So what is going on here? Is it a mimic that lured the viewer? She doesn't wear robes and we have seen a robed character in previous shorts whose face was obscured by a hood.
my theory is that the girl is some kind of reaper/demon guiding us through hell, when the corridor goes black the doors turn into jail cells and the faces at the end are trapped souls.
Interesting take though she could be possessed. As mentioned we do see a hooded figure in previous videos that stalks her. Probably dragged to hell to do the same to others?

00's nostalgia is gonna be all the rage this decade, if it gives us some return of scene-emocore gals and aesthetics I'm all for it

80's nostalgia in the 2010's gave us endless of shitty movie remakes and pandering, but it also gave us stuff like synthwave and Hotline Miami
I think the 00s were more influenced by the 80s. A lot of games from the time were copycatting 80s films, such as GTA:VC which was basically a Scarface videogame or Halo which heavily drew from Predator. A ton of the music was also pretty inspired by rock from the 80s. If there's one thing I do look forward to is some sort of punk/emo/metal rock revival, but I'm barely seeing anything of the sort.
Personally I'd love some of the real gritty D&B from the super early 00's to make a comeback

I think we've been in a 2000s nostalgia Era for almost a while now. Newgrounds has been slowly gaining back its relevance in online zeitgeist and even if flash is dead as a format there have been a lot of love letters to those types of animations and games as of late.

Looking at social blade it appears this channel only blew up due a quirk in the YouTube algorithm(probably due to the fact YouTube started promoting short form videos again) since as late as May this year it only had 100ish subscribers. So for a majority of this channel's existence they were probably posting videos into the void without any expectations of more that 100 people viewing them at the most.

LSD Dream Emulator, though it doesn't have as much of the bizarre as Japanese conceptualism/conceptual horror (or whatever the correct word is) usually is, Western iterations of the genre usually follow a more linear and concise way and is less random; to iterate one is scary because it has a creepy long low-poly face while the other is creepy because it has little sound while little happens and you're expecting to get jumped at any point. Thought i'm not sure if the channel really is American mostly because there is zero description to it but I remember one video had some Asian runes in a building and really that's all I'm going from.
