God I fricking hate E-Celebs, this homie and sparksaber make the same shit where they just vomit the most popular opinion of something to keep their subscribers happy
South Park did it far better. There was nothing entertaining about this what's so ever, it baffles Me how a normie can shit on Family Guy for doing conway twitty gags for three minutes but praise nothing but a talking scene stretched to 20 minutes and say it's genius.
Tell me about 'Not Without My Anus' it just seemed like a Bait and Switch, the Lemmiwinks bait and switch I hated however.
At the time South Park was a fricking huge deal and audiences thought the cliffhanger was actually going somewhere, when season 2 premiered with an enormous joke of an episode people were caught completely off-guard. I think in the long-run it did good to cement South Park as a show where you could literally never expect what was going to happen, but it was still a new series so people didn't have a full grasp on how the show would carry itself, and people were fricking PISSED at the time.

It's been done before and it's been done better. Fans of this show need to lighten up a bit before one of them inevitably coins the next "To be fair..." pasta
I like Smiling Friends and I think it's funny, but I do find it annoying how people act like the jokes it does are some groundbreaking never-done-before style of comedy.
I hate fanboys in general.
People are simply uncapable of contextual judgment. I mean, you can like a musician or a YouTuber but these people are not free of judgment. Take for instance somebody like Eminem who makes fun of people all the time or a critic YouTuber who makes fun of movies.. as soon as you point out something wrong with THEM, then the fans get pissed off at you.
I'm sorry, but this show simply isn't that good. Norm Macdonald simply isn't that funny. JonTron is a racist.
It's just the effect of when audiences are deprived of certain things for awhile and it makes a return.
Seinfeld gets so much fricking praise for having episodes where characters are just sitting around and talking with a mundane plot. The Chinese Restaurant "made waves" for TV. Yet, everyone praising that seems to forget that the 70's was up to its neck in limited set styled sitcoms where you would have entire episodes of characters just having conversations with no set changes at all and they just drag out one single problem into 22 minutes of comedy.
Sanford and Son has an entire episode where Redd Foxx breaks his son's vase then tries to cover it up as a robbery. It ends up just being Redd doing a big impersonation of a robbery by himself with his son watching, then he does it again for the cops, and that's the whole episode. Four characters total, entire plot is about a single action, one set, but Seinfeld still gets praised. And it gets praised because the 80's were trying to be more elaborate with their TV shows, even the sitcoms like Roseanne had WAY bigger sets than Sanford and Son.
It's like getting a cartoon now that is actually has good hand-drawn animation, and not the hybrid-tweened shit we see with HBO's Looney Tunes. It would blow people away despite that being the norm in the 50's and then again in the 90's just because we don't get it very often.
Just wanted to let you know that you're an autistic moron who doesn't even understand why Seinfeld gets praised (it's not because they saved money on sets)
Some people are painfully fricking moronic and seem to have goldfish memories. I remember when Forbidden Horse Cartoon started airing that some people were praising it for "Being a cartoon that shows the values of friendship, something I've never seen before". Fricking seriously? These motherfrickers had never seen a cartoon talk about the values of friendship before 2010? Fricking morons everywhere.
It's because Oneyplays' zoomer audience has literally never encountered this style of humor before, so they act like Zach is the first person to ever do it.
Because after years of shows about depressed butthole casts who hate each other and remind the audience that life is worthless, it's nice to have a comedy where it's not the case.
It was mediocre. I am a big fan of Smiling Friends but I am kind of tired of screw the audience big event fakeout jokes. Like I knew exactly what we were getting the moment they brought up the reservations to Pim.
This kind of joke has been sort of overdone and there are a lot of better examples. Hell even the season one finale of the horse show did the concept better.
I figured it was a fake out the moment I heard an ad which said "The Smiling Friends go to Brazil"
I knew from that point it would be an ironic Seinfeld-type deal instead of more of a Simpsons-esque travel episode
I think it was a fine concept for an episode. Hell it's not much different from the chinese restaurant or parking garage episodes from Seinfeld. It was just executed poorly and was easily the worst episode of the show.
The gag wasn’t horrible but I was expecting more out of the episode. It felt like it could have been a short giving the same effect without overstaying it’s welcome for 11 minutes. Plus they have plenty of Brazil memes to rip material off of so it just feels like they were trying to save some money bc of the 70% cuts across the board at Warner but that’s just my tinfoil.
Idk all I know is oneygays are the most annoying people on this shit site and their constant eceleb worshipping is cringe, no matter how “based” they are. So yeah frick this show and it’s creators.
The synopsis hits harder because you know those were the guys' plans during the holiday.
So now they'll do the exact same things, but from home because they spent their holiday budget in two/three plane tickets (depending wether the imminent plane crash at the end of the episode delayed every single flight for a couple of hours or even a day with no refund available). They'll arrive home tired, lagged and hopeless. Pim won't have any excuse for his lack of novel writing. Charlie will keep playing Rust with no end in sight. Alan will be bothered by the Boss since he already called him on a holiday. Glep might frick, but not with those hot brazilian girls he hoped to bang.
To cartoon reviewers who have only consumed Rick and Morty and nuCalarts shit it's probably gonna look like genius, yeah. Honestly it felt like your average troll Zach would come up with and I'm fine with that.
Are all the pseuds starting their video essays about how this dumbass episode is the greatest thing ever now? I knew bullshit like this was inevitable. Every time a new episode comes out, there's going to be people dissecting and analyzing all the jokes and acting like it's the funniest show ever written.
psychicpebbles is not the greatest comedian to ever walk this Earth, for frick's sake.
>everyone in the thread for the trailer said "they're not gonna leave the airport" >someone this twist is groundbreaking, rather than just being Seinfeldian
This whole controversy is moronic.
I think what pissed me off the most was how everyone in that episode was really nasty at Mac and being nasty to him for supposedly "losing" the tickets, even though he was the one who won them and invited them.
>the thing is, with the internet nothing is unexpected anymore, the top comment on a reupload of the trailer was someone figuring the joke.
It's not the internet's fault for having basic pattern recognition, everyone is familiar with bottle episodes and they are not a new or innovative concept like SF fanboys want you to believe.
here's a better example of anti-humor
https://litter.catbox.moe/pvduon.m4v >why not use fire ant
because fire ant is one scenario that's made funny through humor engineering
smiling friends is like 7 scenarios that are played completely straight
The way YouTube posters broke it up really made it feel like there was MORE to it. But the show itself is so reliant on contrarily subverting expectations I couldn't even find myself disappointed. It was an above average 8 minutes of internet filler with a lot of lore. Like a reward for an ARG with a season of Strongbad hiding behind a geocache game. When you have no friends 8 minutes of filler is 8 minutes of filler. I'm not going to complain. ;'-(
The show got cancelled?
sbeve
But they went to Brazil
God I fricking hate E-Celebs, this homie and sparksaber make the same shit where they just vomit the most popular opinion of something to keep their subscribers happy
South Park did it first
And better. Not Without My Anus didn't have to rely on Twitter to flip off the audience.
Tell me about 'Not Without My Anus' it just seemed like a Bait and Switch, the Lemmiwinks bait and switch I hated however.

conway twitty was a fine joke the first time, but then they kept going back for more
the smiling friends episode is only 11 minutes long
it's from a belived newgrounds personality
Invader Zim did the best filler episode
It's been done before and it's been done better. Fans of this show need to lighten up a bit before one of them inevitably coins the next "To be fair..." pasta

dilate
Found the fanboy
How is he racist? He’s not even white. He’s a smelly sand Black person.
Lmao, if this isn’t bait I recommend killing yourself big doggy
welcome to fandoms. I just like how it's comedy isn't overly dark or sarcastic. A very VERY rare thing, bob's comes close.
It's been done before, but far from recently.
It's just the effect of when audiences are deprived of certain things for awhile and it makes a return.

>Only an auteur like me understands why Seinfeld hit it big
K gay
You clearly don't know what auteur means either, you stupid Black person
>I want to post but I have nothing to say
K gay
you're right it's because of israeli reasons
Good point.
And the Smiling Friends Brazil episode is just a more ironic take on a Seinfeld episode honestly
Fricking morons everywhere.
redditors love worshipping zach and will praise literally anything he makes
It's because Oneyplays' zoomer audience has literally never encountered this style of humor before, so they act like Zach is the first person to ever do it.
Because after years of shows about depressed butthole casts who hate each other and remind the audience that life is worthless, it's nice to have a comedy where it's not the case.
It made me realized how much time talking can take in a show. They at least moved around the area.
And that's a good thing!
Hell even the season one finale of the horse show did the concept better.
it was originally supposed to have aired on april fools day
that doesn't make it less shit.
I figured it was a fake out the moment I heard an ad which said "The Smiling Friends go to Brazil"

Gives the same vibe as those news articles that say
>Inflation is high and why that's a good thing!
But whose fault was it?
They DID go to Brazil. They just never left the airport.
>Vailskibaum
Hate that homosexual, he's a click baiting content farmer so takes a couple minute video what could be said in a few seconds.
Idk all I know is oneygays are the most annoying people on this shit site and their constant eceleb worshipping is cringe, no matter how “based” they are. So yeah frick this show and it’s creators.
Seethe harder incel

They went to Brazil and everything is worse now.
It was a sublte way to rape the audience by talking over the adventure this against theirs and the character's consent
No. The joke has been done before, multiple times, in better ways.
To cartoon reviewers who have only consumed Rick and Morty and nuCalarts shit it's probably gonna look like genius, yeah. Honestly it felt like your average troll Zach would come up with and I'm fine with that.
Most reasonable opinion in this thread. Reviewers are morons what’s new. The episode was mild at worst.
Are all the pseuds starting their video essays about how this dumbass episode is the greatest thing ever now? I knew bullshit like this was inevitable. Every time a new episode comes out, there's going to be people dissecting and analyzing all the jokes and acting like it's the funniest show ever written.

This whole controversy is moronic.
It was much too early for this show to make an episode like this, and it wasn't even a good example
It was better than Foster's Go to Europe that's for damn sure. That episode made me mad as a kid
Made me hate Madame Foster a whole lot.
I thought it was funny
I think what pissed me off the most was how everyone in that episode was really nasty at Mac and being nasty to him for supposedly "losing" the tickets, even though he was the one who won them and invited them.
That’s the joke.
Christ I’m shocked how many misunderstand Foster’s.
the thing is, with the internet nothing is unexpected anymore, the top comment on a reupload of the trailer was someone figuring the joke.
>mac

The best thing to come out of it was the wagie girl
The tourist guy was funny.

Disgusting
Literally if any other show did this it would be universally hated
I hate this c**t so fricking much and his shitty voice too
Blocktube
They didn't lie, it just didn't pan out according to plan.
Did the episode backfire?
No, they did go to Brazil.
They just didn't go past the airport
I know. I meant did the episode's reception surprise the showrunners? Did they expect people to like it but everyone hated it or something like that.
The way YouTube posters broke it up really made it feel like there was MORE to it. But the show itself is so reliant on contrarily subverting expectations I couldn't even find myself disappointed. I like smiling friends as much as the next guy but the amount of dickriding these e-celebs are doing when the show only has 9 episodes pisses me off
They literally went to Brazil
They were in Brazil
