The art and full page spreads from the manga during this fight are really impressive. That said, whenever Baki gets all philosophical, I get really sour. >They use dark martial arts because uhhh... they use weapons sometimes and go for cheap shots! Even though we do that too! >Nah man I'm not going to fight you (procedes to kick him in the balls and choke him half-to-death) >Any life advice given by Yujiro
God it's all so trite.
"Dark martial arts" is only said by Tokugawa. None of the fighters gets moralgay with the escaped prisoners. Closest thing is Doppo saying a karateka should only use improvised weapons rather than carry them with intention.
>Even though we do that too!
Not really. The Baki gang don't really jump people, they issue a challenge face to face and then walk off to have a match somewhere. The worst thing they ever do is Doppo and Shibukawa deliberately provoking thugs so they can fight, but even that's more honorable than Dorian strolling into your house to hit you in the face with a bomb.
i mean its no more or less homosexualy than anything else, which is fine.
what's stupid is having baki beat his father and it not be the end of the manga.
the whole procession of the manga is that his dad is the ultimate fighter, and, logically, his end should be the end of baki's journey.
instead he have this homosexual shit where he beats him 'psychologically' and then we have half-assed villains like pickle and musashi that never take off because they aren't truly allowed to be stronger than yujiro, and yet, baki has technically already beaten yujiro
so the manga just kind of meanders now.
but yeah, to me, this was basically the jumping the shark moment of baki, including yujiros dad coming back as a literal ghost to just to call him a homosexual.
pickle is introduced before yujiro, but that's also part of my point in that his position as 'ultimate warrior' is never really even given time to breathe, in part because of the yujiro fight.
pickle even tries to join the yujiro fight and they tell him to frick off
i guess what im saying is, yujiro is always the ultimate end-boss, and even when the author tries to put forth bosses above yujiro, they keep falling flat, and baki has already technically beaten yujiro so, where do you even go from there
also, he actually lost to Pickle - dumb loss, but telling of what would happen with Yujiro, and would lose to Musashi if he was actually "waging war" on him while also having both swords since the start
Baki still has a huge way to go
Because, anyways there's a huge foreshadow that Baki will eventually beat Yujiro - brain with a demon face on that scan - and eventually showing that strategy, martial arts, training, will and imagination beat raw power... I guess
The problem is everyone is someone's favourite character and if you make death too common then people don't care when they die (or even when they live). A few shitters living is worth making 4000 years more impactful.
I tried to read the comic but the translations I found went from meh to unbearable and it just wasn't engaging enough for me to go finding solid translations so I gave up.
The animation never caught my eye much either. Besides the memes this series has always seemed like the sorta thing WWE people love. And I don't hate that stuff but, it ain't what I wanna spend my spare time on usually, ya know?
I have a hard time watching anime because they're so repetitive and gay usually but I fell in love with Baki when a big premise is coming up with completely making up bullshit facts and trivia and applying it to the plot.
>tnt synchronicity >Arm bone whips
Shit made me lol so much with they put no effort into trying to come up with lore or special powers, because what's the point?

Yujiro's advice is good. Especially when he dunks on stoics by telling Baki he should have as much sex as possible.
Anyone who gets off on “dunking on stoics” is probably deeply miserable

i dont think ali jr would agree with this statement
Ali could have rejected the matches.
discount battle angel
? If you mean Alita, they're nothing alike.
gay
Baki was always extremely homoerotic, the chapter when he loses his virginity just cemented what a sad lonely homosexual the author is
The author has a kid, and she went on to create Beastars. She writes a lot like him too, Haru becomes as irrelevant as Kozue.
Early Baki is way better than latter Baki.
>another tr/a/nime thread
I thought this was Cinemaphile
Are we distracting you from your Dune and Marvel threads homosexual?
I can smell that ethnic sloppa from here
Imagine being so brown that you accuse posters 22 seconds apart of samegayging lmao
After only reading the word "kino" online, I just recently learned that it’s pronounced "key-no". I always pronounced it "kai-no" in my head.
Dont know what that is but it's obviously shounen. So no. Unless you're under the age of 20.

Jack took a bite out of reincarnated sumo fighter.

I remember Baki getting his ass handed to him, but his father finally respecting him.
Manga and anime are cringe as frick and i'm ashamed to share this site with people that unironically enjoy it.
Please get some pussy, at least.
Baki is kino if you can accept characters constantly surviving clearly fatal injuries due to bro science.
At some point you have to admit the author is afraid of killing even minor regulars. There's no excuse for Kato and Suedo surviving the shit they did.
The problem is everyone is someone's favourite character and if you make death too common then people don't care when they die (or even when they live). A few shitters living is worth making 4000 years more impactful.

You ever tried Dorohedoro? Sounds like it might be up your alley. Can't vouch for the anime, havn't seen it yet.
How are they going to handle the rape scene when it gets adapted?
If they left Pickle raping the reporter in, why would they mess with that one? Even in Western media, men getting raped is a punchline.
