Was there no science fiction in the Walking Dead universe? Why did it not occur to any group to label zombies as fricking zombies?

Zombie movies (typically) do not exist in zombie movies. Everyone already knows this.
The Walking Dead is not a movie, anon.
smoked his ass
Yea the creator said that zombies don't exist in the walking dead
Zombies are rarely mentioned in movies because to zombie fans, "zombie" specifically refers to the Voodoo magic zombies which were popular. The standard term is "undead"
Calling all undead "zombies" is like calling all short people "midgets".
This hasn't been the case for 60 fricking years.
>normies ruin everything
Voodoo zombies are better than undead flesh munchers
We'll never more voodoo zombie films again because depicting Haitians in a negative light is somehow bad now.
>Are those Zombies?!
>Actually I would prefer it if you do not use Africanised terms as some undead may find this...ackkkk
Zombies are from Haiti.
>zombies are from Haiti
>walking dead are from Hades
Bravo
The first that we know of perhaps, from African Voodoo
>The word Vodou means “spirit” or “deity” in the Fon language of the African kingdom of Dahomey (now Benin)
So in the Walking Dead universe Haiti doesn't exist and the whole island is probably just the Dominican Republic. What a blessed timeline.
>is like calling all short people "midgets".
Wait you don't do that?
It's generally accepted that zombie fiction does not exist in the world of a zombie flick / show. Otherwise the military would just head cap them all and be done with it in a week. They don't call them zombies because they think they're being clever by subverting the trope, and also because you spergs would sperg out of a character ever actually referred to a zombie as a zombie.
>they think they're being clever by subverting the trope
George Romero, the father of the modern zombie flick, never once referred to his monsters as zombies. He referred to them as "ghouls" in the film, and "undead" afterwards, but never "zombie". Was he subverting his own genre?
>George Romero, the father of the modern zombie flick
Nah dawg.
My friend, there are millions of things in the world that were technically created by one person but are credited to the person who popularized it.
White zombie was about voodoo magic zombies. When was the last time one of those came out? Decades? MODERN (like I said) is definitely attributed to Romero's "the dead"
i think it's neat that in the walking dead for example people from different places have different name for the zombies.
like in the new show rick is like "don't call them walkers because i called them those and the homosexuals could realize that we are from the same group"
in the first season they called them Geeks
>The Dead
This one is kino though. It's straightforward and scary as frick. A throwback to the original Night of The Living Dead.
If you said the word "zombie" when that film debuted, most people would think you were talking about some African voodoo shit instead.
This. They're the Dead and that's it. Zombie was never a cool name.
>Why did it not occur to any group to label zombies as fricking zombies?
There's only one true zombie, OP.
>zombie jesus
This shit never stopped bothering me.
doesn't bother me. it would actually be more bothering if they were going on constantly about zombies instead of walkers and whatever
I wouldn’t mind it so much if they’d called them various things early on(Walkers, Biters, Geeks, “the Infected”), but out of some sort of denial, only to later face reality.
they say zombie in mexican once in fear the walking dead
because they are not zombies. Zombies are controlled by someone, a shaman or something. Walkers, like everyone else on the planet, are infected with a parasite that activates when they die. This is clearly explained in S1 E4.
Op is a huge homosexual who knows this.
It's not a parasite. It's a fungus from an asteroid according to the author. But that never got incorporated into the show.
It could be a tuber …
IT’S NOT A TUBER.
Wasn't there some plotline in the show where they were looking for the cause/cure?
Eugene lied.
Skimmed through some recap. I must have been thinking of season 1 when they went to CDC for cure and were told told that there's no cure.
>Eugene
I forgot what happened to him, he probably died right?
Nope. Still alive.
Return of the living dead and Resident Evil games had no problem calling them zombies
You forgot "Lame-Brains"
As an ESL a zombie is just any undead lol I don't know how everyone here just asociates it with Vodoo. Is Africa really such a big part of your culture now? Zombies are undead of any kind. Some are awaken through magic and some do it by a parasite or fungus. Europeans win once again.
