Wait, why is everyone saying that he's a bad guy now? Have I watched a different movie? How does taking revange for killing your father and your people make him a bad guy?

No one is saying that he's a bad guy, yet. Read the books.
I've seen Dune twice and Dune Two once, none of this happens. Frick off
>the books don't exist

Still the books tell that the fremen would have jihad anyway without Paul, even do way worse than killing 60billions of people, moron
He exploited the native culture of Arrakis for his own vendetta, started a jihad that will lead to the deaths of 60 billion people, and set the galaxy on a path of stagnation and decay that will eventually cause the extinction of the Fremen.
he killed billions to save trillions
His son will kill even more to save humanity from extinction.
And that's a good thing.
Paul wasn't doing anything to save humanity, seeing that the Jihad isn't the worst possible future for humanity doesn't mean the Jihad is actively preventing that future from coming to pass, if anything it only made it more inevitable
Leto II's reign was relatively peacefully because he stamped the boot down hard and fast. Yes, it created a stagnant world where people had their freedom of movement stolen and their wills ground to dust, but it's explicitly stated that the Fish Speakers kept the peace and the basic needs of people were mostly met.
Why were they called fish speakers, bros? Is it a vegana reference?
You're confusing him with Leto II. Paul literally did it all for revenge. He has a moment where he sees two future before him, one which "digusts him" and another where he HItlermaxxes and holocausts a considerable part of humanity. If the sequels are valid ways of inteprepating that dilemma, he actively picks the path where he doesn't become a giant manworm god.
Also because Leto II is immune to Paul's ability to see the future, Paul doesn't go forth with his revenge plans knowing that someone eventually will decide to walk the golden path or one where the jihad is needed for it to happen. The jihad is completely for his own benefit to avoid the worm god path while also getting him revenge.
god those costumes were so bad
So? yolo
Also, doesn't have the balls to give up his own personal humanity to save the entire human race so he just makes his son do it
It's the step after that where he goes a little too far
>how is this dictator that genocides billions a bad guy?
There isn't a moral judgement in Dune. He's a steelman presented by a libertarian.
Because his awe inspiring and heroic actions give the goys bad ideas mmkaay now shut up goy and let your son be fricked by men
always was
Read the books

herbert got assmad becuase people liked paul he wrote messiah. What a homosexual maybe dont make the villains for the story cartoon villains who deserve to get genocided. I still feel like hes trolling us.
He cucked his mystery-meat slampig. Think of the BIPOC woman, OP.
>responsible for billions of people dying
>good guy
I wonder how far they will go with these movies
>responsible for billions of people dying
>The Quitatz made me do it!
Do Fremen really?
Killed his pop pop
Reminder Dany's entire arc is just Paul.
Did you not see the ending of part 2 when he said to send all the opposing houses to paradise?
he gave them a choice - other houses could accept him as an emperor
They chose, poorly.
He explicitly says in the movie:
>if I do x and get my revenge, billions will die all over the galaxy
Then does it anyway
The alternative is to get raped by the harkonnen. Not much of a choice.
Paul becoming the emperor at the end of Dune was always stupid even in the books.
He should have just retaken control of Arrakis after killing the Baron.
Then the next guy would do the same to him.
