You know something is good if they ban multiple episodes and the host apologizes for his previous crimethink.

He’s a satanic israelite Athiest who worships Lucifer. His entire show is based off of the USSR’s black science programs that did horrendous experiments on Nazi POW’s and civilians. He is the definition of evil.

Yes, it was a very good educational show that tackled pretty complex topics in a way that was easy for kids to understand. It's a major reason I was motivated to learn in school enough to get a STEM degree and live comfortably today.

Yeah the new show is pozzed to hell and back. It's a real shame to see one of my childhood heroes get a case of terminal culture warrior brainrot. The only criticism I've seen of Nye prior to his degenerate phase is that he doesn't have a post-doc. But if you ask me a bachelor's is more than enough to convey foundational concepts of science to kids, and he had enough on-screen charisma (plus a creative production team) to make it fun to watch.

Its actually really important to realize that science education has been colonized by political subversives and thought police who control what can be taught as truth.

Was Bill Nye the Science Guy a good show? Is it worth watching now?

All of these were great and still hold up because they taught enduring concepts of science and their application instead of focusing on rootless technological trivia like every soilennial youtuber seems to do. Reminder that if you want your kids to grow up to be successful, you should curate these kinds of things to show them with parental guidance and involvement instead of letting their brains rot through unsupervised short-form "content".

They used to show this guy on PBS stations late at night so schools could tape it to show in the classroom. He looks like a stereotypical scientist with einstien hair and weird eccentricity.

Bill Nye filled the gap of teaching actual knowledge at just the perfect time when our schools started transitioning into affirmative-action bullshit taught to the lowest common denominator (niglets with zero mental capacity for critical thinking).

No. Ignoring problems with Bill entirely, it's way too frenetic even for a kids' show. Feels like ADHD goggles going through an episode.
Add in that Bill is a shitty human with noxious speaking habits, who's not even a credentialed nor peer reviewed scientist, and it's not worth the nostalgia.

      Anonymous

      >way too frenetic even for a kids' show
I disagree. Every episode was focused around a singular topic and had cut-away segments about related concepts that all followed a consistent formula, i.e. an expert or tradesman speaking about their profession, the music videos with lyrics swapped about the topic, or the try-it-yourself experiments. It was varied but never frenetic and I had no trouble following all of it even at a young age.
      >noxious speaking habits
What does this even mean? Can you name an example?
      >credentialed nor peer reviewed scientist
You don't need to have a doctorate to teach kids basic scientific concepts.

        >What does this even mean? Can you name an example?
He's extremely preachy and arrogant. Zero humility. Confirmed from multiple sources at multiple times. Speeches at friends' college graduations, encounters by fans, speaking engagements on talk shows, etc etc. Even putting politics and scientific controversies aside, he's an unapologetic dick.
        > You don't need to have a doctorate to teach kids basic scientific concepts.
I agree, but to tie back to the zero humility thing, HE acts and talks and thinks like he's the big shot scientist, not a dude with a BS in mechanical engineering who ran a cult classic kids show.
        >not frenetic
I'm open to this one. I only tried a few of the episodes as an adult and maybe the ones I picked were poor examples. Or maybe I'm just a slowing old man now.

I think we're just talking about the original show, which is very watchable and doesn't seem to have any arrogance or political lean you'd expect from the maniac we've all come to know

            >I think we're just talking about the original show,
I know, my post's point was that I didn't enjoy it on rewatch, and that when I add in how poorly Nye has aged in the public light, my motivation to keep trying lowered further.

              >when I add in how poorly Nye has aged in the public light
This literally doesn't matter. Yeah, Nye is a fricking moron but that did not come over at all in the original series. He was a great host most likely because whoever directed/produced it had zero interest in allowing Nye to insert his views into a children's show even if they weren't quite as insane back then as they are now.

      It was marketed to children.
      >ONE THEME
      >FEW TOPICS
      >REPEAT INFORMATION
In a 20+ minute show, some method of conveyance about "the rain cycle" will eventually stick with everyone in the audience. Whether it was because you heard him mention it, you saw a graph, you watched it rain, you remember the gangsta-rap Rain Cycle music parody at the end, you conduct the same experiment shown, or maybe you just remember the episode re-cap; "Bill Nye the Science Guy" was a short television program aimed for an audience of nearly 1 billion children and was designed to make sure that week's science topic ("what is a rock?" "what is sound?" "what is electricity?" "how is energy measured?" etc.) is understood by children as young as 6-years-old.

Inertia is literally a property of matter. It's a lot to think about too, everything has a factor of how inherently inert it is. And I love that latin '-tia' suffix, the way it ends up meaning the abstraction of a physical property. Great vocabulary word to think on.
