn’t mean it too.
>, is about the insensitivity of psychiatry and/or (its) mental institutions/hospitals and/or the conduct thereof.
I had to come back and read this post, but fricking bingo. Those institutions were hell for so many involved, the staff and the ill. Really the worst days when it came to psychiatric health/help.
>the hospital seemingly doesn’t allow the “inmates” to do anything worthwhile, just the typical drudgery poppywiener instead of taking them out to enjoy the ocean air and really putting their mind and body into an activity (fishing) done in an environment that has the potential to rejuvenate and/or reinvigorate them.
I can tell you've never dealt with mentally ill people before. They aren't capable of constructively spending their time. That's why they are mentally ill. You can't take a stark raving made homeless man on a nice fishing trip. He's going to have an episode and do crazy shit that ruins not only his day but everyone else's as well. That's what it means to be mentally ill. These people are nonfunctional hence the fricking condition that we named to explain their lives.
Its more than the psych wards weren't handling the patients properly. Instead of locking them rooms and pumping them with chemicals a simple fenced yard or trip to t eh beach would do them far more good.
This is one of the nicer ward that they show in the movie. Most were far worse, particularly one for young boys.
I'm reading the book and have been voluntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital before. The key to this book is an unreliable narrator and that is kinda lost in the movie a bit. But it's the idea that maybe the insane people are the ones trying to keep order in an insane world, and that Nurse Ratchet is a ball cutter who will do anything to keep order.
Yes giving meds to people who don't need them and are just avoiding jail time is evil. Just like giving lobotomies to people who don't need them is evil.
Why is everyone ignoring the fact that it's revealed that a lot of the patients committed themselves voluntarily, due to run of the mill depression and anxiety and shit
>Get into psych ward due to suicidal thoughts >Nurses and doctors realize that I am not crazy just suicidal >They sent me home in 2 weeks >Get meds that make me passive and help symptoms, not the cause.
Doctors & nurses have too many patients to actually treat mentally unstable patients. I feel bad for anyone who works there. They are not bad people. There are too many patients to do their work properly.
When I started at my facility 6 years ago a full unit of patients (24) required 3 nurses and 4 orderlies any other special precautions would guarantee another staff member
The corporation that owned the hospital overtime made it 2 and 2 for a full unit of 24 patients and thats when more fights and attempts starting popping up more frequently and they couldn't understand why
We didn't care about raises we literally just wanted them to staff us correctly because when the hospital was staffed the way it was the job was chill because we were able to tend to problem patients and put out a fire before it started
Corporate responded with sno cone and food trucks but staff couldn't partake because if we were to leave the unit we would pretty much jeopardize who had to stay behind because we were already short staffed
I think that taunting a patient until he killed himself and then forcibly lobotomizing another just because he called her out for it were much bigger issues than the meds thing.
It effected people differently, that was it's biggest problem because the effects would vary person to person. Some people would have teeth fall out or have issues with psychosis after it. It still is a weird as frick virus.
Luckily Regan shut all these places down.
indeed, the best place for the mentally ill is on Reality TV.
they are going to be opened up again anytime now
He did not. It was the usual democrat tricks.

You took an experimental therapeutic (not even a vaccine) for a mild flu
my kid tested positive for the Rona on Friday.
Was sick as a dog for a day.

Just because you haven't got sick doesn't mean that others haven't you fricking idiot.
The only ones at risk from this fricking cold are old people and immuno compromised people. But keep muzzling yourself and getting your genes altered for a fricking cold.

Masks don't work and neither does the vaxx.
Still after all this time, you're still misinformed. You're one dumb motherfricker fr fr.

Nurse Ratchett cute
Its more than the psych wards weren't handling the patients properly. Instead of locking them rooms and pumping them with chemicals a simple fenced yard or trip to t eh beach would do them far more good.

Crafts were a big thing, they did a LOT of crafts.
haha did you know that she had giant breasts in the books hahahaha so funny
Did you not watch the fricking movie?
I worked in a psych facility as an orderly for 6 years and this movie was hilarious
Got any stories?
A million of them
Want anything specific?
I can tell yall from experience that you should never date a woman that has ever had an unnatural hair color
Guarantee they have some type of depression or mental health disorder
I'm reading the book and have been voluntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital before. The key to this book is an unreliable narrator and that is kinda lost in the movie a bit. She also gave us massive boners. That's the real reason she is demonized for.
Yes giving meds to people who don't need them and are just avoiding jail time is evil. Just like giving lobotomies to people who don't need them is evil.
It's interesting that this and Clockwork Orange both deal with the same themes of electroshock and being cured.
Why is everyone ignoring the fact that it's revealed that a lot of the patients committed themselves voluntarily, due to run of the mill depression and anxiety and shit
I didnt read it within the last 20 years but a few of the "chronics" were absolute basket cases as I remember. am I wrong?
I've only seen the film, so I can't really speak to what happens in the book or how faithful the adaptation is
>Get into psych ward due to suicidal thoughts
>Nurses and doctors realize that I am not crazy just suicidal
>They sent me home in 2 weeks
>Get meds that make me passive and help symptoms, not the cause.
ayy lmao
>Europoor
>Get into Psych Ward
>Ask time for social worker
>She helps me get guarenteed benefits with her experience in applications.
I have never felt so happy getting GIBS ME DAT.
Doctors & nurses have too many patients to actually treat mentally unstable patients. I feel bad for anyone who works there. They are not bad people. There are too many patients to do their work properly.
This is 100 percent accurate

Just banter bro
>get covid
>have low grade fever for a day
Lol we shut the planet down over this? Lmao.
It effected people differently, that was it's biggest problem because the effects would vary person to person. Some people would have teeth fall out or have issues with psychosis after it. It still is a weird as frick virus.
>person with authority lacks humanity and real understanding just wants to satisfy narcissism and follow orders
boomers perfectly described themselves though
