Wait.... your telling me that Agent smith is the bad guy?

“I´d like to share a revelation that I´ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species, and I realized that you’re not actually mammals.

Every mammal on this planet instictively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way can survive is to spread to another area.

There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus.

Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague and we… are the cure.”

Considering the type of personality that they say is required to notice the Matrix in the first place, there should be more people like Cypher, or at least the majority of the free population would make for terrible soldiers.

Sure they can notice the Matrix, but the programmed society would deem them crazy unless that person was also contacted by Morpheus who would confirm their suspicion that the world around them is fake.

They say they don't know who fucked up the surface but the machines have to be at least partially responsible, they wouldn't just fuck up the surface for no reason. Also if humans were up there for thousands of years they would have done some terraforming or found to bring a way to bring some beauty to it, machines are way worse than humans.

Also it's canon that aliens tried to destroy earth and the machines programmed a human pilot to take them out in a kamikaze mission

    This movie is so odd.

It starts with a lot of interesting questions, and then half to the end it gives the most boring answers possible.

It could be a fantastic movie about insane terrorists that went crazy with drugs, paranoia and high calliber weaponry going on rampages in the city fighting against imaginary machines -- and just killing people.

People investigating this shit and coming to doubt what they know.

The Agents presented in the beginning as heroes and mentors.

Someone from one side starting to doubt their orders and following what the other side believes.

Emphasis on perception, philosophy, questioning, finding meaning. Ending open to interpretation. Debates about which side would be right. No certainty.

Instead we got this Ghost in the Shell John Woo rip off with a lot of fetishistic undertones, a lot of infodump without any real thinking, a lot of basic good vs evil morality and way too much money spent on bullshit.

Gee, I wonder what kind of people would write a story about being obsessively right about the reality being wrong, joining a cult of people who all think the same as you and needing pills to feel like a real person.

i had a dream a couple months before the sequels came out. it was very vivid. i was in the matrix and a female agent said she knew i was about to get yanked out by terrorists and promised life would be better if i stayed. then we had sex, but being a young teen i didn't really know how that worked so that part of the dream was less detailed. i've had a fetish for women in suits ever since. some people have thought i have yellow fever but it's only the tendency of korean/jap women to wear white button-up shirts and jackets.

what did the female agent look like? And what do you think the chances are that the dream was real? You'll probably never reply back but I figured I'd ask. You had a fascinating dream.

no, most animals and plants and life in general only "finds balance" because other things push back. When they find a new area without predators or evolve an advantage over others they overbreed, destroy the local ecosystem, then collapse due to overpopulation and/or environmental damage
see: rabbits in australia, borer beetles in north america, ebola, most introduced fish, etc
humans are the only form of life in all of history to make any attempt whatsoever to put the ecosystems long term health ahead of their own short term rewards

      >humans are the only form of life in all of history to make any attempt whatsoever to put the ecosystems long term health ahead of their own short term rewards

There is a mass extinction occurring right now that is caused by humans using up all the land.

Mushrooms have a vast mycelial network underground which helps the trees in the forest grow, send each other nutrients and communicate. This made me wonder whether the story of a ruthless and senseless nature was entirely true or if it is a myth invented by a ruthless culture.

        >attempt

        >This made me wonder whether the story of a ruthless and senseless nature was entirely true
it is. Nature as an abstract thing doesn't have a conscious want, it balances itself out by sear thermodynamic principles. You describes an effective method of self replication. One of many that are contextual.
If anything, I would wager you are just a part of a culture that gets off on self hate.

          Anonymous

Great but it’s worked to benefit the trees as well as the mushrooms for an immense span of time. Whereas the methods employed by the dominant culture, which you defend, are on the path to destroy itself and most of the wonderful plants and animals that live here in a few hundred years. Your mechanistic analysis is joyless and farcical in its reductive “objectivity” which serves to disconnect you from an organic whole which has endured for a billion years on the successful principle of mutually beneficial interactions. I love it. I wonder about you…

Smith was an outlier. Just like the first machine that sparked the war because he didn't want to die, Smith is one who doesn't want to exist in this reality. Basically an anti natalist

Machines are just Programs that inhabit Machine Bodies in the real world.

There also exist programs that solely exist within The Matrix. The Architect, Agents, Oracle, Keymaker, Little indian girl and her family, all Programs created by other Programs (The Machines) to maintain the Matrix.

No, anon, Agent Smith has conflated industrial society with humans in their natural state.
Possibly because he is a product of that society, just as the mainstream green activist thinks man a plague, entirely unaware that tribal peoples engage in the equilibrium that Agent Smith speaks of.

He's right. Humans in the Matrix setting are monkeys who blew up the planet and turned into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Humans are completely in the wrong within that story.
