This is just a classic case of giving us what they want instead of what we want and then blaming us for it bombing.
The casting probably would have helped this a little bit. Kristen Stewart would fit in to the dirty sweaty world of Mad Max better, she actually looks similar to Charlize.
Instead we get flavor of the year Anya.
She was weird looking but cute. Now she just looks weird. She isn't a terrible actress but her career is due to the quality of the projects she was in.
All I can think is that she was miscast in this movie. Especially when she puts the bald cap on. I bet Kristen would have shaved her head for it.
All in all, it just wasn't a movie we needed to see.
They covered enough of Furiosa's backstory in Fury Road, we can infer the rest from the circumstances of that movie and who she worked for in it, why she would want redemption.
Miller is decades late for a character like Furiosa to be interesting.
She worked in Fury Road as a character for Max to help. Without him she is boring.

She would have been a few years younger if they had cast her instead of Anya.
With the way Furiosa ends, the age of Kristen would have been more appropriate anyways.

He acquired her with the intention of turning her into a sex slave, she nearly got molested by his giant nonce son, she constantly had to endanger her life to be deemed useful, and she was branded with his mark. He was not exactly a work friend.

It was weird how much the story glossed over the aftermath of her escaping the vault. Like, it should've been a big deal that a newly acquired girl just suddenly went missing from the vault, but they just timeskip right past any of that and move on.

I didn’t understand that either, Immortan Joe sent his entire military force to search for just five of his brides but he doesn’t make so much as a peep when one of his future brides (whom he made a major trade for) goes missing? I’m surprised he didn’t retaliate against Rictus in the slightest for fricking up so bad, it’s even weirder knowing that Furiosa finally reveals herself after the War Rig fight yet they don’t try to reimplement her as one of the brides or acknowledge her hiding for so long.

          >finally reveals herself after the War Rig fight
she was one of the Praetorians, everyone there knew who she was, my biggest issue with the film is that they literally timejump her somehow becoming a main lietuenant of the people she's hiding from, including Rictus who is spelled out to be sus of her. I genuinely do not understand how they accepted her into the position she was in. In Fury Road it is supposed to be a mystery as well and instead of explaining it here, they just timejump it.

In the comics it's shown that the chastity belts were implemented to stop rictus raping people, but Joe is too much of a softie on his kids to punish them

Feels weird for her to spite Immortan Joe so particularly in Fury Road when the whole story of Furiosa is demonstrating that Joe's practically a beacon of stability compared to Dementus, who's the real object of Furiosa's enmity in the first place.

Can anyone explain to me how this film's story even makes any sense? For example it is set in Australia and that continent is extremely ill suited for any possible human survivability especially after a major catastrophe that reduce humanity to specific location on earth.
Even in present day Australia's outback is fricking hell on earth and many people die out there with modern amenities that could prolong their survivability.

All these movies have that same problem. They're set out in the fricking outback but the outback wouldn't even notice a worldwide civilization collapse because it's already horrible desert nobody wants to be in

I didn't know. There was a lot of guys after that, it had like 5 montages. And like a bunch of clips from what looked to be the previous movie. It was weird.

            >relationship with Furiosa was a plot device
Monogamous relationship was the antidote to the sexual imbalance of Joe's and Dementus's wasteland. This film is too Christian for Cinemaphile to enjoy.
