When Paul's father is killed Jessica is a couple of weeks pregnant and at the end that kid is around 4, so it's 5 years + the time they spent on Arrakis which is at least several months.
So yeah, both movies cover about 5 or maybe even 6 years, but apparently we can't have that.
This is what baffles me. They split it in 2 - there's an obvious opportunity to put in a time skip.

If they're going to change that I'd argue that they might as well not have revealed Paul and Jessica being Harkonnens until that moment. The audience would think the Baron was just some evil butthole and then Paul pulls a reverse Darth Vader and just shanks him.

In Dune Part 2, since Alia is still a fetus, Paul is the one to confront the Baron and kill him, but just before he kills him he says "Grandfather".
