I can see someone saying some parts were okay, but not the whole film, the whole thing was trash that seemed to be frame work for like 3 well written scenes

Most of it is good, just overlong and overdirected to the point of formal nonsense

I have to disagree, that over long and direction as you call it made the film stale, and the breasts made it feel cheap.

I don't have a problem with breasts, but it felt like it was try to distract that it had very little substance

breasts are only distraction to coomers, there is very little sexual appeal in the whole film so it cant distract since it does nothing.

Exactly, but I got the impression that the director was so incompetent that he thought he had to shine a flashy toy to a 13 year old when it was thin and embarrassing

it's okay. it's at least strange and striking so i think it will be one of those movies people keep coming back to and "reappraising" over the years instead of forgetting forever as soon as the marketing push ends. there is a concentrated effort by twitter feminists to suppress it in that manipulative "there is something wrong with you if you like this" kind of way that comes off as particularly desperate because they know the movie has a strong vision that can't be easily dismissed.

yes, it is a good movie. most of the complains you can find is people saying that it showed the "wrong parts of Monroe's life".
it's an interesting view on trauma and mental illness, sprinkled with bits of Hollywood as an exploitative (of people) industry.
People just can't take that it's not a complete whitewash.

Yes, it's Marilyn MKUltra. And the aesthetics are valium to Lurman's Elvis' speed. The big problem with Blonde is that Ana has terrible breasts. Have they deflated? But it's possible Dominik hates Monroe so much that he wanted to use mediocre breasts and not even joking. He fricking hates the b***h. It's hilarious. And doomerpilled. homosexuals itts keep saying cringe but Hollywood Cringe is the theme

It is psychological drama/nightmare told in vignettes, a bit like Lynch with Mulholland Dr or Fire Walk With Me but the style is more all over the place and maximalist. The main objections are that the film focuses on depressive episodes and doesnt show how empowering and intelligent Monroe was (which is not true, but the film is not full of it, which is what some morons want) and some abortion stuff which makes some people seethe due to politics for some reason. It is good, but not great. He should have cut it down more or added more varied stuff.

I thought it was just a simple Marilyn Monroe biopic

          Anonymous

No, it indulges in plenty of fiction and speculation and the style is the opposite of conventional safe biopics. It is based on a fiction book.

Light switch brain from Crit. unfortunately. Monroe's private life was as low and lower than shown. Armas' is the first believable portrayal that hasn't been a Disneyficated fairy tale.

        >He should have cut it down more or added more varied stuff.
More obliquely suggestive stuff. The Kennedy(s) material is absolutely nuclear. + Rat Pack.

        This.

It's also like a feminist snuff film; where every man is a rapist; and everyone woman is absolved of any responsibility for their lives.

Meanwhile; it's shot in vignettes, like anon said, [...] ; but those aren't based on truth; but on the public/tabloid perception of things. Clear example are the first scenes in her bedroom; where the color balanced is messed with to foreshadow the bad contrast on the death photo of her in bed.

Meanwhile, the "crazy/troubled hot woman" meme was never any fun; and is far less popular than it was decades ago. You'd have to have been insane to date someone like her; let alone let her into your life

        >It's also like a feminist snuff film; where every man is a rapist
That's the biz., it's always been the biz. And as hackneyed and overplayed out as this bete noir has become, in Monroe case it absolutely conformed to that stereotype.

        [...]
        >Also most people probably went into it expecting a biopic and thats absolutely not what it is, if you dont already know the basic events of Monroes life then you wont learn much more from this film.
Zoomers please kys. You want a history lesson watch a fricking YT documentary. The point is there is no point to Monroe. The director did an interview that went viral because he said "Everyone loves Monroe but no one has even watched her movies, because they're not good and she's not a good actress," and then the feminist interview says Ahem, Gentlemen Like Blondes is a movie I watch and drink wine to with my feminist book club! and the director laughs at her. The movie isn't a history lesson it's experiential, she was just a dumb fricked up b***h stumbling out of beds like she was falling down silver clouds and then she died or was murdered even the director doesn't care.
This is the biggest L women have taken in movies in a long time.

        >hen she died or was murdered even the director doesn't care.
There's the weakness of it. Monroe had the kind of access to Golden Age Hollywood that has heavy symbolic value in the American mythos; the Kennedys (and Sinatra/mob) associations only further it. This is in the wake of Watergate, Fall of Saigon, Johnson carpetbagging his predecessor's achievements, recession ... a movie like this needed to be an archetypal gut punch to & indictment of Boomer Americana, its misuse and abuse, on multiple levels especially to the "hot mess" one for Gen X and foward women & Lana Del Rey-sim

The issue is the film has like zero fricking plot. Also most people probably went into it expecting a biopic and thats absolutely not what it is, if you dont already know the basic events of Monroes life then you wont learn much more from this film. The movie just kind of goes from event to event. For example early in the movie you see her as a young child getting dropped off at an orphanage. And the next scene she is already Marilyn Monroe about to suck and frick herself to fame. The rest of the film does this same sort of stuff.

It was alright. It felt kinda like masturbatory trauma porn at times. Probably could’ve cut down the amount of cgi fetus shots a little, and I think the way they portrayed Norma Jeane/Marilyn Monroe felt a little shallow. But the main performance was really good and it was a very well shot movie.

Probably would’ve been better if he got maybe one other person to help him write it.

Blonde was an amazing movie. The acting from Xavier, Anna de arms, husband 1 and 2. All of it was good,
It looked amazing, the switch between mono to coloured, showing manroe physique, on top of the other affects, was amazing.
The way it shot in the latter part of the film, to show how alone she was. Amazing.
The only complaint was that it ran a bit to long.
Even if it’s not historical accurate, she was a drug addicted b***h. They all where. It’s 50s and 60s Hollywood. What the frick do you expect from this?
You think cute girls in the 50s trying to move up in the world didn’t suck and frick?
People who give negative reviews didn’t know/want a movie that is darker in tone.

      >she was a drug addicted b***h. They all where. It’s 50s and 60s Hollywood. What the frick do you expect from this?
I think one of the concerns people that didn't like the film have with it not being historically accurate is people like you thinking exactly what you described as a result of seeing this movie. You said yourself you understood the movie wasn't historically accurate, but then in that same sentence proceed to discuss it as if it was. This isn't by any means the main criticism most people have with the movie, but I do think the fact that it reinforces the false opinions of dumb asses like yourself is definitely an additional good reason to think it's garbage
