Stupid explanation. First off Gus didn't do the murder so it wasn't linked to him. Second Mike was seen in public around crime scenes too.

What's the benefit of being a supervillain henchman working and living in his secret lair? You can't see your family, you can't enjoy your money, and you can get killed at any time.
We get 5-star gourmet food and a one month on, one month off schedule. The base is near a tourist area in the tropical third world so it lets us live like permatourists when not on-site.
