April was one of THE waifus of the 80s/90s.

I was watching the original TMNT in the early-'90s and she was pretty top-shelf at the time for waifubait. Not me, though, I was too young to really waifu anything and always saw her as more of a human ally to the turtles like Casey or April's thirsty nerd friend (I forget her name).

lol this, no one was imagining marrying cartoon characters except a few fringe weirdoes like that Gadget guy. Waifuism is a condition brought by anime's popularity. Even old anime nerds were in it to frick the sailor scouts not marry them.

Obsession over fictional characters always existed, it just became more palatable with the advent of the internet and like minded people.

Before you know, you might stay home and draw weird fan art of catwoman april but that'd probably be the end of it.

Now you type "catwoman april" into furaffinity or whatever and get multiple pages of weird shit dedicated to your niche hyper-specific interest

          Anonymous

Even then, the internet culture back then was to mock this stuff so much it made it so people wouldn't admit it even if they felt that way. This is why the most notable weirdoes online come from that 90s-2009 era before twitter. You'd never discover CWC now because he'd be drowned out in the ocean.People no longer having individual websites and relying on twitter has filtered so much.
Now you can't walk two steps online without someone declaring (new cartoon character) their waifu

And it wasn’t about wanting her as my wife.

Not that I know of. She was considered normal back then. Designs like Jessica Rabbit and Hello Nurse were more the focus of the proto-waifugays of the time.

They did good in the ass but they could have been better on the boobs. Needs to be bigger and gainaxing

Frankly my friend, I find that a nice ass makes up for dull breasts.

It's April, though. Having massive boobs is her thing.

It's like they got told to shrink her down so they made her ass humongous to compensate

I guess, but i do think a big booty suits her to a tea.

Naw, her breasts are the right size. They just didn't shade them properly in the opening.

A contributing factor maybe but the fact that there's one or two dedicated schizo shitposters in every thread ranting about the same things is more of a factor when people actually try to make threads about the media. Endless rants about murdering villains and characters sucking

Also you know, the only new content coming out atm is the slowly releasing and pretty divisive comic. There's a movie coming out but it's seth rogen's production studio and it's focusing on them as school-age teens which I've kind of gotten my fill of from 2012 and rise

April found second life as a fetish character for a long time unfortunately. So while kids in the 90's did find her cute and sexually appealing,(hell there's an Oprah ninja turtle interview where the turtles start talking about fricking her) , she wasn't on the level of Jessica Rabbit, for example. Unless you had transformation or tickling fetishes. Internet artists in the 2000's saved 80's April from the tickle pit.
