if it came out a year or two after the remake, then it would've done really well. as it is, i enjoyed it. good performances all around. the highlight was the mom for sure. loved the end creature. bought it for my 'evil dead' collection.
Didn't watch it. White women playing dressup doesn't scare me. Horror movies are so fricking stupid now especially the trend with those christian haunting films using old actors appearances to produce scares. I'm sorry but old white people looking old and spooky doesn't do shit for me. I don't know if its cause the markets all hispanics now or what.
terrifier 2 was better because it didn't take itself so seriously
the modern day evil dead movies are bad because they just do gore and torture for no reason
also the production value was really low it was a couple steps above a b movie
Neither this nor 2013 touch the originals, but they were never going to. I appreciate both of them for what they are.
Between the two, I much prefer Rise. I think it's the scariest Evil Dead movie and it makes some choices I find really interesting and really spooky. It also feels like comfy horror which we don't get much of anymore. I can imagine being 13-16 and seeing Evil Dead Rise with my friends and it being like the scariest thing I've ever seen.
no, it was pretty bad and lacked any bite
even the final monster was done better by other, earlier films
nothing about it warranted making, they didn't do anything interesting with the premise, which was already boring
generally what the kids call 'mid' because while mediocre it wasn't so bad that it was funny or even interesting
I think they ended it too clean. And that's odd to say considering the beginning is the ending. But, maybe just personally, I'm looking for "Ash" in these remakes. Someone I can see progressing through a series of sequels connected to this particular evil. And even if they're taking a more serious tone I still want that Ash/John Mclane I keep stumbling upon this shit kind of character, and the aunt wasn't it.I don't know what Raimi's original intent was with the first one and I don't mean to imply these remakes have to follow his lead exactly but there should be more thought into a character focused horror movie or series of movies. Writing the movies in a way that the audience is thinking what's going to happen to the survivor next. At least that's the draw of the original Evil Dead movies to me.
No, and I genuinely enjoyed the 2013 remake. Title card was fricking spectacular imagery though. The mom was just too cringe and the film was way too dark which kind of ruined the shocking visuals and striking colour palettes used in the other movies. Overall 3/10 because of some decent gore. Should’ve kept the original director
This and the turntable scenes were great. I hate that they changed the setting to some condemned LA apartment building. Spooky innawoods shit or frick off, I say.
It was ok. Just forgettable
>NO MOMMY, DON'T GRAB MY DICK, FRICK NOOOOOO, DO NOT SUCK IT AHHHHHHH
>AAAAAAAHHHHHHH IM CUMMING AHHHHHHH

>rubbing period blood all over hands and face
do woman really?
Why didn't anyone frick her in the gussy (ghost pussy)? Why won't any real man step up?
It was a solid movie, good.imagery, paced well. The two non binary teen actors really took away a lot from it.

casting Pyrocynical as the daughter was a weird choice
no, because it wasn't a remake
No Ash.
Won't watch.
>Was Evil Dead: Rise a good remake?
It wasn't even a good movie at all
terrifier 2 was better because it didn't take itself so seriously

I'm a horror fan and tried to watch this like 10 times. Never made it through.
Felt like one bad long scene
no. it was dogshit like every modern horror

original has bad pacing and is quite boring up until it’s not
Why does she have a tattoo of Bane?
The cast was too white for the American audience, they couldn't relate.
Nah, there were plenty of non-white casting for secondary supporting roles...just the way God intended.
It's not a remake fool
>they really think that changing the setting to an apartment building will disguise the fact that this is just another lazy rehash
Oh well
It wasn't a remake at all, you moron.

The ending was terrible, especially compared to the last reboot and the amazing raining blood chainsaw barn scene.
Mommy
I think the director of this movie might be the next Raimi or Jackson if they give him the right property he could probably make a blockbuster
I would have liked to see more done with the apartment building setting, and there wasn't enough comedy nor was there enough gore. Still fun though.
I don't remember any comedy whatsoever in this movie unless it was laughing at how stupid it becomes
Was great. And its not a remake. Also the director will be huge soon. I liked him ever since hole in the ground. Smart guy. Talented too.
Hole in the Ground is legitimately the worst horror film I've ever seen.

Seriously this shit was so kino and then the rest of the movie fumbled all goodwill away
